Here's a video idea: What extinct roller coaster models would you like to see make a return, and what sort of changes could we see to bring these models into the modern day?
Hot take: I think Intamin should bring back the space diver. They could definitely make it work with their current technology
I’d love to see someone revive the Suspended Coaster one day. Those swinging cars provided a very unique ride experience.
@juiceboxer100 they could make the drops less steap, add a heart line roll and use lap bar only trains
Stupid question. Here's an idea Garrett: ask better questions, you douche
Schwarzkopf. I'm obsessed. And of course, a fourth dimension coaster. I'm sure that by now it can be smoother and even more well designed
"Nothing's weird with RCCA" *shows SOB's loop*
Video Idea - Americas Most Sentimental Coasters. Some coasters might not be the tallest, fastest, or hold a record, but they are near and dear to the hearts of their fans. I was one of the people who reached out to save the Whizzer at Six Flags Great America. It is a great family ride and the first coaster that I rode when I was a kid. I think of others like The Beast, Coney Island Cyclone, etc. that hold special memories for many people. Anyhow, it’s just an idea. Keep up the great work!
Thanks! I have a list video coming out in February ranking all the ACE landmarks, that is chalk full of sentimental favorites.
@@AirtimeThrills I've been on one of the ACE Coaster Landmarks!! Even got a picture of the sign in the station too! It was Roller Coaster at Lagoon
I think Vekoma’s oddest model is definitely the stingray… such a bizarre model. Strange layout, super compact, however I don’t know how it tracked. But great video, keep up the great work!
Or Illusion
Like, WTF those things supposedly do
@@bocahdongo7769 that’s a better point. It has bizarre trains and an even weirder layout.
@@bocahdongo7769 they have good capacity and surreal theming at least
We need more coasters like The Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain, it's what mine train coasters should be like now.
For Intamin, I'm surprised you didn't pick their Space Diver model. And another weird Arrow coaster for the time could be Drachen Fire @ BGW, different supports, new/different elements new style train.
Intamin had a bunch of contenders
@Airtime Thrills Also for Schwarzkopf, I would pick the Catapult coaster, it's a bent figure 8 with a tire launch.
Bruh Flashback was my dream coaster as a kid, it looked so weird but I never got to ride it 😔 always think of it when I go to magic mountain
Someone needs to copy that Ferris Wheel launch.
Video Idea - Is “Son of Beast” impractical? Is it possible to build a wooden structure on this scale; and maintain safe operation? Did the coaster exceed the limits of a wooden model?
Thats what I'm kind of gathering but i know rcca and the lumber company got sued for the work and materials they used. I dont know enough about the engineering to give any kind of explanation though
@@AirtimeThrillsCould another manufacturer have pulled it off? Maintaining a wooden structure at the magnitude of a steel coaster? It seems too overwhelming.
@@ratedexploited go watch EL Toro Ryans video on it it has all the details and someone maybe able to do it but probably will never try without RMCs Wood coaster it became basically 0
@@Outpost5Explorations I was just going to say there is an excellent video detailing the structural design flaws, the flaws in construction, the lack of extra bracing in heavy load areas and the use of extra heavy trains necessary to give the momentum to get through the loop. That company was such a disaster. I don't know how they didn't end up killing somebody on either SOB or Rattler down at Fiesta Texas. There is a video dedicated to that coaster as well and some of it just makes my toes curl to watch.
@@ratedexploited I think another manufacturer could have definitely pulled it off, and Kings Island would have been able to maintain it just fine. KI has a great team to maintain their woodies. It's just that, just like RCCA did, they completely screwed over the parks that hired them. Unfortunately for KI, they didn't pay attention to what happened with the rattler. I think Din could have done it successfully, and had someone actually built it correctly, KI would either be in line, or already have the biggest, baddest RMC in the world. Also, as was already suggested, ElToro Ryan has a great video on SOB. If you're interested, go give it a watch. While you're at it, watch the one on the rattler. RCCA botched, I mean, built that one too.
Idk, for Gerstlauer I’d have to go with the Gekion Live coaster at Tokyo Joypolis. It’s like what would happen if you somehow combined DDR or Guitar Hero and an indoor spinning launch coaster with an inversion.
Screaming Squirrel didn't give me anything. Just a lot of hangtime
The TOGO Logo:
... just ... Bravo, sir!
