"This bitch is not Kobe" Kobe took it from this movie. He LOVED this movie & that is when the "Black Mamba"/Kobe nickname took root. Tarantino wrote this in 97-00 before Kobe became the "black Mamba" & filming in 2002. Here is what Kobe himself said in a New Yorker interview in 2014. "He was the Black Mamba, a nickname he gave himself after watching Quentin Tarantino’s “Kill Bill,” in which the snake, known for its agility and aggressiveness, was used as a code name for a deadly assassin. “I read up on the animal and said, ‘Wow, this is pretty awesome,’ ” Bryant recalled. “This is a perfect description of how I would want my game to be.” Here he says in 2018 in the Washington Post talking about how lost & angry he was after his accusations in 2003: (He created the Black Mamba "alter ego" to help him deal with it.) "Then one night at home, Bryant couldn’t sleep. He scrolled through movies around 2 a.m. and hit play on the Quentin Tarantino revenge film “Kill Bill: Vol. 2.” He was hooked from the opening - a fantastical director telling a fantastical story - but a later scene affected Bryant profoundly: A character named Budd is removing cash from a suitcase when, beneath one of the stacks, a mysterious and deadly snake strikes him and he proceeds to suffer an excruciating death. “Budd,” Daryl Hannah’s character says, “I’d like to introduce my friend: the black mamba.” Bryant says he was almost hypnotized. “The length, the snake, the bite, the strike, the temperament,” he says, and it wasn’t lost on him that snakes can also shed their skin. “ ‘Let me look this s--- up.’ I looked it up - yeah, that’s me. That’s me!’ ” Even the Kobe Nike logo is copied & evolved from the symbol on Bill's sword. Tons of pictures of Kobe at the Kill Bill premiere in 2003 shaking Tarantino's hand. Kobe was a big Tarantino fan. FACTS 😎
You know it’s a Tarantino film when someone says “what do you mean deformed, she only missin’ one arm” and “the wheelchair business is gonna be poppin’ tomorrow”. Priceless.

Chiaki kuriyama (Gogo ) got this role because Tarantino saw her in Battle Royale (another brilliant film) and immediately knew he needed her in a film. Black and white battle scene was a clever way to slip past the Censors and keep the film at an R instead of NC-17

This (along with Vol 2 as a four-hour extravaganza) is probably my favorite movie of all time, and I'm so hyped you recognize the Bride as the GOAT. She's always brought up in terms of famous FEMALE cinematic badasses, but IMO she's simply the greatest all around and it's not even close. EPIC reaction, by far the best Kill Bill reaction on YT. This is Tarantino's masterpiece.
I've heard that all Quentin Tarantino movies exist in the same universe. For example, Vincent Vega from Pulp Fiction is the brother of Vic Vega (aka Mr. Blonde) in Reservoir Dogs. Also they all have the same products like Red Apple Cigarettes. In this shared movie universe, Kill Bill and Kill Bill 2 is a blockbuster movie series playing at the theatre.
Kill Bill was Tarantino's first movie I watched as a kid, so you must imagine how violent this movie was for a 8-yeras-old kid. Then I saw Inglourious Basterds, Pulp Fiction and even, his latest film "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood", which was a love letter to Hollywood classic from the late 60's.
When you watch part 2, look for the character Senor Esteban. He's played by Michael Parks, who also played the Texas Ranger in part 1. I didn't realize this for years! He was an amazing actor.
The yellow jumpsuit with the black stripe Uma Thurman's wearing is a reference to a movie called "Game of Death" that Bruce Lee wore and unfortunately he didn't completely finish , however they still released it with a substitute actor for certain parts. It's a great movie to see on a side note and there's different level bosses at the end of the movie one of which is Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
When Hollywood writers complain that their terrible scripts are great and only toxic males hate strong women, this movie is a BIG FU to those terrible writers. As you said Uma is up near the top in Beastmode action kills. I often forget her when bringing up bad ass female roles. Hell, this isn't a badass female role. No need for a modifier. This is one of the best action films of all time and Uma did a fantastic job. A strong script with a great actress for the win.
33:55 EOM: "I mean, she's on the plane with her sword making a death list. Like, *who does this?!* Like, she ain't even trying to hide it! Only the GOAT can get away like that."
The loud beep early on during the scenes with Vivica A. Fox, is to hide the characters name. She's simply known as "The Bride" in the first film, which she is listed as that in the credits. It was done that way similar to other stories, such as most Spaghetti Westerns, where the main character's name isn't known. Production I.G. did the anime sequences in the film, which they are one of the top animation studios in Japan, having made tons of well known Anime series, but also have done several video games too.
So Kill Bill was inspired by the movie "Lady Snowblood", a Japanese movie where a woman has a child so that her child can take revenge for the people who ruined her life and killed her family. It's told in an out-of-order style with flashbacks that also inspired Tarantino's style. (He's claimed inspiration from a great many samurai films, so it's no wonder.) The leading actress in "Lady Snowblood" is Meiko Kaji. She also sang the title song "Shura No Hana" ("Flower of Carnage") for Snowblood, which is used here in the garden scene after The Bride kills O-Ren Ishii and rests on the bench. When Kill Bill came out, it generated new interest for the song, and thus her, and galvanized Kaji to restart her singing career. I really recommend Lady Snowblood as one you should watch, especially given its artistry and cinematographic beauty. Compared to Kill Bill, it's actually rather tame! From Wikipedia: "According to Meiko Kaji, Tarantino made the cast and crew of Kill Bill watch DVDs of Lady Snowblood during filming breaks."
That J's voice started off high-pitched and almost never dipped... just made this reaction so much more enjoyable LOOOL! (P.S. >> and it's so cuuuute how the soft, gentle furbaby behind him was just quietly trying to sleep through it all!
26:22 never thought Id see you literally fanboy that hard. Loved it and your reaction! My husband I saw both movies in the theater. 39:05 if i was in your immediate frien group, you would know The Bride was GOAT'ed 5 minutes after I left the theater! Cant wait for reaction to Vol. 2.

