Appreciate the interview brother ❤
They didn't teach me shit in school. Turn the wheel left 4 times until you see the painted spot, then turn right u til the fairing matches that line. Blah blah blah
What else?😂
Me too I'm happy I was taught right by family after I got my cdl
I sent my son to trucking school to get his licence. He backed up and nailed it on the first try. I told him " they gonna show you stuff in school, basics....then IM gonna show you wbat they dont show you in school"
But does he know trucker helps a trucker help his mama when he can?
He did not nail it on the first try. No one nails it on thr first try. If someone says they have they lying.
I would have showed him a trade instead. Because trucking is trash. Roofing, Countertops, tile, fabrication, etc. instead.
I would agree if didn't know better. I worked for Churchill on the dock in 1988. The dispatcher asked if I could drive. I said yes but I hadn't done much but bobtail. He gave me some keys and a trailer number. He said put that in door ??? I thought I was loading it for another driver. He was standing on the dock watching me back in. I did it with no pull ups. Little did I know that was my road test. He handed me a stack of bol's for city delivery and said load them in the order I gave them to you. Then he said go deliver them and call me when you're empty. I didn't have a Chauffeur license. From that day on I drove every evening with only car license until the terminal manager asked for a copy of my license. He almost passed out when I showed him my car license two years later. He said why didn't you tell me you didn't have Chauffeurs license. I told him nobody asked they asked if I could drive. He ran me off for a year but grandfathered me for my CDL in 1990. I had never put a trailer to the dock and nailed it. I had only played around with a fishing boat. I did a lot of illegal truck driving starting in 1980 at the railroad bob trucks and got legit in 1990. Those were the good old days. Just get in and drive. Do what you're told. Don't ask questions.
If someone would have guided me away from trucking before I invested in it. Legit I would have given them $20k cash as a thank you.
Old School here !! Thank you for keeping it Real !! 😁😊
np!!! thank you for moving America
It's going to be sad day when all the old school truckers retire. My bad that's happening now.
Yep. I’m done in 3 yrs👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻
@diannemc3179 would you recommend new drivers to get in or should they pursue a different career.
Sooo now to be a lawyer you do not have to take the bar exam. Now they don't want truck drivers to know how to be able to back up and dock a trailer. What could possibly go wrong here🤷♂
Absolutely nothing everything will be just fine lmfao
That’s ok politicians are not expected to know and obey the constitution they swore to uphold either.
The rates now are insane, a professional owner operator cannot exist on a buck a mile.
Stop expecting self driving trucks! They ain’t coming anytime soon if ever! Think about it for a second man! They don’t even send trains unmanned and they are on rails for Christ sakes! They ain’t sending 80k down any damn road in any damn town or freeway without someone who knows how to operate it. Jeeez!
I would expect flying cars before self driving semi trucks. That semi would be a huge liability.
@@R.O.T.C._SEEMyeah, they’re basically putting everything in the hands of “a sensor”. As for it being a liability, yeah whenever there is an accident any company using self driving truck will be sued into oblivion, since the whole supposed purpose is for there to be no accidents since they’ve eliminated driver error
@@R.O.T.C._SEEMalso how often do sensors go out? It would only take one sensor to go out, probably happens a lot more than the 16% of crashes involving a semi where the semi is at fault. And that’s not even counting if the sensors read everything correctly, account for strange roadways or what they do for small obstacles
I've been saying this for the longest. We do not have the infrastructure for self driving trucks. Just like you guys said all it takes is one sensor to go off or not read right and that shit is a 80k lb missile going down the road. Self driving trucks won't be a thing that takes over for a very very long time. You're talking multiple decades. Good luck having a computer control a big ass truck. Technology glitches out all the time and the companies operating these things will indeed be sued into fkn oblivion. It's insanely irresponsible to leave something like that up to computers. GPS doesn't even work on Google half the time so how do they expect to move every bit of freight needed with that kind of technology. It's not happening. All this regulation is doing is price fixing goods so companies make more off of the same products they already sale.
@ak_getright9905 Yea like a tree or boulder in the middle of the road.
I recently got my cdl back in September. Had to learn straight, off set, alley and parallel parking. Because in oregon the testers will have you do straight, alley and then offset or parallel parking to get your cdl. When I tested I had to offset instead of parallel. Also was trained on a manual. I recently found out some schools only use automatics and that was crazy to me. It feels like the system wants to get rid of the older, smaller companies that have old manuals and can't afford to switch over to a fleet of newer automatics.
I tested in Nebraska passed in February 9th 2024. The class was manual transmission 9 weeks. On test day it was straight back ,offset righr and an alley dock i got all my points on alley bout failed. But yeah that was the last of those maneuvers on the tests now its back to cones and turning like the 80s 90s.
Well they’re doing a great job. So many don’t know how. Been out here 23 years and the quality of drivers has only gotten worse.
Get rid of the fmcsa we never needed them the government needs to stay out of this industry
I'm all for that!! Anytime the corrupt government gets involved, the working man/woman gets fucked!
More accidents...more lawyers...more money
I got my CDL and just got hired by some company making $25 an hour.. been doing many things a driver shouldn’t be doing or involved it’s not worth it right now ima just get back my regular job and I don’t have stress about it and have time home everyday!
$25 good bro
@@christianmorales7166 not really my buddy at all warehouse is making $26:50 a hours plus ot and don’t have to worry about the dot regulations or the risks
I was told by a driver Warehouses are eliminating the truck drivers need to back into docks. They have drivers drop the trailer and somebody backs it to the dock and you go park or whatever & they call you.
The one place he pointed out was Target warehouse. I think its great. The worst thing a driver does is backing, its a know fact. Why glamorize it!!!!!
