You should check out Angie by the Rolling Stones. I really enjoy watching your channel. I have listened to a lot of the songs that you do reactions to, most of my life. But, it's good to see someone discovering these songs for the first time.
Mick Jagger and Keith Richard met as teenage schoolboys waiting for a train. Mick was carrying a Chuck Berry album; Keith saw it and struck up a conversation. They discovered their shared love of American blues. The rest is, well, history.
Before bonding at Dartford station over Chuck Berry and Muddy Waters records (that Mick had sent away for from Chicago's Chess Records) they'd known each other much earlier, as kids in grade school before one (or both?) of the families moved.
They went to Wentworth Primary School. Mick’s Dad lived in Wilmington in his later life. His Dad worked at Dartford Grammar school, which now has The Mick Jaguar centre, were my daughter went musical theatre class. My son went to the same school as Keith, albeit many years later. Keith sometimes goes back to Chastilian Rd, Dartford and Temple Hill.
This masterpiece was composed by a couple of guys in their 20s. The use of the choir was a stroke of genius. Who would have thought that these kids could envision such a complex piece of music and bring it into existence.
Man you've just tapped into another world of bad ass music. Beast Of Burden, Honky Tonk Women, Paint It Black, Wild Horses, Jumping Jack Flash, Sympathy For The Devil . ..sooo many more
Melody I Got The Blues. Finger Print File. Citadel. 2000 light Years from Home. Back Street Girl. There are so many rarely heard Stones tunes that are great. Jiving Sister Fanny Goin Home. ( the first 11 minute song in the 1960s). So so many. Parachute Woman. Hip Shake.
Also Casino Boogie which I’m sure Aerosmith borrowed much from for Same Old Song and Dance. Lol. Joe and Steve even looked like mick and Keith together at the mic when they started. Also the last song on side two of both their first albums was Walking The Dog. Except on Aerosmith’s they misspelled it walking the ‘Dig’ lol. As we called them in 1973 ‘A poor mans Rolling Stones though they had some good tunes up to night in the Ruts. After that Tyler just screamed too much. But their first few albums were good. Still after listening to the Stones since I was 6 ( 1967) and all the Blues Jazz Funk and Reggae they turned me on to its hard to top that. I also like the DeadKennedys and the Clash and Dave Brubeck and Mozart and Bach. So I guess I’m pretty eclectic in my tastes for music. It’s all good if it moves you. ( listen to Milkcow blues and Mystery train by Elvis ( Sun Records ). Good stuff Chuck Buddy Eddie Cochran.
My favorite era of The Rolling Stones is from the 60's. I loved the "Flowers" album. They had a lot of great early hits such as "Ruby Tuesday", "Paint It Black", "Get Off Of My Cloud", "Let's Spend The Night Together", "Satisfaction", "Jumpin' Jack Flash", "Honky Tonk Women", "Gimme Shelter", "Tumbling Dice", "Brown Sugar" etc.
The amazing thing about this song is the dueling choirs. The Stones combined a traditional English boys choir with an American black church choir. Both choirs singing together at the end is what makes this song so special.
Imagine you’re a kid in the late sixties. There are the Beatles fans, 99% chicks screaming so much that the Fab Four gave up touring, and there were the Stones fans. We were Stones fans.
Mick Jagger is 80. Keith Richards is 80. Ron Wood, the baby of the group who joined in 1976, is 76. Charlie Watts was 80 when he died in 2021. Bill Wyman retired from the group in 1993 - he's 87. Those still alive and not retired are still performing and producing records. This is their seventh decade of doing so.
These words seem to be more powerful now from Mick, now a senior citizen & ALL his senior citizen fans. We were always fans of the Stones for about 60 years! We may have all been smokin a little weed now & then...but we were clear enough to know Mick & the boys were gonna makin it BIG ❤
I'd sing the chorus to this to my first graders when they whined about what they wanted or didn't want. When they started rolling their eyes I'd play it for them, then I'd never have to sing it again because they always did.
I used to sing this to my daughter and niece when they were little, now they sing it to their kids 😂. The only parenting advice I got from the Stones. 😅😅😅
I'm always brought back to the opening scenes of the movie The Big Chill, by this song. I won't give anything away. You would probably like to watch it! It's a classic from our time.
Years ago, when my two daughters were in elementary school, this song played on the car radio. Upon turning up the volume and announcing these were the Rolling Stones, they asked me how I knew. "Because their instruments sound all jingly-jangly and the music sounds great." In 2021 when they were in their thirties, I took them to a live Stones concert in Tampa.
This song was written performed and produced during what is arguably the most prolific output of music in rock and roll history by any one band. From Beggars Banquet to Exile to Let it Bleed to Sticky Fingers to Exile on Main Street (and Get yet Ya Ya’s out) - it just doesn’t get better, and I doubt we’ll ever see anything like it again.
