😅Hey, I've got something for you. I was watching around the 20 minute mark when he was pulling into the pull thru to park... you're telling him go left, go right, wait to turn, turn now.. but you don't tell him why he's waiting to start the turn or why he goes left or right. And he's just blindly following what you tell him to do. How is he supposed to learn when he has no idea what he is doing these maneuvers for. Like waiting to turn so the trailer tracks more to the left to clear the other truck. But he does not know the reason you say wait to start the turn is to get the trailer in position. Go left, go right means nothing if he doesn't understand why he is doing it. You do the same thru the whole video. At 22:14 you start giving directions again and I'm looking at that poor guy sitting there looking so confused. Your telling him which way to go and turn but not why he's doing it. You say let's just put it over there and then your pointing and telling him how to turn. You see and know where you want the trailer.. but that poor guy is just looking in a general direction of "over there", but he has no clue what you're wanting him to do or what space you're wanting him to park that trailer.. he's just blindly turn the trailer "over there".
Why not try explaining exactly what you wanting him to do... like saying we're going to take the trailer to the far left and park in the open space between those trailers. Or explain how when you turn the tractor farther left that it will pull the trailer over more to the left to position the trailer where you need it to go when your making the turn or starting your backing.
You just saying turn left, turn right, turn farther... that does not help him learn how to maneuver the truck to make his turns or position the truck for backing because he has no idea where he's going he's just turn left until you tell him it's enough.
I just see him so confused listening to your directions.
If you look at him at 23:08 your giving him direction to get set up to back in with those trailers. Watch him.. he does not once look in his mirrors he's just spinning that steering wheel in whatever direction you say and he's watching you for approval or his turn direction and how much to turn. He has no situational awareness and no idea what that trailer is doing. He's just spinning the steering wheel where you tell him to.

Observations. 1. Gloves ALWAYS when working outside of the truck. Hand injuries are VERY expensive and hurt. 2. ALWAYS make your FNG back into a space. When it's their truck they can use pull-through's. (unless you really have to pee) 3. NEVER take off your seat belt when you move a truck. 4. When you are backing a trailer, and you have your head out the window looking at the back of the trailer, if you want the trailer to go right, you turn your wheel to the right in 1/4 increments.

Very great patience in training! Your trainee just needs to relax a bit more and loosen up he seems really nervous and unsure of himself. Nervousness sometimes leads to accidents. And I remember a great deal of shifting through NYC traffic first starting out lol I never had the leisure of automatic 😅.

You’re telling me, no ideas how to take a turn wide or swing the opposite way before cutting it back. No idea about stopping distance, doesn’t check mirrors, rides breaks instead of using jakes or letting off the accelerator. Automatic trucks make it too easy for people to get in these truck and think they’re drivers

My instructor absolutely loved me when he trained me to drive, because I wouldn't stop asking questions. Not because I didn't know something. I drove the M900 series semi trucks in the Army, so I knew quite a bit about them, but I'd rather ask questions and make sure I'm doing something correctly and to the SOP the company has laid out, than to guess and mess something up. AQA=Ask questions always.

I've done my application for Prime Inc and spoke with a recruiter! Everything looks good, I just got to get my CLP. Once I've gotten that, I will be heading to Springfield, MO for my training and I CAN'T WAIT!! I can't wait to start my career as a trucker, enduring and overcoming all the challenges that come with it. It's going to be so worth it. I am excited to get my training from Prime In. I was referred by a previous Prime driver who had nothing but good things to say about the company. I am looking forward to everything this industry has to offer. I really hope I get trained by the guy in the video. He seems very cool, levelheaded and patient! I love looking at these videos to get a glips of how my training will be with Prime!

I am trying to get into IT but will use the CDL as backup just in case I can't find a job after the bootcamps. Might seems greedy but I need to do everything to support my family...

I remeber training with prime back in 2019, what i know know about the industry i wouldn't go back to them, theres jobs that offer a guaranteed daily rate, so working for cpm, is not worth it at all especially for a company driver, but for training its top notch after you have even a year under you, leave immediately, because 1200 a week at that point, is not worth dealing with this job, min 2k a week, average.

You can’t teach backing a trailer, only give set up scenarios! Almost anyone with a good sense of driving will be able to drive forward. Making turns with a tractor trailer can be taught somewhat! But in essence you have too teach yourself how to drive and maneuver a 53’ trailer through trial and error!
