Cranial Issues: A Discussion About the "Cranially Driven" Experience and Dental Integration

- Matt has a patchless eustachian tube which may have contributed to his postural issues. It turns out that he needed dental integration to help resolve his pain because in his case Postural Restoration techniques wouldn't be enough. There was too much tension in his neck and cranium for his body to stabilize properly.
Your the only person I know that’s gone in depth on his own body as I have to myself. Much respect
Wow! So happy for Matt. Great video and conversation. Looking forward to part 2!
I can relate to so much of that. Another amazing video! Thanks for sharing Neal!!!
Occlusion, torsion, and TMJ are incredibly complicated. I have yet to find a dentist who can put all the pieces together. Meanwhile, we suffer. Science hasn’t caught up.
elizabeth caughey dds .Atlanta. She is pri dentist
@@magicerrr not yet . Neal did talk about this dentist in his videos.she is pri dentist
I'm told there's a good doctor in Korea who treats TMJ
I think this is going to help me a lot. Thanks for the work you do man!
Great Job! Very very informative. It reminded me of my early childhood. Unfortunately I found nobody to understand me that time and the whole thing threw me to endless loneliness and pain. Thank you very much for your works.
The loneliness and emotional pain is a very real. I went through it myself for many years, unfortunately.
So thankful i found this channel im going to get some tests done thank you sir
This is an mind blowing discussion... I actually took a screenshot of the doctor's he saw. I'm going through something very similar. I'm in great physical shape but I promise I've never actually felt the ground. Everyday standing, walking.... everything is a conscious effort. I have a jaw issue which really affects my sinuses, my neck, my eyesight, breathing, and tension in my shoulder. Just listening to this testimonial felt relieving. subscribed!
Mike and Dr. C are wonderful!
How much did your expenditure come upto
Update? Cost?
@@matthewcurtis3759 How are you doing now? Are you off the Alf?
@@MI-qj6xr I actually wear it daily right now with toe spacers. I teach and it helps me focus when I have to talk a lot. I have more mental stamina with it in as well. I go through phases of not wearing it as well.
Great discussion
Extremely interesting!
thank you so much! Finally I understand
We all just not gonna talk about 9:08 😉🔥🔥 great work on the physique, Neal! You'd never guess!
I have it quite a bit complicated too. I have jaw shifted to the right, but I have my left canine more pushed even thought i am not pushing the left canine but the right, Weird. Than i feel my left molar more and again it is Weird because I have jaw to the right so I should feel right molar more.
Hi Neal, would it be possible to know what's your eye problem that got better with the contact lenses? I have high myopia so wondering if that causes tension in my neck. Thanks!!
Hi Neal,
You should mention teeth extractions as a cause of torsions! (Already assessed by a PRI provider but with pictures and zoom call) I have the exact same torsion as you, aka sidebend rotation. I had a premolar extracted on my upper right side of the jaw and the spaces closed, shifting the midline of my teeth to the right end collapsing the right side of my face.
One thing I stuggle to understand is why aren’t those issues resolved through orthodontics if it’s known that the issue is coming from the occlusion. I’ve seen it done on papers by A.O Savinov and Dennis Strokon + James Gavin research papers but I can’t find an orthodontist that will do that for me.
What do you think about this Neal? I’ve been trying to solve this issue for years but can’t find more answers. I wish you could speak about it and hope it gets addressed on your channel in the future!
i also had neck and tooth pain stemming from my upper back, my spine had so many adhesions i could not rotate... now im 90% recovered my tooth pain is almost gone and all my tight muscles from my pelvis up are loose and almost pain free now
What did u do?
What did you do?
Neal, do the cranial issues can happen not only by oclusion conflicts but just for bruxism tightness? Do you know if displaced jaw disks can be corrected?
I think I need to find someone that could do to me what she did for Mat. I have bought a palate expander, and for the the first time, I am genuinely feeling results from your pri exercises. I don’t know how much more expansion I need really (my tongue is yet able to sit flush on my palate, but could getting a splint now help?
Do you know the Starecta splint? What do you think about it?
Good stuff
I am in once a week with my PRI trainer in Toronto and have been to 5 sessions and I am still having pain in my neck, trap, tmj. I also grind my teeth during sleep. Matt and I seem to have so many similar issues. I can’t stress enough how important it is to find a really good PRI instructor. I also hit a wall now and need to find someone more knowledgeable. Hopping to go to Neil once borders are open again.
Can I ask who your PRI trainer is?
