We are taking a break from the "classics" today to work with some modern technology. My Wife's car has carplay and its something I have always wanted in my car as well. There are plenty of double din head units with carplay, with all budgets in mind. However, my car for example, only has single din. I was thinking of making a custom center console to fit a double din, but when my buddy sent me the link and I saw this. It was a no brainer that this is what I needed for my Towncar.

After some time using it, I have to say, for the money I do not think you can do better! Solid little radio with carplay and a single din application.

I drive a 2001 F-150 and having a nice aftermarket display makes the truck feel so much newer. This is a fantastic bang for your buck, quality of life improvement. Great video, I look forward to seeing what you share next :)

How's the unit holding up? I just hooked one up in my square body. Im having an issue getting one of my speakers to work that i know is good. Also have you hooked the backup camera? Other than that everything else is working great
Just double check wiring, make sure all the pins look good going into the unit.
I just took the Lincoln on a 6 hour one way roadtrip. Still love it. Best $55 radio money could buy in my opinion.
Only issue is the lack of volume knob/remote.
When finding the updated link I found one with a volume knob. I would install that one next time. But still liking it!

@itgarageben Can you explain in more detail why you had to rob the power from the lighter backlight? What does it have to do with the signal wire to your headlights switch? I'm looking to install this unit in a 1991 VW Vanagon Westfalia.
So I just used that because it was tied to the headlights and right there.
You can steal switched power from anywhere as long as it ties in with the headlights.
Basically giving power to that wire will dim the unit.
May get this for my 2000 Explorer got a new bezel and don't want to cut it to install a double din

I cant get any audio, did you use an external amp? Was there output settings?
I had no issues with audio.
That makes me think you have an amp in your car that needs power. Or just even bypassed to work

How do you change the light color on the power button.?
It’s a setting choice in “quick setup” when you first hit the setting “app”
Will the volume buttons on your phone turn it down?
I do not know for android auto, but for Apple CarPlay, no you have to use the radio itself

I don’t exactly remember, but I think there is the rca outputs for subs.

i wanted to add carplay and all that to my passat and i was looking for something like that when i stumbled upon a Pioneer DMH-A4450BT that i got for like 80 bucks, that saved me from the chinese stuff lol

Remember, this is a sub $70 unit. So set your expectations accordingly.
