For anyone who likes classic Brit sitcoms of the 'As Time Goes By' type, this movie will leave you with lots of laughs and a feeling of bonhomie.
The larger than life James Robertson Justice, better known to fans of the 'Doctor' series of Richard Gordon book-derived movies, is always worth watching. He is one actor whose presence can keep a movie afloat no mater how bad the supporting cast. In this movie, he is ably supported by an excellent cast of English comedians, including the great Hugh Lloyd, Leslie Phillips, Ronnie Barker and so on.
They couldn't make films like this anymore... pure, great comic fun with a perfect cast...wonderful..! 😊
How glad I am to find this channel , I love old British films ,not enough of them around nowadays a lot more entertaining than some of the drivel on certain other streaming channels.
Baxter, Robertson Justice and Philips.
Always a great comedy team, with the added bonus of Ronnie Barker. 👍🏻
The chaos at the Pageant is brilliant, so many comedy actors in a "blink and you'll miss them" situation...great film. Thank you.
Whoever wrote this s a genius. plus the brilliant acting, Makes this one of my favorite films. I was three years old when this classic was made. Not like the rubbish today. a laugh every minute. thank you for sharing.
A friend of mine introduced this movie to me, I'm 16 and it's one of my favorite because of how over-the-top Sir Beverly Grant is.
So So True, gorgeous happy film xx
I love classic films like this-thanks....Ronnie Barker is pure genius
This was really good. I’m currently remodeling an older house. Nothing has changed in the 60 years since this film was made.
Lovely lovely film, funny, light hearted, gorgeous feeling about it, fab cast, Love L.Phillips So much, what a talent, this is what you call entertainment 😊
One of those old Sunday Afternoon movies that seems to have everybody in it,even Marty Hopkirk!
I really enjoyed this film...I had never seen this before..I am from Kentucky, but I live in Bavaria,Germany now...Years ago as a teen they had British sitcoms on tv,and hell I loved them..
A brilliant comedy featuring the irrepressible James Robertson Justice who is superb as the interfering father. JRJ was a wonderful character actor who lifted any film he starred in. The nearest we have to him today is I suppose Brian Blessed. The way he smacks Leslie Phillips' bottom every morning made me laugh out loud.....or LOL as you young people say! Thank you for taking the trouble to upload it....
Sorry ...You're right Stanley's derriere!
@@Chardonbois SIR Rodderick Chipfield.
Lots of fun. My dad would have loved that foot in the bucket bit. 😊
THANKU ROLLS ROYCE great memories of past childhood happy times with family watching these golden oldies together. Cheers
I laughed like a drain when Leslie Phillips came crashing down the stairs in a bath-tub! Great movie!
Watched this as a kid in the late 70s or early 80s and couldn't remember the name. All I remembered was the father talking about 30 amp fuses lol. Gotta love the internet.
One of the most hilarious comedies I have ever watched
Brilliant follow up from fast lady , unforgettable movie classic s , wish they still made movie,s like this .
This film is a real delight from start to finish
Ah I remember this from years ago I'll enjoy watching it tonight
I feel sorry for poor Dexter...He is such a sweetheart..
Stanley Baxter's hair colour kept changing. From blonde to auburn and back again. It gave a sense of when each scene was filmed in chronological order. Did anyone else notice?
Absolutely fantastic film and what a fabulous kitchen she had in mind!!! I absolutely adore these films and google searching the casts and history !!! Poor Robson Justice had a poor end to his life , penniless and sleeping on a friend's spare bed
asa Even worse his only son/child drowned in a stream near their house when he was a toddler? *#$
WOW...That is so sad..when these people gave us such pleasure..and still do...life really is so cruel.
@@marklittler784 Doesn't it get even worse than that. With his daughter after his wife died?
@@jeffinnocent1623 Biography on wiki said he had affairs but also said he only had one child it didn't mention he had a daughter or are you refering to a film he was in ?
@@marklittler784 No Mark, unless I was dreaming. I watched a documetary on youtube where they interviewed his daughter and basically after his wife died she was requiered to replace her in every department. It was a very disturbing revelation. But please don't take my word for it. If I have time I'll try and find it and get back to you. It also revealed that he had completey manufactured his history. I'm not sure who puts compiles Wiki biographies anyway. I assure you I'm not a gossip monger or a sensationalist. I am a fan of his work, even though he has a limited acting range, so it was't something i enjoyed finding out.
Good Movie!
That little Toaster! I'd never seen one like that!
Thank you so much for sharing this - brilliant.
Just watched JRJ drive the same car in Doctor in Clover!
The star of the film is the 1960 Ford Galaxie Sunliner Convertible. Rolling Art!
Wonderful! Every character so well acted! Thanx for sharing!
Now I see the relevance to the Rolls Royce Club interest. 🧚🏼👏🏼
If only they made movies like this now.
Thank You...Loved This Movie...Worth the Laughs and ...LOL
I think it's wonderful you uploaded this beautiful film, and I am very grateful :)
Thank you 😊
Typical British weather, its a wise man that carries an umbrella when the suns shining! 😃😁😅
Absolutely one of my favourites
thanks
At this writing (7/23/2019), Stanley Baxter is 93 and Leslie Phillips is 95. Bless them. P.S.: this movie might hold the record for the ruining of expensive and stylish clothing.
Fabulous cast indeed.
