Ballet of Tugs...quite remarkable...love watching this stuff thanks Andy 😎
Wow, it's just that close to being over. Awesome drone footage.
They are certainly stirring up the mud. Thank you Andy for the excellent Golden Ray coverage.
How deep is the channel ???
30-40 feet dep. MM
I Hear A HUGE Party 🎉 Very Very Soon 🤘🏼🤠🎉🤘🏼🤠🎉🤘🏼🤠🎉🤘🏼🤠🎉🤘🏼🤠🎉🤘🏼🤠🎉
Hopefully they put a Dry dock on either end of the GR an loaded one behind the other
It's amazing they can muster all those dry docks, lots of coms needed to dock and stirred the bottom up a bit. Thanks for posting. Stay safe.
Completely captivated by the tugs & communications, unexpectedly, after my initial thought to speed through. I did not even move. Thanks for taking me there, Captain Andy!
Thank you so much, Captain!!!
So close for the final cut to be done. Excellent drone footage. I love it when you let the video run! Thank you Captain Andy!⚓
It is something how whoever is giving directions to four tugboats is so adept at doing this.
Smoothly done. MM
Nailed it with the drone footage!
Wow great report Captain Andy. Fantastic skill and great progress. Stay safe everyone.
Thank you for an awesome video of the tugs 💥💥 Those tugs do an awesome job however the man giving directions sounded a little stress ☺️ Stay safe and dry…God Bless and Gods Speed 🙏🌹 See ya 🤗🤗🤗
Hope you are doing well and getting your strength back.
I am!
Fabulous job. Go rest up. You earned it. Glad you were able to catch the finale....North GA friends say thanks
Thanks for the update. Getting real close. Great watching the tugs at work.
Excellent report. Great drone coverage and Audio.
Thanks. MM
This has been an outstanding series. Thanks so much for your fine work. Almost hate to see it coming to an end, but glad to see the progress. Thanks.
The dance of the tugboats……..awesome choreography……….
Thank you enjoyed watching the tugboats hopefully you are having an awesome weekend stay safe and healthy👍
Captain Andy,
Outstanding Videos‼️
Thank You for Your work and Editing‼️ The Drone View and You escorting the dry dock into port are Exceptional‼️
Love those tugs in action! Great reporting today for sure! So last cut is about to be finished. You are sounding good today Captain Andy. Take care and be safe. Let me thank you for having something real to look at almost every day. I've certainly enjoyed this. I'll continue to watch as long as you are there. Again, thanks!
Excellent episode, thanks Andy! These tugs have again demonstrated masterful ship handling and tow coordination in a limited maneuvering environment. The wingwall of that dock can be a huge challenge even in light winds. No mishaps, no spills…and everyone gets to tie-up safely in-port for the night.
Another interesting report.
Amazing how some vehicles are still strapped to the deck of the Golden Ray. They are probably body wise in excellent factory condition - but almost certainly not for long.
Excellent team work to bring the dry dock along side the pier.
This cut seems to have been done in record time. Must be all the practice they have had.
Loved the tug action! Thank you.
As always Capt. Andy, the whole story with sound and intelligent narration. Once the two sections are parted, the cleanup will require a legion of scuba divers and claws.
Great job Captain Andy!!
Thanks! MM
Another great report, Thanks Capt Andy
Any day now Capt. Hopefully soon
Congratulations on 8K!🌟
Very informative as always. The drone footage along with the tugs radio transmissions were absolutely spectacular.
Fantastic Andy I look forward to updates everyday from the UK, Thankyou
Thank you! MM
Love The Tugs Cap. ThaNKS. kwd.
Success
Being only a third class barnacle in the Monorcan Navy, I have no say in the next deployment BUT there is a potential saga unavailing itself in the Gulf of Mexico. A truthful report on that oil slick would be good🧐.
Keep up the good work Andy
This project has been a labor of love. MM
Loved the drone footage of the tugboats , awesome ! It was great seeing the chain up high on what’s left of the Golden Ray , can’t be too much longer now. Thanks for another great update Capt Andy and stay safe out there on the Sound.
Glad you enjoyed it. MM
Massively interesting. Thanks for the quality update. Great stuff.
Glad you enjoyed it. MM
Great work.Thanks Captain Andy.