I won’t lie I feel like the Space Diver model might be Intamin’s weirdest
Always a good day when Chris uploads
Lost Coaster at Indiana Beach is so weird it’s amazing
It was the first time I questioned what a roller coaster could do on a scale I never thought could be done
Dillon
Had such a blast on that ride though. The only time we laughed harder as a group at IB was when we "fit" 4 of us in one car on Tiger coaster. The women are small, both about 5'5", 110 but both of us guys are the exact opposite. I'm 6'2" 185, and my friend is 6'4" maybe 230. Shana and her bright ideas. We fit alright.
Indiana Beach is just a weird park, the two big wooden coasters are just about the only normal rides in the park!
1:04 for PTC you should’ve excluded gold nugget/black diamond. That weird dark ride that’s technically a coaster.
Shout out to Thorpe Park's Vekoma Enigma coaster X:/ No Way Out. It was an enclosed coaster similar to a Vekoma Junior model that saw riders travelling backwards through laser lighting and rave music. Most bizarelly however it had multiple mid-course brake runs with dismembered mannequins, some which would shunt the train forwards for a brief moment before sending it backwards once again through the rest of the course. In case you're wondering it had no explanation or backstory exaplining any of the weirdness. It also had various funhouse elements in the extended queue like a vortex tunnel that were never used in the ride's later years as the queue never really was long enough to justify using this extension. You can still find the coaster there today now running forwards and rethemed as The Walking Dead - The Ride although it's a lot less surreal than its first incarnation.
There's a common misconception that it was about a giant computer that was infected with a virus and riders were sent in to act as an antivirus of sorts, the virus messing with their vehicle and sending them backwards (because 90s) with some even saying there was a pre-show that included this story that broke a few years in and was never fixed, however there's no evidence that this was ever the story and the "pre-show" people are thinking of was most likely the broken lift ( or elevator) effect in the queue that simulated being taken underground. The effect broke after a few years and the doors on each side were left open at all times for guests to pass straight through. This combined with the vague robotic announcements saying things like "This system is failing, there is no escape. There is no way out" and the coaster's name looking like a URL most likely led to this misconception.
VIDEO IDEAS:The coasters of Alton towers by the numbers.
AND
The best backwards moments on any coaster.
For jimma, I actually think their new lsm launch coaster is their weirdest. It looks like a B&M with mack otsr lapbars and has weird pacing.
Oh man... I just went down an upsetting rabbit hole after learning about Jinma. All that hard work by companies like B&M, Vekoma, etc. just to have this company knock them off...
A boost button on an Intamin coaster is a terrifying thought.
I was expecting to find Gojimba by Ride Engineers Switzerland in the list. It is currently under construction in Serengeti Park in northern Germany. It is basically combining a roller coaster with a Sky Fly, and I'm really curious how this will feel (even though it will be kids friendly, so I do not expect too much of a thrill).
Are you going to do anything for March madness? Either park battle or coasters.
Video idea, weird water rides. You forgot about the western US coaster with the clear roof that closes on each car.
I was wondering when you were going to get to this part. Great minds think allot. I am headed to Venice Fla on Feb 11 to stay with my parents for about 4-6 weeks, cant wait to ride Gwazi again. Will try to get over to all the stuff in Orlando, but I hate driving over on that side of the state, a bunch of nuts and construction on I4. Lol
For sbf visa i would’ve chosen the cool and fresh model. A portable coaster that’s basically an unholy blend of a euro fighter and chance toboggan with some screaming squirrel thrown in. In other words: hell.
Flashback should be intamin weirdest
can you do a drop track coaster breakdown? maybe not enough installations for a full vid though. maybe combine it with high-speed switch track? then the vid might be too long lol
Maybe CCI, underground at Adventureland.
Whether you are the parent of one or multiple children. There's always that one really weird one you love all the more. Nothing wrong with weird (in a good way) I'm still cRaZy about Texas Tornado. There are some I'd love to ride on this list. AstroWorld had a Chance Bobsled very briefly. It was called Swamp Buggy. Perfect name as it was on Fun Island w/barrel bridge + tilt house AKA Wacky Shack. Hey! It was the 70's!
Why is the signature element on the Screaming Squirrel model called a saxophone when it is obviously shaped like a trombone?!
My first thought was X2
I still think it's the weirdest coaster there is.
I have to ride it some day...
