Hey bro nice tutorial. Quick suggestion don’t put your computer on top of speakers, you could damage memory if not completely erase it. Unless new technology has changed that.
I plug my speakers into my booth outputs, that way if I'm on late at night I can turn my speakers down without messing with the streaming audio. Rock out without waking everyone up or pissing off neighbors.
Before i watched this video i had done most of that but i have to be honest bro, the humble way you speak makes people wanna follow you. Keep it up that way and may God bless you. I have just one question: my mic sound doesn't come to the videos. Any tips???
Hi DJ Pensador, if you have a controller/mixer combo (such as what I do; Denon MC7000), I had a similar problem in the early days? The mic sound still comes out of you speakers along with the music but not through a another device such as a recording PC or mobile phone, just the music. The workaround is that one needs to 'post' the mic signal which means press the mic live button on your controller/mixer so it shines, then press the shift button and simultaneously press the mic live button again and it will briefly blink ..and that's it! When you turn your controller/mixer off it will go back to default so it means any time you want to have the mic live on another device you just have to repeat the process. Regards. Jest.
Hey bro really sorry I've just seen this lovely comment, apologies! I'm just about to drop another video about this tomorrow.. Hope you get it sorted bro
Amen to that DJ Pensador. Being humble is what its about. I love people who share info and not criticize. Blessings to the both of you and all who are doing their DJ thing. Respect from DJ PanaSU in Northern California
Use your booth monitor for your audio output! That way you can have your speakers with independent volume control. I have the XDJ-RR which has no booth, and i didn't realize it would be so annoying.
I use the Booth output for the live stream and the master output for the speakers. That way, you have total control over the output sound. You can tweak the master output without affecting the booth output, the level will always stay the same. It's best to leave the output level on the booth at 10 O'clock, for a good clear loud sound.
This is the first video I watch from you and I really enjoy watching it. I like that you are yourself when mixing. You don´t care what others say about your dancing and that makes you very sympathetic! The first thing I´ll try out is to plug in the audio directly into my phone. Thank you very much for these great tips. Keep doing videos and livestreams. I subscribed 👍
I use the irig 2,you can actually check your audio before going live by plugging your headphones into the irig’s built in headphone jack there you can adjust the level of your audio & he’s right you don’t need bullshit obs to get great quality streaming, the audience doesn’t care, keep it simple & interact
For those that don’t have an additional device or can’t really tell what the audio sounds like. Use the voice memo app to test your sound level going into the phone. Press record, while turning the sound up Monitoring level on the phone/device. I hope that was helpful to anyone.
Yes that does work also thanks. The technic I shared is for those that need to know what a too low signal looks like in contrast to a too high signal. (Mainly for beginners in DJn or Streaming). Thanks @DJ Angel that would make a great tutorial.
Great stuff, so what is the primary platform that you stream through? Had tons of issues with facebook streams getting shut down unless I'm playing stuff that is more obscure (looking into the new licensed stream service from Mixcloud). Also love the desk.... where can I get it/buy the hardware fro those speaker stands lol. Just subscribed, loved the tutorial!
Thanks for all that info, Ben! I looked at your FB page and it sounds great! Totally diggin your disco style. You've got Glitterbox written all over ya, ha
Anyone is having CopyRight issues with Instagram lives? i've been djing live on my instagram using obs and Yellow Duck with around 130 people watching me but after 30-50 minutes they take my stream down and i need to wait for an hour to use YellowDuck again. anyone having the same issue?
Actually, as sound engineer i think that there’s one better solution: the audio interface. Now, even for mobile devices there are plenty of them, giving You studio-quality sound as they usually have better adc (or even if You have mixer with digital output, then You will be able to get as clean sound as possible) However plugging console directly into the streaming device should work just fine, for sure much better than getting sound from device built-in mic. Yo ✌️
Yep, could not agree with you more!! I am going to start streaming my #UpliftingTrance sets. I picked up the following - a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 (2nd Gen) Audio Interface with 2x 10ft TRS to XLR Cables, Apple Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter A1619, Sabrent 4-Port Usb 3.0 Hub With Individual Led Lit Power Switches, Rode SC4 Adaptor and will be using my iPhoneX
Im very much a noob regarding different sounds (also a language barrier). What do you mean by audio interface? Im trying to do a live DJ stream with my phone (Galaxy S8).