Charlie Watts was, without a doubt, the very engine room of this band. He was the heartbeat and spine. That's why is astounding the hear this for 50+ years and remind myself, it was actually Jimmy Miller that ran the drums with such skillful, delicate, brutal precision. I was deep in the Stones music by 1983, and listened to this tune about 100 times before I found it that, although it sounds exactly like how Charlie would play it, it wasn't him. But the theme remains here, with all the Stones music...the hidden element that makes it all go, is in fact the drums, not the guitars. Damn this tune is just monumental, it has surpassed the era in which it was born and has risen into the very thin air of indispensably legendary....
I'm glad you listened to the studio version including the choral intro. I was floored when I found out there are people who _hate_ the choral parts of the song. It's so beautiful. Thanks for the reaction!
The Stones hired the London Bach Choir for the backup which was outrageous at the time because of the drug references, "I knew she was gonna meet her connection". I'm sure it was the first time the Choir sang with conga drums too! ☺😆, and you Rock, Bro! PJ

Stones, Mick & Keith, both 80 coming up on 81, have a new song that they, as always, co-wrote, called "Angry" that was nominated for this year's Grammys. It's from their new album, "Hackney Diamonds". Best new Rock n Roll song, 2024, written bt 2 almost 81 yr olds! Great rock n roll with never die as long as those 2 have breath in their bodies.
Pretty big band? I think the best band ever. Their catalogue is so vast, it's insane and they have been going since the 60s and still are. That's amazing talent along with dedication to your craft.
There are so many good songs from The Rolling Stones. Endless hits. I’d recommend “The girl with far away eyes” or “Honky Tonk Woman” or “Paint it Black.” Any song really.
As a stoner burn out ex classic rock drummer I give a GIGANTIC grin EVERYTIME you react to songs I grew up on. Watching you discover what I’ve known for decades (that music will NEVER be that good again) warms my heart!! Keep doing what you do brother and remember, music is the great equalizer. PEACE!
Al Kooper, an original member on the band Blood Sweat, and Tears’ First album, played Keyboards, organ, and flugel horn on this song! The Rolling Stones were not just a big band they were the only band to truly rival The Beatles. Enough said!
Hey there. I have been a fan of the Rolling Stones since the mid-1960's, am 75 years old, and have seen them live three times. I'm very pleased you've discovered their music and highly recommend that you attend a concert soon, as they are touring now. This song is fabulous on stage. Rock on, brother.
The Rolling Stones are one of the greatest rock bands of all time and still performing. I have seen them live several times and they were always fantastic. Thank you.
The Stones are famous for that slow build. "Exile on Main Street," their best album, has almost no hits, but it is an absolute masterwork, almost a slow build in itself. A truly complete album, a double album that is a singular listening experience.
Absolutely agree. So, so, so many great songs on Exile. And the whole album does build as you note. Complex and layered, yet so essential and core, it’s the king among so many stupendous Stones albums. Have listened to it from beginning to end more than any album in my vast collection. A true desert island choice.
I've heard many, many of these songs, that you react to, many, many times. I find that your fresh, genuine reactions give me FRESH, NEW GOOSEBUMPS at exactly the right times in the songs.
13:36 You say a lot of bands weren't American bands. That's true in rock. The British gave us most of the best bands in rock. I don't know why this is, but it's a reality. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Who, The Rolling Stones, Queen, Fleetwood Mac, the Beatles, and the list goes on and on. It's amazing, really. 3
Brother Polo! Tool, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, The Rolling Stones . . . Hear we go! Another journey for you friend! Enjoy My Brother! The Stones! So many good songs.