False... I drove for Target
Were being attacked on all fronts and we need to file a class action lawsuit against the government.
Anybody can drive forward, but it takes a skilled person to back up a rig with precision. Some people have difficulty driving forward, so yes, it should be in the test where you have to back up in multiple different ways.
I bet they never teach these students how to change the airlines why and how to slide the fifth wheel and the tandem
They absolutely don’t teach at all!You are Right on the money
I just did it and they did the straight back the offset and the 90.
Just had to rush into a loveseat in Iowa Louisiana cuz i had ten min on the clock lol was running behind because of a random roadside inspection i would hv had plenty of time but trooper didn’t give two shits
I just recently got my CDL license back after 25yrs of working offshore and a lot of things has changed and all of the he skills test has changed as far the backing has changed as well, we still practiced parallel parking but ally docking.
I maybe parallel parked maybe twice. Ally docking was one of the major pass or fails when I got my cdl. With that taken out we can expect a rise in backing incidents even though they make up majority of the accidents.
Ive had foreigners offer to pay me $20 - $40 to back their truck up for them. One guy was from Afghanistan and didnt know english
How did he get his CDL oh I know it was just given to him with no questions asked
I tell people every day don't get a CDL.....DO NOT GET A CDL.
I don’t want our value to decrease, getting a CDL requires rigorous training that not everyone can do.
But I remember back when I was a new driver, all I wanted was a chance, there’re some individuals who are very fast learners and thrive with the accelerated training just like I did. The accelerated training wasn’t intended for everyone either just the few who actually make it with 0 accidents and reports on their record throughout their career.
Professional drivers do hard maneuvers all the time alley docking being one of them.
Hell, cdl schools dont teach people how to drive a truck. Thry teach someone tovpass thr test. Nothing more, nothing less
So true the school in Mineral Wells Texas even sells you a cheat sheet, with key words to pass the pre trip.
It's for foreigners to be able to pass the test and take your job
California roads are like going on Indiana Jones at Disney. Maybe 20th time is a charm for getting our roads fixed.
So I've found out that the reason they did away wjth those skills for testing was bc too many drivers have been having far too many accidents bc they just don't know how to judge the front and rear of their vehicles. I recently got my cdl, and this was the reasoning behind it from what I was told. That's why they have you place your front and rear bumpers in a 2ft box. The parallel parking is still kinda there , it's just been tweaked a bit.
It's Not the Government for once it's the pic of the Gene Pool that we have Now 90 percent of U drive Automatics EPA DEF Egr ELD Trucks and then the Quality of People to pic threw everyone should have to Know how 2 drive aleast a 10 spd with Shoes on.... Plain and Simple...
Government is the one pushing for automatics, def and the rest of the nonsense
School's is to teach you how to pass .... doesnt matter what it is ... its simple as that.... the same reason why college students dont get jobs after graduation .... the school aint teach them nothing ... but how to pass they need to come to the real world and learn ... its that simple and not just in trucking
Check out the government websites - the new testing system - the area needed is a Smaller Footprint!
Who does this benefit? Many more states testing sites can now do CDL testing due to the smaller footprint. CDL Schools will benefit due to a lack of space with the smaller footprint for a training facility. Does the new CDL Students benefit?
Swift needs drivers and we all know a swift driver can’t back up so this is perfect
I wanna drive in the only one from the family that doesn’t drive semis but these school and all these extra stuff ain’t helping to get one any help always been my dream to drive like my uncle and dad and brother ect.
The less trained drivers from all countries driving here in America. The worse off they are the worse they do than the government can use his excuse for speed. Limiters
Soo? In the event of an accident not only can the other party be sued but the school that certified them as well? 🤨
How do you take alley dock out? How are these guys supposed to back into deliveries truck stops? I see guys who can't even back straight lol I figured they got a look alike to take test for them.
Whats in the driving test is different in every state
All these foreign drivers think the rules don't apply to them.
1:25 yes its the governments fault thats why truck driver salaries have been stagnant or lower since the fmcsa deregulated the industry in 1980
I ally dock so much it's ridiculous. Even dropping trailers at Amazon it's the same concept. And even my school told me 4 yrs ago. Oh you won't alley dock that much B.S
Boy oh boy oh boy oh boy this is gonna be a banger video 🤙
I have been hit twice in one week . Once by a hot shot and by a Arabic company both in tx
Those Arabics do not know how to drive. I was at a love's, parked on the side walk for the night. Every vehicle had no problem turning out the the lot but this one vehicle. Dude was hugging the right side of thy turn and was mad that I was in the way. It was so much space that another truck went around him.
I got hit 2 days ago at a truck stop by someone doing a pull up while backing into a spot. He literally drove forward straight into me
Politic stay out of it 😂😂😂😂 We surviving Biden right now…….😂😂😂😂😂those people don’t even know what coming out of their mouth anymore
Raise hell praise Dale!
Hi Alex
This can't be real!
I hope he's an owner operator. If not, he's unemployed😂😂
In californai you don’t have to do alley dock anymore , 🤣 dudes bojtta get license and accident first week on job hahaha
it's obvious
ty
Good drivers are being penalized now and leaving for a better life
No. Nobody else has business joining. This industry is overcrowded and they keep lying about it. What needs to happen… older folks, 60+ you had a good run. Enjoy the rest of your time on this earth, go home for good, spend time with your loved ones and make memories, we’re all dust in the wind eventually.

Because they not gonna have a need for drivers.
They gonna always needs drivers but they may do a major cut.
I bet they never teach these students how to change the airlines why and how to slide the fifth wheel and the tandem