DNA hi Man :) audio interface is a device that (usually) convert analog audio signal (from microphones, guitars etc) to digital one (0-1 code in Your device) and vice-versa, so it allows You to plug in any thing that produce or catch sound to it and get outputs for Your speakers and/or headphones. Almost every interface works with computer, but now, when there are more and more mobile-creators and streamers, some companies decided to help those people by delivering studio-quality sound and professional connectors for mobile devices. Now there are plenty of interfaces that works with iphones and android devices. For Your purpose, check things like Saramonic SmartRig+ UC 2-Track, IK Multimedia iRig PRO I/O and similiar, look for devices with 24 bit depth and at least 44.1khz A/D converters (thats the small and medium studios standard, normally pcs and smartphones got 16bit converters)
KISSES TO YA FOR THIS VIDEO!!! 2021 WE PUMPED!!! Btw how do we record the live stream. look forward to ya reply. is there a way to live stream straight to youtube FB & Ig at the same time? which platform do you live stream on?
Hi Ben, any advice for live streaming without having your set muted/reported for copywriting, do you have to play remixed versions of the tracks and not the original ?
That is the main concern that no one seems to give advice on. You only get away with CW if your a big named Dj which such's and is totally unfair to the average person. Especially when your not looking for any type of financial gain. Makes you go Hmmm!
Ben this is so informative, I'm planning to do my first set soon , it is killer deep house but nervous so nervous to get it right as its taken 1000's of tunes in and out to get The Deepest Mix, audio I believe is most important tip , how does this work with a Samsung S20 Note , loved listening to this video give me the vibe to go unleash the kraken 😎
The best tutorial by far on how to stream while DJing. It’s easy to follow conveys the message clearly. I am hoping that you should come up with a tutorial on OBS as well that will be awesome. Great job. Cheers 👍
Amazing Vid Ben !! Well in such a great guy :) I tried using the SC4 cable on Periscope for Twitter and always sounds bad as (maybe my levels are wrong I don't know) the SC4 is hack way into the Iphone and turns the music feed from stereo to mono .... So I'm biting the bullet and going for the iRig Stream. Your streams sound perfect tho so I am confused as to how your are so good and mine arent? I'm using DDJ SZ2 on Serato and the same cables as you lol - Again boss video mate thank you
I have all the cables but my iphone 11 , no matter what records using the built in microphone. It doesn’t record through the cable. Is there a certain setting I need to change on my phone ? Doesn’t seem to work
Thanks for the support & tutorial.. my plan is to use the irig2 after 10:30pm 12am at night so don’t annoy my neighbours as live in set of flats, My level is usually fine before 10:30pm .. and I usually have my external speakers set up and it makes a huge difference on the mic..especially singing, & break dancing .can’t went mixing lol 😂 it’s about having fun 🤩 music is key & good lighting, I definitely need that cable for Irig 2 work, I usually have a shot gun mic to pic up the audio which pretty good 😌 at picking up sound and I use I tested the irig2 with mic and I know it works..thanks
I use 1/4" to AUX for my adapter (that's what my booth uses ). I can connect it to my booth output and then I have separate audio for the stream and what comes out of the master and it makes it drastically easier. If you have a booth output go that route and get whatever cable is needed for that. Of course make sure that cable is long enough to reach your phone so it's not staring up your nose. I also got a few different lenses - wide view, and fish eye. They can attach via a clip that goes over your camera. This will help everyone to see more of what you're doing. If you're using an iPhone the video automatically zooms in closer than the picture setting. Using either the wide view or fish eye lens your phone/camera placement isn't so limiting since the field of view is greater.
Very good info....but....the big issue is copyright problems..doing your streams on Facebook and you will get you music blocked or you stream taken down, but you already know that.
great video. thanks for posting. I have tried streaming using pioneer djm 450 mixer using djm rec to instagram ...... works but sound always cuts to iphone mic. might have to try this way. big shout out all the way from walkington !
Question. I've got a Samsung S20+ and bought an Rca to USB Type-C cable and it works BUT there is loads of noise until the music plays. Does the SC4 cable remove that noise?
I have just upgraded to the XDJ xz and really happy, quick question, as you say you are just using your laptop is it just in performance mode when you link it? Cheers buddy
This is the best method and cheapest way of connecting the mixer to cell phone. I tried it on Allen & Heath connecting to HTC M10 & Huwaii p30. Works great.
