the main riff is from I want a New Drug.... Genius and take a Riff from a already out HIT SONG...sorry Kenneth...Been playin and Writeing Music 25 years and never had to still a riff ;) but hey thats just me :)
*I can't believe this FRAUD is still trying to make money off of Huey Lewis's song !!! Huey Lewis won the lawsuit - Ray stole it from Huey's song, "I Want a New Drug" - GAME OVER !!!*

That was a cluster. Apparently the movie-makers wanted Huey Lewis and the News, didn't get him, then played "I Want a New Drug" to Ray and said, give us something like this, which he did. Then Huey Lewis sued him and got a settlement, with the provision of a non-disclosure agreement, which he later violated, leading to a counter-suit to get some of the money back.
@@sandal_thong8631 Supposedly Huey Lewis had nothing against Parker though and it was all managers going back and forth. Didn't look too deep into verifying what I just said though, I remember hearing it in some other video or documentary.
My very first concert was Earth, Wind and Fire with The Brothers Johnson, The Emotions and Ray Parker, Jr. & Raydio. Needless to say, it was EPIC! I’ll sum it up…from NE’s “Mr. Telephone Man” to Joe Sample and The Crusaders and all points in between. Enough said. A brilliant musician. Respect and love due. When will Michael Henderson get some love?
If course he does... Despite his talent, that song, with its stolen riff is all he'll ever be known for. Having said that, it is one of the best songs ever written so, if that's all he's got on his CV, I'd hire him in a heartbeat.
Back in 1984; when I 1st saw "Ghostbusters"; they played the Whole of the video to Ray Parker Jr's Theme tune first, before the movie started! (but when it came round again a few months later n I took my younger brother; it just played the movie!) 👍🏻
You know, Gregg, what is so precious about the guy is how flat-out amazed he was....with all HIS talent.....to find himself playin' with the big boys, so to speak. A good man! It does one's heart good to know he got his rightful place in the sun. Thanks for sharing. Got to see this one. Hey, have you seen the HBO docu "Agnelli"? Totally different, but also fascinating.
Looks amazing! Looking forward to learning more about Ray Parker Jr.'s life and career. I was not aware that he worked with so many famous names in the music world before he did the theme song to Ghostbusters.
So, I love the Ghostbusters song, who doesn't? But it was like finding out Santa wasn't real when I found out the Ghostbusters song is a rip off of Huey Luis' song "I Want A New Drug". Its borderline the same song, just maybe improved. If you hear it, there is no doubt... I wonder if they touch on that in this documentary.
Although I didn't know him before this, and I was still little when it came out. Thank you for making such an awesome song to such an awesome franchise!
Who else shouted "He-Man" when he asked Who You Gonna Call? ;) For someone of my age, I pride myself on a fair amount - not a ton, but quite a lot compared to most Millennials - of knowledge on music from the Motown era (and other older music), and I had literally no idea how important Ray was. I can't wait to watch this.
Funny that Ghostbusters theme is so beloved and people don't know it's based on Huey Lewis and the News's "I Want a New Drug" after they turned down the gig of writing the theme song.
@@jamiehudson2747 I won't dispute the term "stolen" since there was a settlement. Meanwhile, the court case for "Stairway to Heaven" was rigged for Led Zeppelin to win since they weren't allowed to play the two songs to the jury, so you'd have to know sheet music or be a music expert on the jury to find for the plaintiffs.
One of the few films I can think of where there the song was as big a star as the actors.. I love my Ghostbusters Pinball.. Because of that incredible tune.. Thank you Ray
Studio musicians are the unsung hero's of the music industry and NEVER get the kudos' they deserve , just look at how few there are in the hall of fame , thank god Kay made it in finally (see Beach Boys and good vibrations for reference ) !
Hate to admit it but until this I did only know him from the Ghostbusters theme. My Mum is a huge Motown and Northern Soul fan and even she was surprised to see his connection to that.
This man is a bloody genius...I can't wait for this to come out.
It’s out. I watched it during my flight two days ago

You misspelled thief .
He stole the music from Huey Lewis
Thanks Ray for a perfect song for one of my favorite childhood movie franchises
Yeah since Huey Lewis did all the work for him since he literally admitted in court that he stole the beat and melody from I Wanna New Drug.
@@LUCKO2022 doing God's work. The people must know.
Don't you mean thank you Hewie Louis and THE NEWS and the Song I want a New Drug ;)

You should probably thank Huey Lewis
Seeing Ray Parker Jr. always reminds me of that Key and Peele sketch. I mean, he's a legend, but also that sketch was hilarious.
Very glad I wasn't the only one thinking this 🤣🤣
I ain't afraid of no 'stroid.
I was looking for this comment, that Key & Peele sketch is all I think of when I see him 🤣 but that’s just one song!
PASSION OF THE CHRIST!!!! LOL
you know my daddy is the boss!
One of the best musicians. Loved the Raydio days!
*This makes me remember the Key & Peele skit about RPJ having other songs besides "Ghostbusters." lol*
Ray is so much more than just Ghostbusters, his solo material, as well as the music with Raydio, stands the test of time..
Gotta love that he merely had the guys' TV spot segment to work from and he nailed the soul of Ghostbusters anyway!
Ah this is an artist that I've grown up with but don't know much about. Can't wait to see this
I love that the franchise gets such a revive now :)
I am in my 30s, a whole generation after this song was made. This is one of my favourite all time songs. A masterpiece.
The main song he's famous for is like a sonic anti-depressant that never loses its effect with time.
@Reggie Bannister one that won't make me sick................
My wife and sister-in-law are gonna wanna watch this. They're gonna love it!
Ray Parker Jr will always have a place in my favorite artists lists, especially since he created my favorite song of all time "Ghostbusters" 👻🚫.
I think what you mean to say is thank you Huey Lewis.
*I can't believe this FRAUD is still trying to make money off of Huey Lewis's song !!! Huey Lewis won the lawsuit - Ray stole it from Huey's song, "I Want a New Drug" - GAME OVER !!!*
That's your favourite song of all time?
Huey Lewis and the News? I wonder if they are gonna tackle that whole ordeal? I loved Ray Parker Jr. in that classic flick, "Enemy Territory".

Man, what a lineup! 👀
Thank you Ray for creating one of my favorite songs of all time GHOSTBUSTERS. 😎👍
Yes!!!!
THE MAN!!!!!
It’s cool that he still embraces the song all these years later.
If course he does... Despite his talent, that song, with its stolen riff is all he'll ever be known for.

This is awesome!! Give this man his flowers while he's still here. I'm glad he was able to get it done
Ghostbusters would not have been the same without him and his absolute marvel of a song. The two are simply inseparable.
Wow I’m so to have ray parker play on my Debut Solo Album… What an honor! 🙌🏽❤️
I'm 48 and Ghost Busters is still my all time favorite song ...
Great song to my favorite movie.

Great trailer! That song is still amazing. Great to learn more about him.

LONG OVERDUE, RAY!
Looking forward to this !
Nobody else on the planet could have gave us a greater ghostbusters song, ray is a genius
Huey Lewis did.
@@feldspar3858 it's crazy how so many people have no clue about I want a new drug lol
This makes me think about the Ray Parker Jr. Key & Peele sketch, which was hilarious. But this one definitely seems better and more accurate 😂

I was going to ask this too, but I didn't want to slag on the film ahead of time. They might, but I can't imagine the trailer having that in it.

I am a BIG Ray Parker Jr. (and Raydio) fan, so I gotta see this when it comes out!
This looks eerily similar to the Huey Lewis and the News documentary.
