I did a mod to fix the FX loop and now he can use whatever he wants in the loop and I’d strongly consider doing it as it’s a very simple mod / ua-cam.com/video/9kMamfOLRmE/v-deo.html your a fairly handy guy I’m sure you could do it easy 👍 good luck and thanks for all the awesome videos!

Jon this amp loves the presence cranked specially on vintage mode. You then just control the fizz with the treble. Also there's a magic sweet spot with the masters around noon (you'll know were it is because beyond a certain point the amp overloads and sounds bad) where the amp really comes alive you then attenuate with the output knob.

At first I hated the FX Loop on my Rectifier because I didn't understand how it works and in which case to use it. It's a parallel loop instead of the usual serial loop. That means that whatever you do with it, you always have a version of your sound untouched by the effects you run through the loop. The effect pedals you're using need to be able to be set to 100% wet, otherwise you'll overload the signal chain and you'll hear some weird thumping sound. I use it with a pitch shifter set to 100% wet with a up 7th for my lead and a bit of delay. It keeps my orignal signal but blends in the effect. It sounds pristine.

Jon, I've always been a Recto guy, and lately my mission has been to buy the earliest S/N of each model I can find (for a reasonable price), or the best example in the best condition... My current favorite is my 1992 Dual Rec Rev-F, my 1995 Dual Rec Rev-G, and my 1999 Triple Rec Rev-G. I just picked up a really early (pre-500) Single Rec that is set to arrive on Wednesday. I'm kind of excited. From what I can gather, the Series 1 Single Rec's have a very tight (almost boosted) sound, which is very similar to how a Rev-F Dual Rec sounds vs. a Rev-G Dual Rec. If you ever get a chance to own/play a Rev-F Dual Rec, do it... Mine is a very early 1992 (pre-1,200 S/N) so it still has the MK-III transformers in it. It's such a nasty and snarly beast, but still has that super heavy and huge headroom of the Duals. From your video, what I'm expecting the Series 1 Single Rec to sound like, is basically a Rev-F Dual without all that extra headroom. Which will be a cool sound for my collection.
Also, the best boost pedal I've ran on my Rev-G's is my Pepper's Pedals Dirty Tree. The fact it's so adjustable means you can really dial it in.

A Rectifier is still on my wish list of guitar amps, and I think you just made a good case for this one. I was fond of the Vintage/Modern/Ch Clone capabilities of the original 2ch Duals, and had (mistakenly) thought something would be lost with having both of the “crush modes” on the same channel, but you brought out some sounds with the “Pushed” mode I didn’t think the Single Recto could do. Tbh, I like a layered guitar tone and use a volume pedal to clean up, and really don’t do a lot of channel switching once I get a distortion tone I like, so I guess my whole misguided prejudice against this amp kind of falls down. This thing sounds killer, right and tight in a way lost on a lot of larger heads. Thanks for opening my eyes on this gem! Great sound and riffs as always!

I have a single recto rev 2 and a two channel triple rec from 1999. They absolutely sound different. The single is a little leaner and meaner. The triple has more clarity and more authority. I have found I prefer 6l6s in the triple and I run el34s in the single which also gives them a different character. I feel like I can run the gain a little higher on the single and the gain structure is a little more aggressive and gnarly but in a good way. They are still both rectos and have the sound associated with those amps but are voiced slightly different. I use a gridslammer overdrive or an sd1 to tighten them up a little and dial out some of the looseness but both are monsters when you get that eq dialed in and shape it a little more with the overdrive. I don’t know if you have played a lot of mark series amps but I highly recommend them as well for tighter and more percussive punch. They are more focused and don’t have the same “sub” low end that makes rectos sound so massive but mark amps are killer for some of those old school metal tones like 80s Metallica and Dream Theater that you mentioned. Very different from rectos and also amazing amps especially the JP2C. If you like Master of Puppets the JP will get you in that tonal spectrum by just plugging straight into it. I never had an original IIC+ but I did own a blue stripe Mk III back in the day and currently have a mk v and JP2C. They are all great amps in my opinion. Anyway sorry for the long post - great video and awesome tones and playing.

vraiment une super vidéo, tu as su bien mettre en valeur, ce rectifier, vivement la prochaine vidéo comparative. Tu connais la période de fabrication des séries 1 solo head ?

This is my favorite amp! I've owned my Single Rec V1 for about 12 years now and absolutely love every aspect of it! I don't gig with it any more because of how hard it would be to replace 😬 Still use it for recording though!

Have you had a chance to try the Mesa Badlander 100 50 or 25 watt heads? I would love to hear a demo of one of those from you. Single rec sounds pretty sick. Awesome Demo!

Have you ever recorded a signal dual and triple ?
If so , is this the ultimate Mesa sound .

Best Mesa I have ever owned also. I have with three of them one being the Rectoverb 50.

Great amp and great demo. I have the Single Rectifier Rect-O-Verb 50 rev 1. (same as this one just with reverb). As you mention - the parallel loop is difficult. You have to use a pedal with kill dry- and only one pedal/effect machine in the loop. I am using a H9 in kill dry mode in the loop and that works great. Have just tracked a few songs with it. It works great in a mix.

Convert that fx loop. It’s super easy and then you’ll need nothing special to use all your pedals

@@RavageRitual1986Yeah - I have thought about doing that. Maybe will do. On the other hand I am mostly only using a boost in front and a delay :-)

Killer video! It definitely has that old school metal tone. I happen to prefer the dual rectifier multi-watt to the rest. It has the sweetest midrange. The triple is a bit much and the solo is a bit too little. I could definitely be fine playing any of three but the dual is the Goldie locks amp for me.

There any tonality differences between Single Rectifier vs. Rectoverb 50 besides added reverb?? Don’t know which one to get.
I’m looking for Cannibal Corpse tone at low volumes.

the single rec has always been the best sounding rectifier because there's way less stuff going on it. it has better transient fidelity.

Single rectifiers are massive gain amps. I have a rectoverb that is a monster!

I think the best Mesa/BoOgie I’ve ever played was a 50 watt rectifier head. I don’t remember if it was called a single rectifier or rectoverb or what but that thing was out of this world. Sucks I don’t see them on their site anymore

The only problem with this amp is it basically starts to fall apart when you push the volume. Fine for studio and PA support. I had one but sold it due to the issue I listed above.

That’s just not true. I gigged with one for years and it never fell apart at high volume. In fact, it sounds like shit at lower volume.

Great video! I usually run mine on vintage, boosted with am mxr m77, but on modern i don't. Try it with a P90! My favorite guitar has sd phat cats and grab it more than anything (have an epiphone lee malia rd, slasher with stock pu's for now, but have some p-rails i'm really excited for...phoenix 7 bm, and an ibanez ftm33...i feel we have similar tastes when it comes to instruments lol) anyway. Loved the vid! Can't wait for the comparison video!
