John Ramos reports on the new, free shuttle ferry between Oakland's Jack London Square and Alameda Landing that begins service next Wednesday. (7/10/2024)
They can also catch the bus. The 51 and the 20 both go from the Jack London area to Alameda landing through the Posey Tube …. But I’m just a bus operator so what do I know 😂😂😂 But by it being free and taking more than 2-3 bike at a time I guess it makes sense
As long as there is a Coast Guard Island there will be no span across the Estuary. The US government made the cut for Coast Guard island. That is why the tubes are there.
Jack London Square sucks! Miss them old day's when it had the Spaghetti Factory, TGIF, El Toritos, and Kincaids to have dinner with the family and the Sunday buffets at El Toritos
Not really. You also have a Regal movie theater, a bowling alley and a Yoshi's restaurant that does live jazz shows. That district is a very popular destination in Oakland.
How much you want to bet that no more than 15 people a day will use it? Considering the security issues in the East Bay, it would be good to put money into something else.
I lived in Alameda for many years and made a lot of trips thru the tube on a bike. Definitely a test of endurance and grit, makes you appreciate fresh air and quiet. What a great idea. What's up with all the haters and their helpful comments?
LMFAO ! Nothing is free. Ya, start out free till the grant money is gone or the little boat gets so crowded and you have to wait, then they will start charging at some point once they have the crowd reliant on the little ferry. Bay area ferry is 14-15 Dollers and is now raising its fee. The Bay Area bridges were once 25 cents to cross Now there 7 dollers to cross, who are you trying to fool. ?
We need free transportation from Oakland to Gavin Newsomes front door.
It is a ferry transport
Maybe Sheng Thao can figure out a pay to play scheme so she will be incentivized to make it happen
@@donaldotrumpriguez2024 She rooks guilty
Yoplaits! In other words, okurrrrr 😅
Yikes, good luck Alameda.
This is a big mistake that Alameda will regret.
why?
Everyone living in Alameda is super stoked for this.
Until the rise of crime moving from Oakland for free.
You must live Oakland! We don’t want your kind here.
Because criminals don't have enough mobility?
well send all the people who cant afford a ride your way .
@@minhlu3518 they dont know how to use boats, they're street bots

The staten island ferry that goes from battery park in nyc to Staten Island is also free. It’s a great way to get from either Burroughs
Buckle your seatbelts Alameda😵💫
Looking forward to this and the future bike/pedestrian bridge!
Trips at half hour intervals? That’s plenty of time to get mugged while you wait.
Absolutely dumb idea now all the homeless drug addicts going to Alameda
They have been doing that already via the bus. And they have given housing to some of them in Alameda since Covid:
If you think this is the only way to get over to Alameda from Oakland, you're the dumb idea. Research and think before posting, dunce.
The Ferry is going to get JACKED in Oakland... 😂😂😂
and people pushed over board
Could be a less stressful alternative to boosting cars.
San Franciscoi ferries?

Well well well, it's about time. This is the 1st I've heard about this.
Free? It's gonna smell like sht in two weeks
There is a ferry already
Too many in the Bay area

There is no such thing of free anything. This will get too expensive eventually.
and all I want is for them to pave ECR. been waiting for 6.5 years since I moved to Mtn. View. oh well
WOODSTOCK ❤❤❤❤ Inspired! I want to ride!
Great
for criminals
"JUSTICE " , give me a break.
Yes! I always wanted to do there but walk is far and hill is daunting now I'm ferry I can become the writer of my own density.
Density?
@@silentmajority8365 learn culture and come back here when you get it. Ask around maybe someone knows but I will not divulge the meaning to you.
The opposite of gentrification coming to Alameda. lol

Better off hiring black rock as a PMC. Or hiring Iraq veterans as security.
Emigine reminds me of the sloth from zootopia
Another example of how building more housing leads to more transit options being possible.
Jack London is empty because nobody wants to go there and get shot. Duh.

I assume the ferry is beneficial for Oakland residents, not Alameda.
Lots of ferries there
I live in Alameda and am very happy to be able to get to the restaurants and events that happen in Jack London square
@@CandaceBain Enjoy the homeless

Lots of shameful comments here. Truly disappointing.
.... im not seeing the benefit for any one at all.
Dumb this is going to fail again
Alright the homeless have somewhere else to sleep 😂😂
Get ready alameda , you’re about to get a lot of crime introduced into your neighborhoods !
really?
@@californianorma876 Yes really
Crime and ferries go hand in hand don't they?
How is this being funded ? No such thing as free

Federal tax dollars. Literally stealing our money.

Instead of building boats feels like they need to start building walls and guard towers.