A) She didn't INTENTIONALLY kill Vernita in front of her kid. Vernita restarted the fight and Nikia came back in at the wrong moment. B) She didn't tell Nikia that she would kill her, she told her that if she was still mad when she grew up, she would give Nikia the opportunity to kill her.
"this bitch is not Kobe" Kobe actually got his shoe design logo and nickname from this movie, i remember saying the same damn thing the first time i watched this😂
I read rumors that if Tarantino did a KB 3 it would involve Vivica Fox's grown-up daughter. Don't know how truthful the rumors were but as you said what she said to the child at the beginning was memorable.
This reaction was everything I wanted and more. I laughed for the entirety of the video. That part where you had to pause to get your thoughts out. Watching them both close together is best as it's technically one movie.
“She made you a convertible, bitch”. Had to pause at that point, as I was laughing way too hard. Too funny. 😂

16:07 - That's Korean anime for you.
34:27 - Yeah, that was ALL of our reaction.
37:46 - Two points here.
Hopefully you don't wait too long to do Vol 2. I liked that one even better
It just went up on the patreon a few minutes ago, and it'll be on UA-cam next Monday

"She made you convertible, b*tch!" Man, I was laughing so hard that comment, now my sides hurt.
Great reaction! The RZA did an amazing job on the music...
"She made you a convertible b*tch." took me out! 🤣 I love your reactions.
Uma Thurman is just riding on Jennifer Lawrence's coat tails.

"this bitch is not Kobe" Kobe actually got his shoe design logo and nickname from this movie, i remember saying the same damn thing the first time i watched this😂
"She made you a convertible bitch!" 🤣🤣🤣 There's your tshirt slogan
Yooo! I have never laughed so hard on a reaction video!! you made my night!!
“she’s doin this shit in tube socks” i’m rolling😂
She made you a convertible with your top off and your socks on. I’m bagging up. 😂😂😂
You are right about GOAT...especially on badass females in film...she should be up there with Sarah Connor and Ripley on everyone's lists (if not #1)
I read rumors that if Tarantino did a KB 3 it would involve Vivica Fox's grown-up daughter. Don't know how truthful the rumors were but as you said what she said to the child at the beginning was memorable.
Soundtrack is fantastic. I still bump to this day.
You can totally buy a sword, man! You don’t have to do anything with it, just look at it and how badass it is!
This reaction was everything I wanted and more. I laughed for the entirety of the video. That part where you had to pause to get your thoughts out. Watching them both close together is best as it's technically one movie.
Where you think Kobe GOT his nickname from!?!?
