So I’m not sure how I forgot to comment on the very episode I’d been asking for. I love Turkish, I picked up a Cap ride I love but still love your prototype the best. Keep the faith homie, hope all is well with you and yours. Can’t wait to see what you have next but take care of yourself first. We’ll be here when you’re ready.
Thanks for all the kind words, man. Truly. Been real quiet here, but I've got some good stuff in store for the new year. Hoping to get a few new videos out before that time too. Sending my best for your holiday season!!
This video was very informative, and I am checking these cymbals out as soon as I hit my send button. Thanks so very much, Timbo, and you, my friend, have a wonderful weekend.
@@timbofromkeno Will do, Timbo. I checked the cymbal sets on Sweetwater. I just can’t justify spending that kind of money on cymbals that are only played in my basement by me playing to a cd or iPad. I wish I had a set of them, but my Sabian B8s are going to have to do. Thanks so much.
@@timbofromkeno me too! Super light weight drums. I swear the 26" is the lightest drum I own haha the bass drum is original gold and black duco, I found good candidates for a refinish and painted them to match. @@timbofromkeno That would be pretty cool, don't think I have played one, speaking of odd sizes I have some 13" sabian aax hihats that sound really nice
Not 100% sure but always suspected the cymbals I play (the Zultan Caz series from Thomanns in house cymbal brand) are actually rebranded Turkish Millenniums. Very similar for sure. I freaking LOVE them.
You got a lot of companies in Turkey making very similar model cymbals. Like Turkish, Masterwork, Amedia, Zultan, Murat Diril. The real stand-out from Turkey is Istanbul Agop in my opinion. They have their own novel cymbal designs and the craftsmanship/sound/consistency is definitely a cut above the rest I’ve tried.
Agop makes some really cool cymbals, and a lot of drummers are hip to them right now. I would argue that their consistency is about the same as other brands, including Turkish, though. There are only some smaller factories in Turkey (plus many factories in China) that really give these non-North American manufacturers a bad name because of poor quality control.
@@timbofromkenoapparently Turkish cymbals come from Istanbul Mehmet factories. I bet several of those other generic brands are also related to them. Many of their lines are curiously similar. Istanbul Agop was obviously also related to them in the past, but what they focus on in the present is much more sophisticated in design and production quality imho. For me it goes without saying that most of those Turkish brands are much better value than what they produce in the USA. Especially with the prices of American cymbals here in Europe.
@@llRoBoBinHoll A lot of the Turkish brands are definitely a better value in Europe. That we can 100% agree on. And you are correct, the Turkish Cymbals factory is the same as the Istanbul Mehmet one. It runs in three shifts. One shift is a dedicated team to Turkish. One shift is a dedicated team for Mehmet. And a third team is dedicated to white label stuff (those smaller brands that you alluded to). It's pretty interested. But I love that each of the two main brands have a dedicated group of folks making the cymbals.
Right?! I love that tom. I’ll have a video about this whole kit soon. And I like the way you think about this cymbal sound. I think you’re on to something!!
all of those sound beautiful! the 22 ride is pure fire. It really shocks me how few subs you have, when releasing such high end content! love your vids
Man, thank you! So glad you’re digging the tracks. I use them all the time too-that’s why I first started making them! And I’m so glad other folks like you get a kick out of them too!!
Thanks for the comment, dude. I’ve had some tough family stuff come up, but I’m still working on A LOT of new content. Gimme a week or two, and we’ll be back! ❤️❤️❤️
lol I’m all about choices. I love Zildjian stuff too, and sometimes having alternatives to mix in with your most beloved cymbals can make drumming fun again as well!!
Each cymbals will sound different especially when they're hand hammerred different of the USA companies they're machine hammered I personally prefer hand hammerred love Turkish cymbals now the Master Murat Diríl it's using Bronze ( B) 27 his cymbals are high end with an unique sound.
Hey Uzziel! Yes, I like handmade cymbals too. I think there is something special about that. And Diril makes some incredible stuff. I know there are a few manufacturers who make high tin content cymbals in the B25 (25% tin) range, but I don't know if anyone is doing anything higher than what Diril does. So so interesting!

always sworn by non name brand hand made turkish cymbals, never leads me wrong, especially loving my pergamon cymbals right now

All good stuff. If you’re looking for a ride, I can’t recommend the 22” Millennium Ride enough. It’s excellent!
