...so funny, I was just watching Betty White in a DVD I bought of that old 50s show she was in, Date With the Angles....I'd never seen that one before, really enjoying it. Your right, these old Password shows are great too.
Fun fact: the female contestant, Marthanna Banks (Phillips) only just passed away earlier this year - April 30, 2018. She was 82 years old, according to an online obituary.
I'm really enjoying the episodes, I'm shielding and stuck at home so it's lovely to see all these fantastic people and buzzy word play from a more enjoyable and sophisticated age. Thank you for posting them.
As a VERY recent subscriber I want to thank you so much for these awesome shows, probably my absolute favorite game show ever. Marthanna was such a sweet little sprite, I hope she has a long happy life 😊. I just can't get over how much trouble they had solving herb, oregano is one of a few clues including thyme 😮
It cracked me up when Marthana said maybe Dina doesn’t cook. Her grandfather started Post Cereals. And her mother Marjorie Merriweather Post. She purchased the Birdseye Frozen Foods Corporation. Before most folks even owned freezers. 🌽🥕
All of those facts could very well explain why Dina might not cook; she grew up wealthy enough to have others cook for her. Still, interesting to learn about her background: thanks for sharing!
I find her, Barbara Rush, and Vera Miles in the same category in beauty and talent. Barbara is my favorite. Shame, SOME people think only of "worth" in monetary means? I hate that question in the biographies.. Worth? A movie,an actor?.. Spencer Tracy, in inherited the wind? What's the "worth" to OPEN A mind? This really a message to the other reply! Thanks.
That one contestant was a sharp cookie! She was good. When the word "Pump" came up, all I could think of as a clue was gasoline-but they never used it. I wonder if they had used it, the password would have actually been figured out. Nice episode!
She certainly was! I hope her kids and grandchildren got the chance to see this. Back then, no one had VCRs to save the show to replay at home. Nowadays, everyone would have a recording posted everywhere.
I don't know if they had sump pumps back in those days but I would've said "Sump!" Sort of drawn-out, indicating am leading to another word (connected). Plus it rhymes which could help.
Wowzers Marthanna was one hell of a player, really on the ball, but it was a bit distracting her talking between clues, I think Allen was struggling a bit to keep control, which normally he does so well. Even today what she won was quite sizable, but with inflation....
What's funny is the ONLY other place I've ever heard the referenced Chicago restaurant name spoken (Pump Room) is in a comedy sketch by the Upright Citizens Brigade entitled "Ass Pennies." (If you are sensitive to potentially offensive words , etc, you may want to pass on looking it up :-)
I didn't know about the Chicago Pump Room, but in Bath, UK, there is a famous restaurant called the Pump Room. It's been in business for over two hundred years. I've never been, but it is mentioned in a Georgette Heyer book, I think. It has that name because it was near the famous Bath hot springs.
26! And she had a sixth child, too. There’s an online obit. on her life. It sounded pretty wonderful. Her first husband passed away young. She remarried and added a couple of step-children. A whole bunch of grands and great-grands.
Finally, somebody who knew how to play Password. She was an ace.
I've always adored Abe Burrows he is always a amusing & clever, Dina always chic. I love Password it's such a fun game.
You need help
I am absolutely loving this show!!! Betty White💖 brought me to the episode with her in it and I am hooked! This is UA-cam gold 💖
Same here..Betty White was so charming and of course a beautiful lady . Allan Luden was the perfect gentleman for her.
agreed - I hope they upload every episode

That woman contestant was amazing
I felt bad for the the guy contestant

Thank you for the update.
I'm from South Georgia, but her accent just killed me, it was so thick....

Smart lady! Sounded like a lovely person, as described in her obituary. Also, it said she had six children-at the time of this show, she have five. :)
She was class. Beautiful. Pure class.
I enjoy these year after year!
I do wish I'd been alive and a grown up in these days. Life seems quite idyllic. Thanks for sharing.
I was in high school then. Life wasn't idyllic for everyone.
A great episode of Password! I'm enjoying these shows very much. These people were on the same wavelength together, which is so fascinating to watch.
Thanks for the comments and the likes! That really helps the channel when it comes to youtube search rankings! I loved that contestant as well :)
This show can never get old or boring and it let's you see so many classic celebs all having a good time 😍👌 I Appreciate each and every episode 🙌💖🌟

She was probably the best contestent EVER on Password!

Dina Merrill's hair is GORGEOUS! She always had the sleekest, biggest hairstyles.
She was stunning. Gorgeous woman- also aged beautifully.
@@January. hear me roar
Hairspray and a stylist!

@@lawsonj39 l read a biography about her mother Marjorie. It was SO interesting.👒🧤👜
Boy, Dina Merrill was a beautiful, classy woman. Underrated actress.
Don't forget filthy rich too !
I find her, Barbara Rush, and Vera Miles in the same category in beauty and talent.
Barbara is my favorite.

@@rosered103 Thank you :-)
Yes
@@rosered103 Thanks!
I mean, sure, Dina Merrill was gorgeous, stylish, smart, witty, charming and incredibly rich, but what else did she have going for her!
Marthanna Banks one of the sharpest, quick witted contestants.
Dina was so pretty and she is lively and pleasant
If only this were Password Plus. I can only imagine what "personality," "drunk," "policy," and, "herb" would've brought up.
"Maybe she doesn't cook." 13:05 Hilarious
It's crazy that during the 'pump' round, none of them thought of 'heart'. Such is life.
Or they could have said..."gasoline!"
I was thinking the same thing!
Marthana really wanted in on the act! Love that suh-thun drawl.

Annoying little twit
Dina could walk down the street today and she wouldn't look outdated at all.....👍
Abe, another WML cast-off who was never missed
Burrows would share in the Pulitzer Prize the musical received...
Really?Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I almost forgot to comment. Tahm!
It sure is funny when Jack Clark laughs
Why didn't they say BICYCLE and GAS for pump
I would have said "Hydraulic ... "
Nothing change at all thickness better then everyone

The president ? Must be talking about Kennedy ..
He said he was at the theater, could be Lincoln
5:26 only thing that i could come up with is "distancing"
I cant believe that girl has 5 children ! She doesnt look a day over 18 .
26! And she had a sixth child, too. There’s an online obit. on her life. It sounded pretty wonderful. Her first husband passed away young. She remarried and added a couple of step-children. A whole bunch of grands and great-grands.
Don't be ridiculous, she looks thirty!.....
Many folks here suggesting ways to get to pump - for me, "bilge"
Inflator?
The only game show celeb I liked less than Abe was the letch from
WML who pissed off John when he kissed Miss America
+Joe Ambrose The humorist, Hal Block. He thought he was being funny. Much worse than kissing Miss America, he had the nerve to kiss Bette Davis.
@@barrykendrick3146 Wow. I hope she pulled a Patton and slapped his face
Why would you say golf if the word was party
Connect the clues !!!
"Sure is refreshing to have pretty bright girls"
As if they're usually stupid? XD
Women in the past always had to hide their intellect!
I love this show but boy were they sexist: 9:28 sounds as if beauty and intelligence are usually mutually exclusive in women ...
It is from the sixties, and women had to appear less than what they were.
