Hi David and thanks mate :-) Weirdly, they call this one the 'Single Coil Special'. They look and sound pretty similar to a P90 IMO but they do have slightly different backplates. Fabulous to play. Cheers :-)
Hi Rory :-) SG's seem to be popular these days. Did a famous SG player joss it recently? So light, so versatile and they have brutal power. Angus would agree I'm sure as would Jimmy P, Carlos and a cast of thousands! I do love simplicity. Cheers, Gary :-)
Hi JJ and thanks :-) Yes, I enjoyed this one immensely and it's great to have a 'lesser-known' SG. I think these were a limited run. All Gibsons are great quality in my experience and can be a good investment. Cheers, Gary :-)
Well what else can you add to that ? simplicity itself, It's a smashing little guitar. The SG model is the bedrock of many a music Legends repertoire. Great review again Gary, looking forward to the next one.
Hi there Bob and thanks buddy :-) What a cracking instrument. Nice and simple, just like me :-) Take a look at the G&L Commanche comment about what the controls do - wayyyyyy above my pay grade! Cheers mate :-)
Great demo and review as always, Gary - thanks! Not sure if the scratch plate came with that model though as it looks like the lower point of it juts out over the bevelled edge of the guitar, and I don't know if Gibson would have designed it that way.
Hi Kev and you're quite right mate :-) They never came with a batwing - half or full. I may have to look out for a genuine Gibson item as this, as you say, doesn't follow the contour as precisely as one might like. Can't take it off though, it'll leave holes! Cheers, Gary :-)
Hi Sam and thanks buddy :-) Yes, no mucking about. Brutal pickups nailed to a plank of wood. My very favourite combination. You don't need anything else IMO....and as for coil splitting/tapping, I don't see the point (not that one can split a P90). Cheers, Gary :-)
Hi Mr Balls :-) Epiphone were good to start with and they've (incredibly) upped their game further still in recent years. One of my favourite regrets was parting with the Epiphone Genesis - my oh my, what an awesome instrument. The great 'pub' question is "Do I buy a low end Gibson or a high end Epiphone for the same money"? Discuss :-)
@@FoxysGuitarShow Low end Gibson or a high end Epiphone..Oh boy??!! Can't speak for Gibson.. never owned one or wanted one. Ironically most of my favourite tunes came from That guitar. Later I acquired a high end Epiphone and it was nice ... very nice but not to my liking. The build quality .. the frets..binding, etc. It was all there but it didn't suit me. Ibanez is my weapon of choice. Luv ya Gary.. Keep Rockin'!
@@FoxysGuitarShow Back in my gigging days I was at a smallish festival and having a drink with another guitar player at the bar. A guy came up to him and said his dad had recently passed away and he wanted him to have his dads old guitar that his dad bought back in the 60s. He handed him the case and left without even stopping for a drink. When we looked at what was inside it was a Gibson 335. I thought, "You gave it to the wrong guy!!!"
Hi. I've watched several of your videos. By a mile I think that's the best sounding guitar you've had. I'm super impressed with that one.

Powerful sounding guitar , great no frills straight rock machine, another superb video.

You've got to stop doing this to me, I want one of these as well. OMG I hate being poor!!!!!!!
Hi Reeldin :-) If it helps, I'm currently drooling over a £3500 Gibson but I don't think I'll get away with selling the other kidney :-)
