A Roller Coaster "TOO DANGEROUS" for America? - The Wild Wind Story

Peter tells the story of an Itallian coaster model that never came to the United States after a failed installation in New York. But is a dangerous roller coaster or is it not even among the mildest coasters out there?
Music by NCTRNM
Rode the one in Germany and I was just dumbfounded because I didn’t experience any major G spikes. I was expecting to ride a legendary Illegal roller coaster and ended up finding a mediocre portable coaster that was fun
I also wouldn't say that it is rough. It might be shaky, but nothing compared to slcs
was it the one at friezitland geiselwind, and what row did u ride it in
Craycray For Coasters I think four times in the front and twice in the back (Only that many times because they send you around twice)
the test dummies complained about the Gs haha
@@Lyllified I Rode it at Freizeitland Geiselwind and the G-forces and the roughness really surprised me. So i suffered some minor injuries after the ride.
Geez... They should've named it Hot Potato The Ride....

It’s amusing to hear of so much concern for rider comfort and safety from the park that operates Super Flight! 😂

Awesome idea. But with the support structure being questionable, RMC wouldn't have taken that job
Okay that would probably be one of the top RMC’s along with SV

@@jaywadd316 exactly. They could have but it wouldn't have been the son beast entirely
number one should have been what if that wild wind coaster actually opened at Playland
Intimidator 305 is a good example of how high intensity coasters can be a gamble for investments. Of course, as mentioned in the video, it isnt as bad as the wild wind, but it was found by some to be too forceful to enjoy. While it is still acclaimed by many enthusiasts, it doesnt seem as popular as the park had hoped. I like how Eltororyan explains how it would have done much better at a larger park, Kings Dominion doesnt have as big a coaster lineup and may not have been ready for such an intimidating ride.
I suffered minor injuries (on my head, ears and hands) after riding this Coaster. Because i didn't expect so high G-Forces and such a roughness so i didn't press my head back strong enough during the first lap. But the Coaster was also not working 100% properly on this day (for example the seat restrains did not open like they are supposed to so they had to be manually overwritten).
i can already feel my neck snapping on that "loop"
I still don’t get it, I rode cobra at Geiselwind and I don’t remember it being that intense, it just looked impossible.
You mean Geiselwind

@Vegeta Well really all original rct games.
“Da popo be fast on yo ass looks too intense for me”
Very nicely put together video and very entertaining as well. Thanks for posting this.
We have that roller coaster here in the Philippines. I rode it once (2 laps), and I didn't find it intense, but rather boring.
it’s not the same
And it's gone now. Bec they removed all rides in Circle of Fun.
The irony of the death count in 1999 is that in and around that time, Zamperla would install the same steel wild mouse model (but not the exact ride) that killed two people in NJ at Gillian’s Wonderland Pier.
Rode the one in Athens just before it was sold to another park. It was my 930th coaster and I was pretty stoked about not only adding a new coaster, but a new coaster model to my checklist. Rode in the front seat and was the only one of the train. Lift, turn, drop, nice. Then the inversion. The shoulder bars whacked me in the side of the head so hard, I saw stars. I had to catch my glasses, which had almost been knocked from my face. The rest of the ride might as well have been called "Mike Tyson: the ride" - on pulling back into the station, the ride ops said, "no one in line, you can go again" and I said, "OMG, WHY???" - It surpassed Goudurix as my least fave steel coaster of all time.
Request: The Rise & Fall of Rolling Thunder at Six Flags Great Adventure!
That ride is my childhood.
Simple. It opened in the late 1970's and closed in 2013 to make room for a queue line.
Cody I hope you’re not trying to make some kind of point. Is this the same Cody Geer that was adamant about spreading ignorance earlier?
That ride was unbearable by the end of its life- glad it's gone