The Rolling Stones came up w/ The Beatles in the 60's, and even though they never had the one phenomenal record that sold through the roof... they became the biggest band in the world by scoring hit after hit, decade after decade... until their audience transcended multiple generations and grew into this massive fanbase worldwide. "You can't always get what you want" was 1 of their biggest singles from 1969. The Rolling Stones were formed in London, England in 1962 by Mick Jagger (vocals), Keith Richards (guitar) and Brian Jones (guitar)... the original line-up w/ Charlie Watts (drums) and Bill Wyman (bass) were soon playing gigs as a cover band. After The Beatles were signed and became stars by 1964, it was The Rolling Stones who were picked up to be the next British sensation... Releasing mostly cover songs, The Rolling Stones were marketed as the 'bad boys' of British rock (even though they were all prim & proper London boys, while The Beatles were the tough kids from Liverpool. However, The Rolling Stones needed to make their own hits... and soon discovered that Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were a potent songwriting duo, especially after their original single 'Satisfaction' became a huge hit in the UK and USA in 1965 ... Jagger and Richards would write all the band's original hits and were nicknamed 'The Glimmer Twins'. By 1968, The Rolling Stones were a live attraction and actively touring after The Beatles had stopped touring in 1966... but the alcohol and drugs were affecting guitarist Brian Jones, who left the band in 1969... Tragically, Brian Jones was found dead that year, drowned in his own swimming pool... Mick Taylor (guitar) replaced him in the band. As the 70's began, The Rolling Stones saw more hit records coming - the album 'Sticky fingers' in 1971... 'Exile on Main Street' (1972)... and the band was a strong concert draw on tour (but found themselves behind Led Zeppelin in popularity, if not media coverage) ... Mick Taylor left the band by 1974 and was replaced by Ronnie Wood (guitar) who had played in a band w/ Rod Stewart. 'Some girls' (1978) became the Rolling Stones' biggest record, selling 6x platinum in the US... but even w/ the 80's starting strong w/ the hit 'Start me up' in 1981 and the album 'Tattoo you' becoming a hit, The Rolling Stones were falling apart internally because of a rift between Jagger and Richards... After a stadium tour for the album, The Rolling Stones did not tour for the rest of the 80's as Mick Jagger looked at a solo career. Thankfully by 1989, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards finally made peace and completed a new Rolling Stones album 'Steel wheels' and returned to tour... However, original bassist Bill Wyman left the band in 1992; he was never replaced - the band enlisted session players on the albums and tours afterwards... The 90's saw The Rolling Stones getting bigger than ever w/ the albums 'Voodoo lounge' (1994) and 'Bridges to Babylon' (1998)... Their album 'A bigger bang' (2005) was another top 5 charting record... The band went to their roots w/ a covers album 'Blue & lonesome' in 2016. Charlie Watts (drums) passed away in 2021... The Rolling Stones have been touring w/ session players and released their latest album 'Hackney Diamonds' in 2023 and announced a major tour for 2024.
Stones songs that I love...Winter, Moonlight Mile, Parachute Woman, Till the Next Goodbye, Stray Cat Blues, Stop Breakin' Down...man....I could go on and on and on........lol
First, I cannot hear this song without thinking of my Mother singing this to me when I asked her for something and the answer was “NO” 😂. Who are The Rolling Stones? Musical geniuses. I have gone back and forth with myself as to who is better; Zeppelin or the Stones, and for me it’s the Stones because of the variety of sounds and eras they have; I could be on a deserted island and survive musically with just the Stones.❤. My favorites: “Can’t you hear me knocking”, “Monkey Man”, “Miss You” GREAT reaction, Polo!
Mick actually met Mr. Jimmy at the drugstore the morning after a concert in Excelsior, MN. It is Mr. Jimmy who made the comment "you can't always get what you want" when they were out of Cherry Red.
Just an interesting note, Mr Jimmy existed, he was from Excelsior, Minnesota. Mick and he met there on their first tour. The parts about the drug store , the cola, and the line , you can't always get what you want, came from that meeting.
SO GLAD you did this incredible song!!!! Yes, it most definitely *IS* a masterpiece. DEFINITELY listen/react to "Sympathy For The Devil," "Gimme Shelter," "Honky Tonk Women," "Wild Horses," "Miss You," "Beast Of Burden," "Emotional Rescue," "Start Me Up, "Undercover Of The Night," "Mixed Emotions" and "Love Is Strong."
Beast of Burden is my all time favorite of theirs. They were my first concert I ever went to back in 2005 (13 years old) and they were AMAZING! 85,000+ in attendance and they put on a hell of a show!
The Stones’ Can’t You Hear Me Knocking is a raw Keith Richards-riffing throwdown followed by a Santana-esque Latin outro. Love to hear your take. Keep up the good work brother.
Great songs and reactions today. This is my favorite Rolling Stones,. Musically, when the choir is added in and it all swells is GREAT by any standard. There are all kinds of info about this song and how Mick Jagger chose "my favorite cherry cola" When Mick, Freddie and Jim Morrison add in verbal asides, well, there is nothing better or sexier! This is a masterpiece of rock and roll
There is no better music than that of the 60's and 70's. The bands took their "craft" seriously. They were competing against one another. Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, The Stones, The Beatles, Rush, David Bowie, The Who, on and on. Amazing musicians and creative geniuses.
Still cool as hell. After all these years. Sounds funny to say this but they are actually underrated as their place in rock history. Great song too. Can't help but sing along everytime. Even after probably 40+ years. My favorite flavor cherry red. One of the greatest lines all time
"The Big Chill" (1983) starring many stars of the day, Kevin Kline, Glenn Close, William Hurt, Jeff Goldblum, and others, a movie full of moments with music of the times, and if by chance you haven't seen the movie, you should, for the use of the music.