Mack rides but 2 of their inverted Power coasters the other one is in motion Gate Dubai called dragon gliders
and a 3rd one in 2021: Jurassic Flyers at Universal Studios Bejing
Oh ok didn't know about that one
I would consider Lightning Rod a weird coaster
I disagree for mack I think their e motion model with the only one at linnanmaki
I think cobras curse should of been on the liat
Taylor , Chris , Ryan , TPR for coaster mt Rushmore
I think that I Ta in furious barco because I Ta in is goin to build 2 spinning coaster
Six flags america could get a family invert and it would be the best B&M in Maryland
Really interesting video, but I've got a tip for your narrating. Right now, it flows like this: "Up-and-up-and-down, up-and-up-and-down, up-and-up-and-down, up-and-down, up-and-up-and-down." I think it sounds very unnatural. You could try to vary a bit more in your intonation allong your sentences. The video itself is top though!
What about Reverchon? Haha odd ball manufacturer.
8:10 6'3" is no where close to average height.
Smiler: 👁👄👁
Intamin
What if you made a weird coaster ?
Yo let’s go another early vid
“RMC hasn’t made anything weird” what about Lighting Rod. I’d call the worlds only launched wooden coaster relatively weird.
It’s your opinion, but honestly i thought it was a good idea AND a good coaster. Kind of bummed out that it has a chainlift now. God, how i miss it.
Why is that every manufacturer gets weird in their last year? Always right before they go bankrupt
Last ditch effort to save the ship
@@AirtimeThrills exactly. I was just going to say desperation!
You'll be surprised in this post there's some people that think those thing would save company too
@@bocahdongo7769what are you saying
I seriously wonder what the designers at arrow were smoking when designing X2
The whole 4 rail thing is so out there. And the on top of track/under track going forward and backwards is so trippy
To be honest, the Intamin zac spin is one of the weirdest models I have ever seen. And it’s absolutely rough as well
So is the Space Diver model, that's probably why only one was built and defunct.
Fuck The Zac spin, May it die a fiery death
not if you ride a good one, if the only zac spin you’ve been on is green lantern then of course it sucks, if you ride insane @ gröna lund or inferno @ terra mitica you’ll know that they can be really fun and smooth
I’d argue that Mr. Freeze is a close second for Premier’s weirdest coaster. How often do you see a backwards launching shuttle coaster with a dual-loading station, an inverted top hat and a booster launch on a vertical spike? Not often.
Thrice
If I had a nickel for the number of times Premier built a backwards launching shuttle coaster with a dual-loading station, an inverted top hat, and a booster launch on a vertical spike, called Mr. Freeze, I'd have 2 nickels, which isn't much but it's weird it happened twice.

Mom, can we ride a Schwarzkopf rollercoaster, 6:27 "We have a Schwarzkopf at home"😎😆
Video 3 You should do a video we’re you do every stand up coaster past or present by the Numbers, and in that video rank every stand up you have ridden.
Giovanola Anaconda is a bit weird in someways because its 2 wide seats make it look like an SLC but it rode more like a B&M invert (or at least it did when I rode it). Had a roar good elements, some tunnels, a helix around rock work. The hypers arnt good but its a shame that they went bust as you could have been really solid for parks that didnt want to pay for B&Ms as it was a lot nicer then the SLC's we have today.
Personally I think Lightning Rod would’ve been a good contendor for weirdest RMC. I think a launched wooden coaster is a very unique and weird idea even if not as weird as a lot of the other stuff in this video, and even though it isn’t really a wooden coaster anymore
For Intamin, I think their weirdest is Dueling Dragons. I know of no other coaster that goes through two sides of a loop at the same time, one train inverted, the other sit down. That’s bizarre and super interesting looking.
For Arrow there are a lot of choices. Pre X I might have said the Disneyland Matterhorn though since it was the first tubular steel coaster and the only one of it’s kind. But yeah X2 is a wild and weird concept for sure. And an awesome one. I wish there were many more of those built as it’s too good for there to be so few.
I MISS DUELING DRAGONSSS😭😭😭
Weigand Should be the flying "Hexenbesen" at Erlebniswelt Seilbahnen Thale and for SBF Visa I'm surprised that you didn't even mention "Cool and Fresh".
You forgot that PTC also made Black Diamond at Knoebles. It is PTC’s only steel coaster, and is a dark ride/coaster hybrid.