All this talk of tiny rides pulling massive G's, Costerpedia says that Desert Storm pulls 5.5 G's, which is more than Mindbender. Its such an obscure ride that there aren't a lot of videos of it. Can anyone that's ridden Desert Storm confirm this?
Sometimes they do pull more intense gs. The layout has a lot to do with it as well.
i love your channel!! always such interesting videos
I rode the Wild Wind model in the Philippines. As forceful as the sidewinder was, the worst part was probably the helix that rattled like hell and felt like you were tumbling down a mountain in a barrel.
Thank you so much! I must have seen this built at Playland when I was 6 years old, and at the time even I thought that it looked impossibly small to have an inversion. I legitimately believed that I made it up in my mind because I only remembered seeing it once and the next visit it was completely gone and I wasn't ever able to find a record of it existing as an adult, so thanks for letting me know that I'm not going crazy! If I remember correctly it had a red track and stood where the Sky Skater and Family Flyer are today.
I went to Playland in 2000 on family trip to there and Coney Island (I was 10 at the time). I do also recall seeing a red coaster with what I thought was a really small loop close to the ground (probably the sidewinder at the perfect angle) so thank you for helping me confirm 20-year-old memories.
4 days ago I rode such a roller coaster in the Freizeitland Geiselwind. Yes, the ride was a bit rough and my ears ached because they kept being pressed against the protective bars. Otherwise I found the ride neither dangerous nor particularly intense. With better protection bars, the ride would have been quite pleasant.
Dangerous roller coaster! (Not clickbait)

I have ridden Cobra at Geiselwind a couple of times when I visited the Park and I kinda liked it. Don't know if I got lucky on my rides or if it is better than it's reputation, but I really don't get why it get's so much hate.
I rode Windjammer at Knott's Berry Farm the short time it operated. Talk about a pain in the neck. This coaster looks like a cakewalk, that I want to try!
Hello from Phoenix Arizona!🔥
We have on of those in the Philippines very close to where I live and is still one of my most anticipated roller coasters as it's still in operation.
Better this than having my neck and shoulders smashed on an SLC, or having my groin bashed on a stand up!
Still like the idea of a top 10 nicknames for coasters: Hang & Bangs (Vekoma SLCs); Hurt your knees (Hercules from Dorney Park)
Thighcrush!
I've ridden the Cobra a couple of laps on the fair in Tilburg (NL).
And now there is one at the most legendary park at all...Wonderland Eurasia! Seriously, you should do a video on this park.
Aaah a video of our Dutch ride-specialist.. Xtremerides :)
This just looks like so much fun.
I just rode Cobra in Freizeitland Geiselwind last week. It wasn't as intense as I expected it to be. The sidewinder was fun, coming out of the helix was extremely rough.
I rode the cobra while it traveled in germany. It really hurt. I hit my head kinda bad on the restrains. I like rough rides, but this feels like being tossed into an iron maiden from the Terminator. But like other extremly painful coasters (looking at you "drifting" coaster with side swinging cars) it's still a credit. Im not gonna ride the Cobra again when visiting tbe park in Geiselwind, germany though (where it currently is).
I'm pretty curious as to how the Eurofighter came to be. It looks as if it were originally designed with the goal of making a real life ride in the style of something from a cartoon, with its zany steep lifthills, small cars, inversion capabilities, and partial H-bar track. It then found a niche as a small compact high Thrill ride without a very high price at the expense of a low capacity, and a decade or so later came the Infinity, which seems like a higher capacity sister of the eurofighter
I was on the traveling version at the Herbstmesse Basel fun-fair some years ago and I loved it. I don’t think it’s too forceful...or rough, by far not as rough as the swinging coaster!
I made a B&M hyper in planet coaster with a realistic layout and stats other than the fact that it pull 7g’s...
oof
Your stock office footage is 💯.
For you upcoming "Scariest Disney Attraction", I wanna talk about "Alien Encounter". I never got to experience that ride, but from what I seen and heard, Alien Encounter might just be the most terrifying, most out of place, most trama and nightmare educing, most screwed up attractions ever created for any Disney Park, Period! Too bad it was replaced with one of the worst Disney attractions (second only behind Superstar Limo at California Adventure) Stitch's Great Escape . BTW, I went in 2004 and got to experience the ride during it's soft opening.
I remember seeing this built at Motorworld in Virginia. I think it was red at that time. They also add a spinning wild mouse for a brief time.
I remember seeing it built at playland as a kid and it was definitely red... although I kinda thought I was imagining it because I couldn't find a record of it existing before this video haha
Thats gotta be safer than the little coaster with the tight loop thats currently at Keansburg. Thought it was going to snap my spine in half
I am 6ft 5 and I loved it. So crazy and unique, the gˋs are intense but worth it, also quite smooth.
Does anyone know the actual amount of positive gs the ride has? We have rides with 5-6 gs still operating in the us.
3:44, ayyyy Playland is one of my home parks (other is Dorney park) and where I got my first roallercoaster credit in Dragon coaster
I might be able to ride Loop It next year! Wish me luck!
This along with a Pinfari Zyklon ZL42 are high on my bucket list! Call me crazy but they look kinda fun. I don't mind getting beat up a bit by a coaster. For this reason, I love good wooden coaster!
Wild Wind is located here in Athens Greece , since 2016. I have ride this coaster 2 times which i regretted. It was a really rough ride , i felt like my neck was going to get broken.