Excited to join you on this Stones journey. MISS YOU is so fun and sassy and sexy. I enjoyed the live 1997 version. And GIMME SHELTER is another vocally brilliant one. Thanks, Polo

Earlier Stones, too. Spider to the Fly, Everybody Needs Somebody to Love, Mona, and early blues. 😊😊
The new Stones album is absolutely fantastic I mean check it out and look at the comments everybody loves it
100%. Add in Sympathy for the Devil and Wild Horses. I like to listen to Hot Rocks as it's a great collection of early Stones.
“Can’t you hear me knocking” - one of their best.
YES! 🔥
One of the greatest riffs, ever.
That guitar riff is just sick!!!! One of if not my favorite Stones track. Especially the transition in the end, it just blows my mind .

This song is probably my favorite and they have a lot of great songs.
I used to sing the chorus to my kids when they asked me for something I couldn’t afford. I was a single divorced mother.
The amazing thing about this song is the dueling choirs. The Stones combined a traditional English boys choir with an American black church choir. Both choirs singing together at the end is what makes this song so special.

Thank you for reminding me of how transformative it was to hear this the first time. Great reaction, Polo.
“Can’t You Here Me Knockin?” Is fire baby!!
Glad you have gone back and can appreciate what you missed from the 60’s and 70’s. Best music ever!
One of the greatest songs and recordings in history...
True ICONS of rock n roll. The Stones have been relevant from the 60's through the 80's and beyond.
Who would have thought a boy's choir and the Rolling Stones would sound so wonderful! Musical geniuses.
I grew up with The Stones music 👌. This song and Tumbling Dice are my favs ❤
Saw the Rolling Stones in concert many moons ago ...outdoor venue and watching Mick own the stage was awesome! This one takes me back.
Can’t believe they’re still touring at age 80! 🤯
Nicky Hopkins on keys I believe. Fantastic session keyboard player. Admired by many musicians.
My mom did exactly the same thing.
Sympathy for the devil, Gimme Shelter and Paint it Black are all must hear stones songs
Yes!! Play more Rolling Stones! Incomparable.
Mick actually met Mr. Jimmy at the drugstore the morning after a concert in Excelsior, MN. It is Mr. Jimmy who made the comment "you can't always get what you want" when they were out of Cherry Red.
They NEVER play in Excelsior, MN. It was a "Chelsea Drug Store". Mr. Jimmy was their producer Jimmy Miller.
🎼Ah yes! 1969! From the “Let it Bleed” album! I’m old, like the Stones.😁☮️💟🎼
I saw them last year in concert. They are still rocking just as hard as 60 years ago!!
IMHO The Stones reached their absolute peak as far as songwriting with Let It Bleed. My absolute favorite album by them.
There’s no such thing as _very_ unique-uniqueness is a singular quality that takes no modifiers.
Just an interesting note, Mr Jimmy existed, he was from Excelsior, Minnesota. Mick and he met there on their first tour. The parts about the drug store , the cola, and the line , you can't always get what you want, came from that meeting.
They NEVER play in Excelsior, MN. It was a "Chelsea Drug Store". Mr. Jimmy was their producer Jimmy Miller.
“You can have Anything you want, you just can’t have Everything you want.” ~Del Walmsley
Keith Richards was a choir boy at the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953.
The Stones’ Can’t You Hear Me Knocking is a raw Keith Richards-riffing throwdown followed by a Santana-esque Latin outro. Love to hear your take. Keep up the good work brother.
An iconic song from the Stones, one of literally dozens. Pure fire.
I'm so hyped for you to try more Rolling Stones, they are one of the greatest Rock Bands of all time.
Sympathy for the Devil would be my personal fav
You nailed it !!
This is one of my favorite all-time reaction videos by you - THANK YOU!
Still cool as hell. After all these years. Sounds funny to say this but they are actually underrated as their place in rock history. Great song too. Can't help but sing along everytime. Even after probably 40+ years. My favorite flavor cherry red. One of the greatest lines all time
Wild Horses and Angie. Sticky Fingers my favorite album
"The Big Chill" (1983) starring many stars of the day, Kevin Kline, Glenn Close, William Hurt, Jeff Goldblum, and others, a movie full of moments with music of the times, and if by chance you haven't seen the movie, you should, for the use of the music.
I love your reaction to these songs. Thank you for the smiles.
Excited to join you on this Stones journey. MISS YOU is so fun and sassy and sexy. I enjoyed the live 1997 version. And GIMME SHELTER is another vocally brilliant one. Thanks, Polo
