  • I depart from Stewart, British Columbia, and resume the long journey north to Skagway, Alaska, via the Cassiar and Alaska Highways. On the way, I experience jaw-dropping landscapes, explore Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, pick up some hitchhikers, and try some wonderful new foods!

Another great video Chris, loved the close up shots of the dirty Jeep. Really tells a story of how far you've travelled.
I'm doing similar travel at the moment. 3 weeks around Tasmania in Australia, sleeping in the back of my 4wd SUV. It's a great way to see the world.

I recently stubbled across your channel and begin to look at your videos for Alaska. I completed a 14500 mile motorcycle trip from SC to AK June July 2018. Really enjoying you perspective from a jeep. Funny thing is I ate at the same restaurant in Skagway and had the same meal. I'll be riding back up again in 2020. Enjoy your work. Safe travels

Way late to this but had to drop a comment on your interaction with the First Nations folks who gave you "permission" to use the land. The native populations, Dene, Cree, Inuit, etc in northern BC, Yukon, Northwest Territories have never signed historical treaties. So yes, you are on un-ceded land despite our roads, our signs, our towns, mines, and even settlement. It really is their land still and despite our inroads up there debilitating game migration patterns, work camps in the oil and gas industry impacting on the female population, etc they still allow us to visit, live and work on their land. Best for them to remind us all, at every juncture, of that. Too many forget that stuff. Your reaction and thoughts were (are) first rate. So glad I found (and subbed) your channel. That whole area is sort of my back yard...if you even plan to return announce it in a future vid and I'll pm you with all the hidey holes and must see stuff I've accumulated.

The bridge at around 15:00 is most likely a bridge previously used for the Alaska Highway, and then the road was “straightened” out to be more efficient. I was amazed at how you could “see” where the road used to be, by the cuts through the trees, when we traveled to Homer on MC in both ‘16 and ‘17.

It makes me sad to look at your video of Whitehorse when I was young back about 1950 we spent time in WhitehorseIt. At that time there were no paved streets in Whitehorse it was a small town with an airport the railroad was still running out to Skagway and there steamboats tied up along the river at that time to supply down river there were no Road to Dawson and the other small towns along the river and a very large Hudson Bay trading post where you could buy everything from dog sleds, tents and all your needs.
