I want to be Stevie Nicks when I grow up. Stevie was the first woman to be inducted TWICE into the Rock & Roll Hall of fame. Once as a member of Fleetwood Mac and again as a solo artist.

@@dubzer0649 I got to see Stevie Inducted the 2nd time in Brooklyn at Barclay Center. Harry Styles performed with her. 🤔 Janet Jackson got inducted too that year but we were all disappointed she didn't perform. 😊 Her speech was amazing too. Ok so, this is a song that I've been in love with since I was a little girl! I couldn't have been more than 5-6 yrs old when I first heard it!! It wasn't until probably 10 years ago, that I actually caught an interview of Stevie Nicks explaining the inspiration for her writing this song and what it is about. I've since seen and read several interviews with Stevie talking about writing this song.....
From what I've heard in these interviews, the inspiration for this song was first from a woman in a novel that Stevie read..... She was taken with the woman's story. The older woman in the story was from Wales and had 2 personalities/sides. The woman's name was Branwen and the other personality that would come and "take her over" was named Rhiannon. **** Stevie later read a trilogy of books on Welsh mythology. The Rhiannon in those books was a Welsh witch (a spiritual healer)..... Stevie said, it's basically about a "mystical" woman who finds it very, very hard to be tied down but is a very uplifting and kind soul. There's a legend of Rhiannon also, it's the song of the birds that take away pain and relieves suffering.... I like to think of them as free spirits (which is how I've always "read" Stevie)....
Anyway, Stevie combined all of that and created the Rhiannon in this song. I think many of us can relate to the "spirit" in this Rhiannon on some level.... I know I have at times!!
As far as this performance, it's incredible and I LOVE how they let all 5 members shine in the footage!!! GREAT reaction!! I'm glad you enjoyed it!! Rock on Dub!! :)

Hi, DubØ- saw them live twice 76-78, and saw that Midnight Special the night it aired. Colour me lucky. It is fun to watch someone who can appreciate good music, even if from a different genre- the talent, punch, songcraft... and the chops to pull it off. Good on you, man- me? Great song great reaction. Stevie has a one of a kind unique voice. One note you know it's her. The great ones have that. Yes she had a great solo career and still can belt it out to this day. Only woman inducted into the rock and roll hall of Fame twice, once with Fleetwood Mac and once for her solo career. Try her songs Landslide and Edge of Seventeen (live) The whole band is great though. Lindsay Buckingham (guitarist who did the solo piece here) as you saw is one of the best guitarist ever. He also had a pretty good voice and had some hits with FM (Go Your Own Way) he and Stevie lived together for many years. Christine McVie ( the keyboardist) was another incredible singer and writer and wrote and sang some of the bands biggest hits (Don't Stop, Everywhere, Over My Head, Songbird) Her husband John McVie played that bass guitar you were wondering about and Mick Fleetwood an epic drummer.

In 80ish saw her again solo...Bella Donna Tour!! 👍🏽
Memories abound, we had it GREAT!! 😳🥳
Fav song by FM, others will go with Landslide or Dreams, nope...this one!! 👍🏽
I don't know why but John McVie on bass guitar is probably the most prolific sound that comes thru for me on FM.
You really seemed to enjoy this one a lot!!

Check out Lindsey's "Go Your Own Way" (about Stevie) and see HIM sing and him go to town on that guitar again. You'd also really like her "Edge of Seventeen" - one of her songs when she went single.

Your enthusiasm is infectious. Great reaction. If all you've listened to from Fleetwood Mac is this and dreams, then you may not know that there are 3 vocalists and song writers in this band. Stevie of course, But also Christine McVie on the keys wrote and sang her own material as well as Lindsey Buckingham, the guitarist who was KILLING that solo. They all had hits with this band and are extremely talented individuals as well as a unit. They were unstoppable in the 70s. Hit after hit. Both Stevie and Lindsey went on to have successful solo careers as well. The wooden guitar is actually a bass.

I got to see them in concert a few years back. We had to choose between seeing them or another very famous artist. We chose Fleetwood Mac and I am so glad we did. Stevie was lead singer on most the songs they played but Lindsey and Christine were also lead on a few. The variety that gave their performance was wonderful. One of the best bands ever. And Stevie...Stevie is special. Lot of good Fleetwood Mac songs and some right good Stevie Nicks solo stuff as well (and a duet with Tom Petty and I think a couple others). Best version You have to listen to this album Rumours. You have no idea how good it is. One song leads into another flawlessly. Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham (that insanely great guitarist) were married and were estranged from each other because he physically abused her. She hooked up and fell in love with the drummer, Mick Fleetwood. Yeah. All this drama going on as they put together this album. And, the songs on the album are pretty much all about the dysfunctionality going on behind the scenes. Notice Stevie’s anger as she belts it out. She won’t refuses to look at Lindsey. He belts out some incredible guitar work. Anger. Both of them made their performances great.

I think the best song that shows the drama going on in the band is The Chain. From what I understand that is the only song that all five of the band members wrote.
