Renovating the Putting Green Expansion

- Last year I doubled the size of my putting green by just scalping down the grass that was already there. As a result, the old, existing grass really struggled in relation to the bentgrass that I have seeded. It was time to top dress the green and, with that, I decided it would be a great time to overseed into that area of the green. There were some struggles along the way including it getting washed out, but it is now in the nicest condition that it has ever been in, especially with the expansion.
Next videos will be bringing the height of cut back down and getting that new seed to establish.
The overseed seemed to have worked out very well for you! Cant wait to see you work it back down to greens height
5" of rain.... Good gawd! Drought stricken GA woulda loved that! Man, the green is looking GREAT
We are having the exact opposite of last year. Something like 12" of rain in June. Probably had 8" of rain all last year.
Sweet!
That is looking so good. I've been trying to follow the same steps and albeit a bit slow, it is coming along. I've been cutting my common bermuda at .5 inches with my Earthwise 16". Thanks for the videos, as always very informative and to the point.
Thank you. Especially with bermuda you should be looking for a greensmower at all times. Keep the whole yard cut short. Then find some hybrid sprigs and send it.
Anyone know where to get hybrid sprigs in Cali? Seems like they only sell it in bulk@@JasonSeiberlich
I have Tee-2-Green PC2.0 and the seed company has great information on how to grow bentgrass from seed.
Jacklin also has a really good one.
Excellent informative videos. I am finding that the weakest link to this process, in terms of cost, is finding a reasonably priced reel mower that will provide a cut less than 1/2".
Yes. The mower hunt is the most grueling amd highest cost part. Maintenance of it once you have it also not cheap.
After throwing my swardman in the trash (literally), I just broke down and got a sunjoe. Can’t wait for cooler weather.
How do you handle earthworm castings? Those mounds they make are full of sand and dull a reel in a heartbeat…
Theres no sand in the castings from my worms. All they do is build up on the rollers.
But tea seed meal and then there are a few other products that are toxic to worms to reduce castings.
love the channel i too had about 6'' inches of rain the 2 days following after i spread the seed but have very good germination but still will have to re seed certain areas. how long until you re seeded the wash out areas on your green??
As soon as I realized it had washed. It all failed, though. So, not sure what's going on.
@@JasonSeiberlich ahh i see do you think if i re seed it will damage any of the baby seed?? not sure what to do but def will need to do something!
Did you do anything for drainage before you started?
No. I'm on the side of a hill, so drainage not an issue.
