Wow i watched the whole video in one go. Fantastic video, super clear explanations. Also now i know what to check for my 2.4 jtdm that struggle to start when it is just a little warm, but not fully warm.
I'm actually diagnosing my non-starting engine right now :) It starts immediately when spraying some brake cleaner in the inlet though. Changed the injectors, worked for a day, then stopped. Changed the high pressure pump, worked for a day, then stopped. These problems did start when refueling, so pumping all of the diesel out today as the next step...
@@alfaromeonoproblem I wish I knew. This is the last try I did today: ua-cam.com/video/KykwCax6fRc/v-deo.html. MAF is disconnected on this try, but it still wouldn't start. When it was connected the value was somewhere around 17 I think. It does say water present in fuel, so that's weird... At least it starts now when the engine is warm, before the high pressure pump was replaced (second hand one though) it wouldn't even do that. The weird thing is, that when the high pressure pump was replaced it was left standing deliberately for 4 hours and it started immediately. Next day, nothing again. I'm afraid if fuel really is the problem it also f****d up the new injectors and pump by now...
@@alfaromeonoproblem I tried to get as close as I could. This is my video ua-cam.com/video/XBp10QhvVVs/v-deo.html . MES doesn't seem to have any synchronization parameter.
Hi, i like your videos, they are full of details. 👍 I have a question about codes: i have a alfa 159 2.0 170hp and on highway i had error P010F but after driving 20km in city the engine fault icon has disappeared. Do you have any idea why?
Hello. It means you have a issue on the mass air flow. Not the sensor but something on the circuit. All intake, EGR and exhaust. A torn intake pipe, a faulty EGR, a clogged exhaust and or dpf. If the air does not pass correctly through the system it can not be measured correctly. Next week o will release a video to how to test the MAF. Alfa Romeo? No problem!
Thanks for fast answering 👏 I have forgotten to mention that my mass air flow sensor is quite oily on the outside, so this could mean that i have a problem with the pipe? Its too loose?
Hello. Try to feel is the pipes and tubes are loose to the touch. Pass your fingers to feel for cracks. The oil is not very normal in quantity but not normal to leek out too much.
Have a weird problem. After about 2hr drive, left car for 5min in parking lot - car would crank, but not start. Thought I'd let it cool down. After 1hr, car started fine. The car could be started some times after that, but not many. Ordered crankshaft position sensor. Changed it (I don' t know about other models, but this was pretty hard on a 159 2.4 q4. After sensor change - same problem - can't start the car. Engine cranks over fine. Diagnostics tool shows approx 250 RPM when cranking (with camshaft sensor disconnected), almost 500bar of fuel rail pressure, but engine does not start. I don't see any immobilizer issues, or fuses blown. Could it be a camshaft position sensor?
Hello. Camshaft and crankshaft sensors on the cars are very good, I have never so far have seen one fail. Unlike the old ones with the long cable. Check on the parameters the authorization to start and coded key.
Please help. My 1.9 jtd 115hp engine in a Stilo started to start badly. It still starts in 1-2 seconds, but it like tries to fire, shakes and jerks. It's almost like the one you got at 8:25 in the video. It almost starts, the starter speed increases for a moment, but then it has to crank more. The problem is most pronounced between 0 to 5*C. If it's hotter of below zero it starts ok. I checked the injectors return fuel quantities, changed the crankshaft sensor, checked for fuel leaks, changed the glow plugs. It doesn't happen constantly, but at 0 to 5C it is most likely to happen. When it finally starts, and then I immediately turn it off and start again it starts normal. Last winter it was perfectly ok, and now it crapped out.
@@alfaromeonoproblem Thanks for advice. You might be right, because the last summer I changed the injectors and put four used ones, as it was smoking black on the original ones. However these used injectors were checked on a machine before I bought them and they turned out ok. They had the same part number and came out of another Stilo 1.9 jtd 115hp. And I checked the return fuel quantities manually and they were all almost the same. I also checked how quick it builds fuel pressure and it gets to 300 bar in about 1,2s after few days not being started. If it was the new used fuel injectors it would be a bummer. I still have the old ones but it's too cold now to pop them back in.
History is almost impossible if the was not serviced on the dealership network.. About the vin based equipment, check on the description of the video a link for the eper. Type your vin and find out.
Thank You very much for Your vids......very helpful.

Wen it does not start, what is missing?

Can you read the same parameters as I can?

No fuel pressure man.. check out the fuel regulator on the hi pressure pump

@janussQv yes, for sure! In live data, or parameters

Hello. Thanks for watching. They seems to me like injectors. Remove them and have them be checked out on a testing machine

Do you happen to know any ways to find car history (for Alfa Romeo) or at least what equipment it has based on VIN? Other than Car Vetical. -_-

@@alfaromeonoproblem Thanks. UA-cam deleted my reply to your comment. Oh well...