Who are you seeing for pri
Months ago I suddenly experienced some super relief on my eyes, head and body. Felt like I was wearing a heavy metal mask for my entire life.
Maybe the sphenoids "opened" with my jaws.
But, this experience did not last long enough.
I've felt like I was free of something.
What did you do?
I've had that experience a lot doing some of the PRI Exercises, and it's a golden moment, but hasn't yet lasted.
Like all great orators of theory, who here feels significantly improved from these recommendations? And if so, please explain what improvements you feel. Otherwise I will respectfully remain extremely cautiously optimistic with PRI.
Im confused as to why he needed ALF after the splint if the splint got him neutral. Is he supposed to wear the ALF permanently as he required to be in his mouth to create palletal pressure? Or is the goal to expand the palette (which is confusing to me since he benefited when he put it on immediately)?
Because I've heard that the ALF appliance is very expensive and can wear down teeth and gums. It also doesn't give much, if any, palette expansion apparently.
Would somebody be able to treat a cranial torsion (left sidebend) if they just used the splint? why did he need alf? Sorry for long question.
I have the same question. Were you able to find the answer?
I have left sidebend too, tell me that you found the solution please 🙏
Can you share the dentist or tmj doctor you got recommended
Sir there is pulling of my jaw muscles and teeth, please help me
Had pelvic floor dysfunction for 5 years and believe my jaw or head are causing all of these issues
Can you guys help me any ways, I have short left jaw which caused my neck to tilt to left side, visibly very slide but my life is been a misery for last 13 years, no doctor can help me here in Bangladesh, we don't have any doctor who even understand the problem, we don't have any chiropractor, or orthotic or anything close to these. I am just left alone with my condition. Can you help me with any way or suggestion to improve my condition? I am also not that wealthy to travel the world for treatment 😢
Hi Neal, after a eye surgery I’ve had more issues with my neck and TMJ. The eye surgery left me with some vision issues - who do I see to help with this? My issues are getting worse and I think my jaw is dislocated.
If it’s helpful I’m seeing a neuromuscular dentist maybe start there if they can help?
This is identical to my issues.
Appreciated your commentary alongside thanks Neil.
When you show your eyes moving from side to side you show that the body moves to that side as well; is this a frontal plane movement, and thus IO/TA's also get contracted, or is it movement into one of the other two planes?
if you move eyes to the right your body shifts to the left .. and vice versa
@@adriangpuiu Do you mean the body shifts into left AFIR, Right AFER, left shoulder goes down and right shoulder goes up?
Which side of the core gets activated?
@@ruebenandrews9914 mainly left, i never feel those right abs ... but i keep my feet in a relaxed state always so if i stay on the left heel / foot the right foot touches the ground with just the balls of the feet and vice versa ,
@@adriangpuiu Ok that would imply the action of moving eyes to left side would move the body in a frontal plane of motion since you detected the engagement of Left IO/TA but, still waiting for Neils input on this just to confirm.
What about scapulae position on ribcage; does one side feels it externally rotates and which one internally rotates in the position you described above?
@@ruebenandrews9914 you just want to recover early stage of propulsion on the right side meaning pronation to drive force into the ground meaning you need IR ..... but also be able to keep the ER , you can do that keeping front leg in front , right shoulder in front and squat ... and push more of that right leg backwards cause youre overtilted over that right side ...
Would Invisalign do anything to help?
does TMJ or wisdom teeth cause the left AIC pattern ?
also pelvic floor therapist helpful for AIC pattern?
Went through the exactly same journey
What worked for you?
Did you get ALF?
Try to work out your weak muscles separately and go to a chiropractor at least once to show you where is your problem.
Also check the way you sleep, sit, stand and bend over which side do you use more and are you using it correctly.
@@AM-qn1vx if you have a cranial strain you can stretch and workout as you want but you won't solve it. It's a biomechanical issue
Craniosacral addresses cranial compression and imbalances in the soft/hard pallet and lower jaw. Dentist send me all their clients who have tmj
How does this relate to cervical instability and how do you differentiate from the two or both are possible?
Both are possible.
How can I get in touch with Matt?
Hey Neal, I'm so confused, why does the pri trainer site say the Left Diaphragm is overactive and needs to be turned off??
If it says that then it’s a typo. What page were you reading?
Quote, "The Left AIC pattern is named after the chain of muscles that are over-active.