Who knew Togo invented the poop emoji when they designed their logo 💩
To try and help prevent any future butcherings: "ei" in German is pronounced like *eye* and "ie" is pronounced *ee*
Hope you have a fab day :D
for pax it would have been defenetely their cobra 1 model aka the first single rail coaster and for schwartzkopf it would be the katapult model
I appreciate that you're not just covering the manufacturers from the US and Europe :)
Arguably the Intamin free-fall drop towers (like Hollywood Tower in Movieland, Italy) are also kind of coasters, and they're definitely very weird!
You showed off son of beast and didn’t mention it
I rode the original King Cobra at Kings Dominion, I was about 12ish in age, an it frightened me because of going backwards, but I loved it, same with riding Loch Ness Monster opening week, man, I miss those days, but not the walks up Busch Gardens hills. Lol.
I think that z-force is a lot weirder then tornado
The E-Motion coaster by MackRides should've been picked instead of Arthur.
And Revolution at Bobbejaanland should've been chosen for Vekoma in my opinion.
I think you could argue that the mobius layout of Twisted Colossus makes it RMC's weirdest coaster. The rest of the elements are pretty typical for the company but the layout itself and possibility of dueling is not. And mobius loop layouts are pretty uncommon in general (unless of course you cross the exact same park.)
I actually loved maximum rpm very unique
for gci it also could have been eltoro at freizeitpark plohn because the track doesnt go over or under itself (the only one which does that)
You should do obscure manufacturers next. That’d be cool
You mean like Soquet?
@@markvolpe2305 OH YES. SOQUET.
@@Thrills_And_Chills_WQAQ Caripro as well, I'd say. Got a suggestion from them (Ziggy's Blast Quest at The Milky Way Adventure Park in the UK) that I think fits the bill!
It just occurred to me RCT2 made a replica of Bullet but with a reverse chain lift instead of a reverse tire launch. I think it was called Stingray?
You should do a video on the weirdest flat rides.
"Bullet" reminds me of the old "Katapult" coasters (if 'coaster' is the right word to describe those).
Doesn’t Maurer have a roller coaster on a boat? How is that not the selection here hahah. Incredible video, nonetheless 🔥
The weirdest coaster I have been on was Ultra Twister at Six Flags Astroworld (RIP)
B&M's weirdest coaster is for sure Hydra The Revenge because the way B&M designed it was that they used a much higher pivotal offset number probably 6 or 8 and thats why its sorta weird.
if you dont know what pivotal offset is it is the same thing as heartlining.
Wait, I thought all ground-up Floorless has same heartline?
Zierer also have the 3 Schwarzkopfs they built after Schwarzkopf went bankrupt (BMRX, Jetline and Lisebergbanen) with their weird spines and 2 of them having a curved chain lift.
Tornado looks WILD. Just watching Coaster Studios ride it was enough to see how nuts it looks.
Love the toboggans.
I'm not only going to like this video. I'm also going to comment on it.
I, too, will like and comment on this comment
There are two other other Mack Arthur-types, one in UAE and one in China.
I take it back, this is airtime thrills best series!
Lost Coaster could really use a Donkey Kong theming, like the old Donkey Kong Country games! I’m surprised Nintendo doesn’t have something similar at their theme park!
There’s a Donkey Kong coaster under construction right now for the Super Nintendo Land at Universal’s upcoming Epic Universe park.
Hey, Chris. Um... you heard me say this and I'll say it again: I don't like your top 50, but I'll admit, it's getting a little better IMO as time goes on.
So I'm getting more mainstream? Thats not good...
@@AirtimeThrills No, IMO is "in my opinion".🤣🤣
The only Hopkins coaster I've ridden is Story Land's Polar Coaster, which is not super-weird but is definitely a little unusual, sort of a walrus-themed junior mine train making some nice use of terrain.
Lesssssssssss g0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0!!!
🎢
For Intamin, I would point to the now defunct Tower of Terror 2 at Australia's Dream World. Think Superman Escape from Krypton at Magic Mountain, but run up the side of an existing drop tower. Still shows up on Google Earth, and it's quite the sight.
Now hear me out:
Every manufacturers most normal coaster
Most generic model? It's not all that hard to come up with that least for some of the big ones IMO.
1. Arrow: has to be corkscrew models
2. B&M: I'd say Batman clones just based on the sheer number of them.
3. Vekoma: I'd vote for their SLC model (notable mention goes to their Boomerang Model)
4. PTC: All of them?
5. Schwarzkopf: has to be their shuttle loop models
6. Intamin: OK Intamin is tough because they don't do a lot of clones and while they have plenty of launch coasters they are all pretty unique. Millennium Force maybe? Aside from size and speed it's not got a lot going on....