Possibly tomorrow or Monday this cut will be completed
Well ,, Andy ,, Looks like they just might get those 2 sections into port b/4 the end of Sept. ??? Hope so anyway !! Great video with the drone !! Have a good week & "KEEP IT SAFE ""!!
A timeline video, once they get closer to done, would really be nice. A kind of a fast forward through the entire salvage operation. The major problem is that you have so much first-quality footage that it will be a hard choice of what to edit out. I think this entire project is going to stand as a case study of how to film a long running story for UA-cam.
Agree! The only other long running series I know of is the work of Juan Browne on his channel blancolirio when he documented the crisis at the Oroville Dam and its’ massive engineering repair.
Drone footage screened live to the tug controller could be handy , Andy. Low cost and could shave minutes off expensive tug boat time. Plus added safety with complex maneuvers. The controller just may need an occasional glance at an overhead shot . Go for it.
What would make a very interesting shot is if you could zoom in and watch the chain as it’s moving. You’d actually see the ripping and tearing. That would take quite the camera though.
Awesome thanks for the update
❤ the Tugs!
Would liked to have seen in person. This was the next best thing. Thank You
Thanks Capt.
Great coverage, thank you!
Love that tug action, great job
Loved watching and listening to the tugs work!
How will the last section be supported once the cut is complete? One strapped to the VB but the other left in the water until it can be moved. Curious how they plan to stabilize it until the VB is free. Thanks Capt Andy!
I have same question. They have 2 spreader beams supporting one section, but what about the other section?
Only found your channel yesterday. Truly captivating video and just the right about of narration! Where did you learn this skill?!
I'm also amazed at the battery life of the drone! Must be a big battery and a huge drone to carry it!!
Welcome aboard! MM
do they have to have a pilot sent out when bringing in dry docks like when ships come in
Don't have to have a Pilot. MM
Amazing tug work
Nice video captin
Thank you so much 😀. MM
All most done then a month of clean up?
I think the clean up is going to take a lot longer than a month
The lead tug produces a backwash that is propelled against the front of the towed drydock. The tow setup is almost self defeating. Is there a "deflector" which could be installed temporarily on the front edge of the drydock?
Keep in mind that during the majority of the trip, the drydock maybe 800’ or more behind the tug. They shorten the towline when they approach Port. MM
@@MinorcanMullet OK. Thanks for the reply, Captain. Just a civilian here. Your videos are great.
Who’s telling these tug pilots how to move the dry dock? It is very interesting how they work together.
Capt. Buddy Cantrelle. MM
Whom is the director of the tugs docking the barge? Is he on the barge? Or dock? It seems like it would be hard for him to judge the distance to the dock if he’s on a tug boat.
He's on the drydock. MM
Is there any close up video of the chair cutting/ripping through the hull and internal decks of the Golden Ray?
RL
The only video from unified command showing close up, or as close as we have seen, was posted here last week. It’s also available on the St. Simons response website. Address is in description below. MM
Why were the tugs so slow? I know they slow down when they get closer to getting the dry dock into position but it looked like they were barely moving the entire time. Is it because of the drag of the dry dock?
I'm sure that load had something to do with it. MM
Where is the person directing the tugs located ?
Typically the person calling out distances and direction to the tugs is on the barge, or in this case on the dry dock. Because there's multiple tugs made up multiple ways, the person giving direction has experience as a docking master. He is more than likely positioned somewhere on the dry dock on the side that will be tied up to the pier.
Is it that shallow there to where they’re stirring up the middle bottom?
30-40 feet deep. MM
Wear is the Shot caller pilot standing? Is he on the dry dock or on one of the tugs?
Drydock. MM
@@MinorcanMullet Thank you.
Fascinating watching the tugs.
Who is issuing the commands?
And where is he?
Capt. Buddy Cantrelle. U. S. East Coast Operations Director for Crosby Tugs.
He is on the drydock.
@@MinorcanMullet I thought he might be on the drydock best vantage point.
@@andyhill242 he would make a great conductor for an orchestra!!!
What is the water depth there where they're putting dry dock?
30-40 feet deep. MM
@@MinorcanMullet TY Andy for your reply & answer
Where is the voice of the man whose telling the tugs what to do watching and guiding stationed so he can judge all of that?
on the drydock. MM