I wonder how many laterals Tornado at Bakken pulls on its first drop. I wouldn't be surprised if it got near 3G
I‘ve been on this coaster many times in switzerland on fairs and i really like the ride
Lol “What if someone got hurt?”... Me basically every time I go on a ride.
7:01 I am actually wondering if there is any chance of that the same model that had been installed in now-defunct wonderland eurasia was this..
I had seen one of those when I actually visited the park, fully constructed, and located outside of the fences of the park in a overgrown area
4 Lateral G's is basically instant ultra extreme intensity in Roller Coaster Tycoon, and that game tends to be pretty forgiving most of the time.
skyrush at hershey pulls 5G's
Looked pretty fun on the helix
Wow I’m flattered that my home states intimidator 305 is comparable to top thrill dragster. I miss the blackout run though.
When I rode the Chance Toboggan, while not nearly as intense as this coaster, as much as I enjoyed it, the first time I rode I wasnt ready for the transition out of the helix and it made a pain in the neck for the rest of the day. Even though it was nothing serious, it is true that even small pains can turn a rider away, and decrease popularity of a ride, so it was smart of them to not keep the coaster. I could say the same about Zippin Pippin's ejector hill, which takes away a little from the front row ride. I've also grown a dislike to B&M pretzel loops
Could some more secure restraints help with the discomfort?
1:54 hey I was on this coaster! The park is only about 2 h from our home!!!
I agree! "Hot potato" Plus the fact that no one saw video, read specs on the ride, maybe saw a pix of it (thought is was cool) Got cold feet as lawyers gave them the "hairy eye" LOL!!!
Hey, love your channel and watch every video! Could you do a video (your personal opinion or vote) on the top roller coasters in urgent need of a modification or spruce up. He’s discussed it before on compilation videos.
There is a permanent Wild Wind at Freizeit-Land Geiselwind in Germany
"despite interpark properly designing the ride... ". Well I don't know mate, i really don't think I'd call 4G jerky laterals in an extremely tight inversion "proper design" ;D.
Think about if RMC make a inverted coaster?🤔
Good observation!
I think budget coasters do have a place in very small parks and the fun fair circuit. Alton towers in the UK started with Pinfari rides,
I live in Virginia Beach! And I live literally 5 minutes away from the Motor world park they moved it to! And I never knew about it LOL 😂😱
We have here one in Philippines but I rode it when i was 14 and I'm pretty small, it feels kind of okay when I rode it back then but I guess if you're tall, that inversion would drag your neck to the left very hard.
When will your next livestream be? Could you do Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 again