Very good video and info... I'm after some advice please if possible.. I've gone from having big set ups years ago and djing to having nothing and during lockdown I bought a ddj200 as I don't have mega bucks to spend on decent stuff anymore and I'm having to use my headphone socket on from my mac via a stereo (doing it old SKOOL) . I'm wanting to live stream via UA-cam and poss fb as I have started a channel on here with mixes on. I can't get the audio to play via rekordbox properly into obs because of the mono sound the ddj200 puts out.. I have downloaded black hole and followed tutorials but they are using the ddj 400 and cleary has stereo output detected in rekordbox.. Any pointers at all and sorry on the essay. Thanks. Chris from Bradford
Hey Ben, loved your video. Is exactly what I needed. My question, how do you manage or how do you have your iPad linked? In better words how do you interact with viewers with your iPad, while your iphone is the one live to your account. Thank you in advance.
Hello how are you first the video was great but I want to ask you the green USB cable connected to your mixer who makes that? Thank you for any information.
If you add the RCA cables to a record output on your mixer or controller you wont need to worry about checking levels and then your master out con be whatever you want it to be :) just my 2 cents worth :D
Using the iRig Stream for audio. Takes the guess work out of trying to get the best audio quality and volume for streams. I spend a fraction of the time going live because my audio is simple.
Hello Ben great Video! Question .....Do you need to necessarily need to buy the Rode SC4? I have a TRS to TRRS adapter which is not a Rode SC4 and for some reason its not working for me, I have everything connected exactly as you instructed, Am I doing something wrong?
Well done mate good job and great tutorial. I have literally watch dozens on these tutorials and have had the same issues but I loved the way you have kept it real and straight to the point and most of all just being yourself and owning your blunders and sharing the same problems myself and your viewers are facing. I myself have been trying to setup a non convention audio setup and planed to do a lot of Live Facebook streams from the start of ISOLATION but keep running into brick walls with the audio setup🤬 and bought heaps more audio gear(mixers, cables, audio interfaces) and then once I finally worked out how to sync two computers 🖥 1 for Ableton Live 💻 1 for Traktor Pro 3,iPad Pro, 3 midi controllers, Sampler, drum machine, sequencer, synth, microphone, 2 audio interfaces, Audio mixer then routing inter App audio on iOS devices thru AUM with AUv3 EQ plug-ins and FX with Ableton Link. Then after I got that shit sorted sweet 🥵. So thinking okay just go live on Facebook not a problem. BUT!!! iOS doesn’t support an audio input line in from standard cables such as the the simple AUX port that you used to use on EVERY OTHER PHONE EVER MADE coz Apple have lightning ports and you need to either plug a USB B cable from your mixer into a lightning to USB adapter for it to recognise the audio. BUT ...... I can run audio from the USB B from the Zoom U-44 mixer to my phone and that works, BUT because that mixer was plugged into my iMac 🖥 running Ableton Live with Akai APC 40MKii and a Roland JD-Xi I would loose my Audio feed and wired MIDI master clock running to MIDI Quadra thru to all other devices , if I do then I loose Ableton Live from the main computer because it needs the USB B cable to be able to route the MIDI clock to sync all the gear together so that stuffed me up when it came time to have an audio feed plugged into my iPhone X to simply go Facebook Live and it put me back at square one. I was nearly about to buy the iRig stream or Roland GO mixer but my main problem is only that little Rode SC 4 Adapter because I have all the other gear you mentioned in your Video. So if you managed to understand any of that debacle I had I just want to say a massive thank you 🙏. Saved me $$$ Kind Regards KOD3 R3DZ from Australia 🇦🇺 Bloody Rippa Mate 👍
Quality video Ben. My streams quality so far have been dog shit and I thought using my phone would be the wrong way to go. Gonna g9ve this a go this weekend. Cheers fella!!!!!
Hey Ben, thanks Ben. What about copyrights? Is lawful to play any songs on social media? I heard Facebook and IG have been taking down live streams lately.
Its a huge grey area that I am no expert in mate.. My honest advice is be creative, be clever and think logically don't play radio tracks or commercial tunes on livestreams try mashups, remixes & edits !
Facebook and IG is only gonna get worse - and there's no way for a private person to get around that. UA-cam is better, but not all the way, and they will take your account away if you "break the rules" enough (plus, you can't stream from mobile on YT unless you got more than 1000 subscribers). Twitch is the way to go at this point.