The Anterior-Interior Chain of muscles are:
Left Diaphragm
Illiacus
Psoas
Rectus Femoris
TFL
Biceps Femoris
The first five muscles on the list are found on the front of the left leg. These five muscles are generally tight and overactive and keep the left hemi-pelvis anteriorly rotated. In training terms the hip is flexed, so there is an anterior pelvic tilt going on.
It is this chain of muscles that we want to turn off."
@@ShadyDogg it’s correct as written in that context. Diaphragm is overactive as a postural stabilizer in the left AIC pattern .
@@NealHallinan hmm okay. do you happen to have video about that? cause I dont understand the difference there
@@ShadyDogg the desire to inhibit the left diaphragm as a postural stabilizer, and facilitate it as a primary breathing muscle, is built into every PRI technique. Not sure I’ve made a video specifically about that.
Hey, is there anyway to get the name of that dental person who helped this man because aside from the eustachian issue, he talks about I have all of those same issues and I’ve been suffering for 30+ years and I tend to be allergic to the material they put in these bike guards therefore I’ve been wearing one that isn’t really made to be a guard for the type of TMJ I have they’re just a Clouzot guards that don’t have acrylic so I need to get to a specialist who can help me. I’ve been wearing splints in my mouth for 20+ years and I’ve had Bell’s palsy and I have those severe left AIC pattern and I have had all kinds of issues because of it and I just wondered if you were able to message me the name of that dentist if I were to email you or some thing I never imagined it was connected to my pelvis and neck problems. Thank you for making his videos and I hope you are feeling well these Days. I am about 300 miles from Suwanee Georgia but I’ll drive anywhere to get this under control.
If it helps I’m seeing a neuromuscular dentist for all my tmj issues. Turns out tongue ties are also a huge play in these issues and things don’t develop properly So he’s fixing everything 🙂
How do I find a PRI certified rehabilitationist? I’ve spent 7 months running circles but this just changed everything. I live in Vegas, would do anything to get in touch
Zac Cupples is in Las Vegas
who was the woman dentist who helped him!?
Did treatment help PET? I did get a diagnosis and have suffered for over 10yrs. I know I clench my jaw and now I’m in PT for neck and chronic headache. Plus a host of other issues. Would love more info.
Sorry for replying after one year. Yes, it has helped a lot. Hard to give a definite answer yet because I’m still working with Dr. C and am still wearing an ALF. I remain hopeful. On good days I’m symptom-free for about 70% of my day. Coffee still kills me though and brings PET back.
@@matthewcurtis3759 hey hopefully you still look at this! You think overall the Alf is worth it for you? Very similar symptoms to you, I’m a right torsion (went to the institute last spring). Stuck in extension, I’m going in tomorrow for an nla appliance which is apparently a modified version of an Alf. So much money, but trying to stay open minded
@@kyletomczak6302 ALF and mandibular splint changed my life.
@@matthewcurtis3759 do you still do pri type exercises? I’m inanely right side dominant from baseball/ volleyball my whole life and can feel my body being pulled in every direction. Got an nla which is similar to the Alf yest. Some relief but nothing crazy, just curious if you’ve seen your right dominant pattern even out or what. I know you mentioned you were patterned due to playing instruments
@@kyletomczak6302 I still do PRI exercises. They help me a lot. I don’t need them as much as I used to, but they still move me towards neutrality in a noticeable way.
I was patterned from age 10-12. I was probably patterned from a combination of stress, allergy-related congestion, and birth-related cranial strain. My pattern really began to set around age 12-13 when I developed a patulous eustachin tube that made me use my right jaw / neck muscles to try and close the tube.
Have you ever seen shoulder dislocations cause torsion overtime
Back in early 2022, my shoulder actually would try to pop out of place and until this day I deal with some shoulder discomforts
5:45 I am in this pattern 😔
Root cause id bet is a tongue tie.
What is that?
Neal, how long did it take you to get into your 'new' body?
Many years. But I was way more complicated than the average person. And I never got help until I needed special glasses. I was self-treating through seminars
@@NealHallinan Willing to compare complications? I've been considering purchasing an evaluation from you. I'm about 6 months into my PRI journey and I want to thank you for showing me the path. Life changing stuff.
You say your left ear is higher compared to the right and it seems that your left eye was higher compared to the right too..This is not the "typical right torsion" isn't it? Because I noticed that my right eye is higher and also my right ear..Where is the difference? Do the exercises stay the same tho? @NealHallinan
I think you would be the tmcc pattern in that case torsion is added pathology