7. Gerstlauer: has to be their Eurofighter
8. Morgan: just their hyper coasters in general all seem to follow the same pattern
9. Dinn: has to be the Cyclone clones they made for SFMM and SFOG. Nothing remotely original about those and the one at SFOG wasn't a very pleasant ride either.
10. RCA: New Texas Giant since it's definitely the most conservative design of the bunch.
11. Mack: has got to be their Wilde Mouse clones
I mean I could pick a few more to add to the list but you get the idea. Basically either really conservative designs or oh I rode that at this other park I went to.
Neat. All look so interesting.
I do happen to also love baseball #itfdb
Congrats on 75K subscribers! And your Eagles are in the Super Bowl as well!
3:32 Bill Cipher got to them!
Caripro (a Dutch manufacturer known for their single-rail suspended coasters) definitely deserves a mention for *Ziggy's Blast Quest* at The Milky Way Adventure Park (Bideford, Devon, UK). Powered Single-Rail Coaster, indoors, spiral lifts, and with laser guns (shaped like orbs with a button up-top) and interactive targets. A very odd one, but definitely quite fun!
Weird coasters from manufacturers you disqualified:
Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters: Black Diamond @Knoebels
Skyline Attractions: Brava! @MASS MoCA
Rocky Mountain Construction: Lighting Rod @Dollywood
Setpoint: Pteranodon Flyers @Universal's Islands of Adventure
I would've put Shockwave as Intimin's weirdest, seeing how I think it's their only standup and it's a B&M before B&M's where a thing.
Black Diamond at Knoebels is weird because it's the only steel coaster PTC ever built
Had no idea, my favorite type of roller coasters, the skyloop, was on the list. When I went to Skylinepark in Bavaria (Germany) I had to ride their skyloop coaster, the Sky Wheel, at least 5 or 6 times, if possible in a row (best if you go in the morning and you can just stay seated because you are the only one on the coaster). It's just so much fun for such a short ride. And the swinging back and forth in the end before the brake is used is the best part.
My grandpa fought in World War II
He was such a noble dude
I can't even finish school
Missed my mom, and left too soon
His dad was a fireman
Who fought fires so violent
I think I bored my therapist
While playing him my violin
that's so insane
(Oh, my God) that's such a shame
Next to them, my shit don't feel so grand
But I can't help myself from feeling bad
I kinda feel like two things can be sad (one, two, three, four)
The world's smallest violin
Really needs an audience
So if I do not find somebody soon (that's right, that's right)
I'll blow up into smithereens
And spew my tiny symphony
Just let me play my violin for you, you, you, you
My grandpa fought in World War II
And he was such a noble dude
Man, I feel like such a fool
I got so much left to prove
All my friends have vaping friends
They're so good at making friеnds
I'm so scared of caving in
Is that entertaining yеt?
that's so insane
(Oh, my God) that's such a shame
Next to them, my shit don't feel so grand
But I can't help myself from feeling bad
I kinda feel like two things can be sad (one, two, three, four)
The world's smallest violin
Really needs an audience
So if I do not find somebody soon (that's right, that's right)
I'll blow up into smithereens
And spew my tiny symphony
Just let me play my violin for you, you, you, you
Somewhere in the universe
Somewhere someone's got it worse
Wish that made it easier
Wish I didn't feel the hurt
The world's smallest violin
Really needs an audience
So if I do not find somebody soon
I'll blow up into smithereens
And spew my tiny symphony
All up and down a city street
While tryna put my mind at ease
Like finishing this melody
This feels like a necessity
So this could be the death of me
Or maybe just a better me
Now, come in with the timpanis
And take a shot of Hennessy
I know I'm not there mentally
But you could be the remedy
So let me play my violin for you
Remember when this song was, like, the most popular thing on earth?
I do live in GErmany and know the GErman Coasters pretty good. And yes, the Pirate Coaster in Geiselwind is extra strange and unique. I loved that one.
Arthur isn’t the only Mack Inverted Coaster. They opened another ok at Universal Beijing 2021, but it is boring (and ugly) as fuck 😅 I’ve been there some days after the opening and people were so disappointed after the ride. I’m wondering if they will update the theming in the near future ..