I have loved the classic house mixes. Nice work ... ps you do dance like goon hahahaha I introduced you to my wife last night and she was loving the dancing as well ... #dancelikeagoon hahah
I've been playing a lot of tech house on my streams and I think that killed my views, like you say its repetitive... I'm gonna try something new this week
Good video! I like yr DJ desk. Can you do a video on that? Just a note: you didn’t point out the RCA male to the male adapter for the iPhone? You would be good with an audio interface too, btw. (Foursite) Love yr dancing! Right, it’s for the “love” of it!? Good job! (Plug and Play here too, btw.)

SC4 is a nice hack but if sound is the most important thing... stereo would be better, slightly more technical using your laptop and OBS.
Direct audio is most important - mono or stereo is irrelevant for most listeners.

Works great.
amazing video. quick question, whar do u do next after connection,?
do u start live stram from your phone or you use your phone as webcam?
Thanks. Stereo Audio Attenuator 25dB Line to Mic with a SC4 cable = Heaven Quality Audio ;)
Can you fix the link of "Tripod for DJ livestreams" please ? it doesn't work
Can this method work, when you actually video/record your self while djing ,not going on live, and later upload it to your UA-cam page or Facebook?
Hey Ben, loved your video. Is exactly what I needed. My question, how do you manage or how do you have your iPad linked? In better words how do you interact with viewers with your iPad, while your iphone is the one live to your account. Thank you in advance.
Hi mate, great video and useful info and tips. What desk/console are you using? Thanks
Nice video, thanks. If the controller only have one master out which I’m currently using for the speaker what I should do?
I have the xdj-xz and ordered the stuff you have in the description. All I get is a static.
Great video. You covered it all. Thanks.
Hello how are you first the video was great but I want to ask you the green USB cable connected to your mixer who makes that? Thank you for any information.
its not what platform u stream on its weather or not that platform isnt going to mute your set IE copy right music..facebook youtube ...
3/8 plugs changed to lightning because now phones can stand water splashes something plug would permit water in
If you add the RCA cables to a record output on your mixer or controller you wont need to worry about checking levels and then your master out con be whatever you want it to be :) just my 2 cents worth :D
Using the iRig Stream for audio. Takes the guess work out of trying to get the best audio quality and volume for streams. I spend a fraction of the time going live because my audio is simple.
What is the difference between this option and using IRig Stream?
Hello Ben great Video! Question .....Do you need to necessarily need to buy the Rode SC4? I have a TRS to TRRS adapter which is not a Rode SC4 and for some reason its not working for me, I have everything connected exactly as you instructed, Am I doing something wrong?
I'm also having the same issue. So frustrating!
It has to be a RC4 cable, because on that cable, it has 3 rings at the tip.
Any tips on adding graphics to your live stream?
OBS mate
Thanks so much for sharing this the way you have. #Respect #Awesome #Appreciated
BUT ...... I can run audio from the USB B from the Zoom U-44 mixer to my phone and that works, BUT because that mixer was plugged into my iMac 🖥 running Ableton Live with Akai APC 40MKii and a Roland JD-Xi I would loose my Audio feed and wired MIDI master clock running to MIDI Quadra thru to all other devices
, if I do then I loose Ableton Live from the main computer because it needs the USB B cable to be able to route the MIDI clock to sync all the gear together so that stuffed me up when it came time to have an audio feed plugged into my iPhone X to simply go Facebook Live and it put me back at square one.
I was nearly about to buy the iRig stream or Roland GO mixer but my main problem is only that little Rode SC 4 Adapter because I have all the other gear you mentioned in your Video.
So if you managed to understand any of that debacle I had I just want to say a massive thank you 🙏. Saved me $$$
Kind Regards

Bloody Rippa Mate 👍
I did buy this for my samsung galaxy 9 but its not working. Am i missing something?
Please help me how do you stream live with DJM-750
I have loved the classic house mixes. Nice work ... ps you do dance like goon hahahaha I introduced you to my wife last night and she was loving the dancing as well ... #dancelikeagoon hahah
@Ben Rainey, elgato Streamdeck will make things easy as a slice of cheese

Ive ordered one of your usb sticks how long do they normally take to turn up throught the post ?
Great video, and thanks for the useful information!
It’s a Rode SC4 adapter
