- The Tunguska air defense system is a Russian weapon that was made to safeguard against various aerial threats, including helicopters, aircraft, drones, and cruise missiles. It has a mix of surface-to-air missiles and guns, and is intended to be mobile and adaptable, allowing it to be set up quickly in various environments. The system was created in the late 1970s and early 1980s by the Tula Design Bureau of Instrument Engineering and is named after the Tunguska River in Siberia, where a meteorite impact happened in 1908. The Tunguska was developed as a replacement for the 2K12 Kub, which was a successful air defense system from the 1950s and 1960s.

Say what you want about old weapons, but from it's origins to evolution, still to this day, I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end... ZU-23-2/4 truck/trailer mount or emplacement, ZSU-23-4 aka Shilka, ZSU-57-2, Tunguska, Pantsir-S1, Kashtan CIWS.
I wouldnt want to be on the wrong end of a spear or an axe either.

@@humanoid4338 Most popular ? No, only used by those that can't afford the good stuff. RPG is a poor man's anti armour weapon, we would use Tow , Javelin, Dragon etc. The AK 47 is super reliable but highly inaccurate, and Russian tanks are no match for western tanks . In the gulf wars they never knocked out a single western tank. Russia still believes in quantity over quality , which might yet prove to be the best policy. Their biggest advantage is that their troops are tougher than our woke snowflakes , who are more concerned with diversity , wokeness and gender issues than fighting skills. The Russians will eat our lot alive on a man for man basis. Ukraine can't win this war .

No it was not a replacement for the sa6 the replacement for the kub is the 9k37 buk complex, while this complex 2k22 sa19 is replacement for the 9k35 sa13 coupled with the shilka4 23 mm, it is a natural growth in the Soviet shrorads systems capabilities, intended for countering attack helicopters and low flying aerial target's traveling inside an engagements envelope ✉️ at a distance or range UpTo 10.000m and at maximum altitude of 3.500m and flying in speed UpTo 900m/s, with 10km maximum missile ranges it can counter successfully the attack helicopters e.g cobra armed with the bgm71 and the 20mm gun gatling gun, the sa341gazelle, bo105 , ah64 armed with agm114 hellfire and the chin gun m230 if it was traveling UpTo 3500m in altitude, or executing pop-ups attacking manoeuvres behind obstacle's either naturals like tree's 🌴...etc or man made like buildings 🏢...etc

However, the maximum effective range is not considered a ground breaking in comparison with older similar systems of the same caliber and even smaller calibers.
but this range 2500m coupled with the effect of rapid firing, effective high explosive fragmentation munitions HEF and armor piercing incendiary API munitions, coupled with scattering or dispensaring the ammunition in irregular way, instead of trying to focus the ammunition on one point within a target square that will ensure covering wider space of the aerial target's trajectory and hitting multiple places of the target's ,operated through a radar or electro-optical targeting system suitable for dealing with a wide range of aerial and ground target's like cruise missiles, suicide drones, beside the traditional target's with in firing envelope between the 200m and maximum 4000 m in altitude and distance...

that's just the rate at which it fires, practical rounds per minute is much lower its the same with all firearms from the M4 to the avenger cannon heat is a real issue to guns

Video isn't up to date. Tunguska is updated with the same missiles as latest Pantsir updates. Radars 75-80km range, missiles 40km range, instead 12 missiles now is 24 + new Hypersonic missiles 100km range added.👍👏😲😖😝

What are you talking about you fool? My father was a commander on Gepard. The Gepard Flakpanzer is a terribly outdated and extremely fragile machine. Despite many calibrations, it is often inaccurate.
