I appreciate Downshifology SO much. Thanks to Lisa, my kitchen experiences have improved so steadfastly. Took her recommendations and I am LOVING the magnetic measuring spoons, garlic press, silicone ice cube tray, along with the other products she has recommended through other videos, including the spider skimmer, Kithenaid vegetable sheet cutter, the pancake pen (SO fun), glass food containers and the stasher bags. I originally started watching these videos to learn how to use my Vitamix in better ways, but Lisa is now helping me really achieve the resolution of cooking more and eating healthier. I am now recommending Downshiftology everywhere I go, and I'm happy to recommend it to all of you! Thank you, Lisa!

A great option would be to actually forgo measuring spoons and instead of measuring by volume, measure by weight. You may need to adjust some recipes but using a scale not only helps you save space but helps you follow recipes closer. Also look into "reverse taring" to reduce the amount of tools you need to wash

While I have had difficulty with OXO’s soap dispensers, I probably have more of their products in my kitchen, pantry and car, than they do in their NYC showroom. I know because I’ve been there.
I love frothers because I can mix healthy powdered shakes, like with collagen, at work, without disturbing coworkers sitting right next to me.

For my kitchen gadget essentials, this is definitely my short (but long) list - micro plane zester, avocado tools (both basket and an all-in-one for slices, kitchen shears, herb shears, herb stripper, can’t oversell the usefulness of a good silicone scraper, box grater with storage, huller, ... think that’s it for the items i use practically every day for cooking.

One of our most favorite and useful kitchen gadgets is the OXO Salad spinner. We actually are the large one for salads and a small one for herbs. Let me tell you take it used weekly and save so much time. My first one broke after about 15 years and I went six months without it until I broke down and bought a new one. That was a rough time in the kitchen.

I've used Barkeeper's Friend for 20 years and it works wonderfully. The best tip is to make sure the pan is thoroughly cleaned before reusing. Even a small bit of oil or baked on dirt on the bottom or in the corners can harden and be impossible to remove.

Excellent video! Yes I use a milk frother to whisk matcha too; it saves having a utensil that can only really do one job and it does indeed make a great frothy coffee. One of my favourite kitchen gadgets has to be my multi tool vegetable slicer/dicer/jullienne/mandolin it makes dicing/processing a 2 minute job instead of a 10 minute job. I love kitchen gadgets; my Gelindo lemon squeezer is another favourite. I use it almost daily and it squeezes lemons in a second and is a real wrist saver as I find it can be painful on the hands/wrists to use a standard lemon squeezer when used often. ☺

Thanks Angela! I love my mandoline as well (except for when I took a chunk out of my thumb - ha!). I'll have to look into that lemon squeezer as well, because I have notoriously weak wrists. :) x

    Hi there ,
Thanks for the informative video. I use my OXO swivle blade vegetable n fruit peeler many times a day. I have moderate to bad arthritis in my hands so this sturdy product is heaven sent. I also use my Friskars kitchen shears many times every day. I'm tempted by the instant read kitchen thermator n by the garlic press.
I wish many happy cooking moments to all in 2019.

So glad I found your channel! What kind of pots do you have? Or which ones do you find you use more that’s more essential than having a whole set of pots?

I've had mine for probably 10 years it was one of the first ones. At some stage I thought it was dead but I cleaned the battery contacts with sand paper and here it was like new. The outside is a bit battered by now but it works perfect and I couldn't do without it! Use it all the time for bulletproof coffee and matcha tea.