At least there's some amusing music in places to remind us it's a comedy.
James Robertson justice pure genius
I think this film is the follow up film after 'The Fast Lady.' They have changed the actress for the role of the daughter, it was Julie Christie in the first one. Thanks for posting, it is great!
THEY WOULDNT OR COULDNT MAKE FILMS LIKE THIS TODAY THEY HAVNT GOT THE SAME CLASS OF COMEDY ACTORS.
Great British film, thank you for uploading it RR
The follow up to the fast lady film Leslie Phillips magic as always estate agent or used car salesman smooth as silk! give this man a knighthood for services to film and British culture!
I don't think it's considered a followup or "sequel" because they are not playing the same characters as in the Fast Lady as they have different names, though they are playing similar characters, so it's not a sequel really just a different film. If they made something like this today I think a good choice of actor to fit James Robertson Justice's character he so often played would be Rupert Vansitart who played Lord Ashfordley in Heartbeat.
James Robertson Justice. ❤❤
Felt just like a carry on, great fun
I'd watch this again!!!
Description states "the great Hugh Lloyd"...guess I must've missed him!! A great cast nevertheless and good comedy. The classic slapstick wallpapering scenes were performed by Norman Wisdom and Bruce Forsyth in ITV's Sunday Night at the London Palladium around the early 60s. Great British comedy classic.
He played Mary, Queen of Scots 1:20:20,
Along the lines of "George Washington Slept Here,"(Jack Benny) "Mr Blandings Builds His Dream House" (Cary Grant) and "The Money Pit" 1980's , I believe.
Again, great----many many more, James Robertson Justice is one of my favorites and I can come up with Ian Carmichael's last name---I think!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you, "please, sir, may I have more?" as many more as you have or can find.
I also like Leslie Phillips he is so oily.
Old British films the best !
I love the Scottish actor Stanley Baxter, and my favourite old film.
I came into this thinking it was a continuation of 'The Fast Lady'. Am I wrong to think that?
A delightful comedy film crammed full of some of the funniest British comedians and comedy actors of the 60s. A great antidote to all the bad news we are currently inundated with. Enjoy. 😷😎♥️
Brilliant. I loved the Scrubbers what a great addition. Many great British actors, including g, Ronny Barker, Thank you for sharing.
Love these films
Filmed in Pangbourne /Purley -on- Thames
Didn't know that (used to live quite near there). The cottage looks like a set.
I little known fact about James Robertson Justice. He spoke seven different languages. An extremely intelligent man, he was painfully shy off camera and lived a life so private, there is very little known about him.
+maico I followed your link and looked. It must be a very hard to get book. Amazon want £115 for it in paperback. If you have a copy consider yourself very lucky.
For our American friends, £115 is about $780,000. Ha ha ha.
Actually 115 British pounds = $150.62 USA as of 8/2016, which is still very expensive for a paperback book.
Kelley Is it? Actually.
Yes, this is the current currency exchange rate as of 8/30/16. www.xe.com/currencyconverter
Kelley Are you American by any chance?
Cracking music!
Thanks wonderful
a lovely one .........fab comedy
Delightful! Thank you RollsRoyce!
Scot guy is a perfect rangger. ❤️
Great old movie.....
Ironically in the opening scenes, it's bright sunshine and they had to resort to using a rainmaking machine... a bit arse about face for average British weather....
Another British film good cast comedy
Watching it again, still really enjoying it.
As before please many more of this type of films.
Again, thank you.
I have been looking for this movie for ages thanks very much
i love james robinson justice thankyou uploader
when Grant drives off with his wing mirror in Roddy's hand .. classic
thank you for this jem of a movie !!!!! i loved it that is a real show !!!
I remember this film being shown on Saturday mornings when I was growing up in the 80s. For some reason I never forgot it… probably helped by the catchy theme tune, which often comes to mind! :) I started watching this for the first time in 30+ years and was laughing straight away. Just my sort of thing! Thanks for uploading! Was it originally widescreen?
This is a great comedy, but the fire itself is extremely eerie. Fuseboxes like those often didn't work properly; no trip-switches; and the guy was only doing a moderate overloading-the-circuit job (the father's meddling didn't help). When the cable bursts aflame, it's shocking! Fire in a country cottage is nasty and ghostly. But the old fart's interfering in that ramshackle, haunted house - funny as heck. Bet he ate Patum Pepperium.
Thanks so much...so enjoyable!
From 1:05:37, you can hear the cow mooing upstairs as the wallpaper slowly peels off! Yes - it sounds like music, but it isn't - the production caught that great cow's voice after she'd somehow climbed to the first floor. But don't worry - she was down before the fire began. MMMM-MOOOOOOO!
Superb cast.
Brilliant 👍🏆
Kinda puts you IN mind of the movie THE MONEY PIT
Let's be honest it's Murdoch Troon two years down the line.
Baxter's wife was gorgeous!
Thank you so much! I didnt expect to see this again.Am I weird I must be Ive always found James Robertson Justice so sexy! that subversive humour, the ability to engage in slapstick! In fact, the realisation that he was born to play "pompous balloons prickt" He does it so well, you might be for thinking he was Not a comedic actor.Mwah
Ol
Quite an enjoyable light comedy
According to a listing I came across when it was shown on ITV in the mid 90s, it said it was the sequel to The Fast Lady. How can Father Came Too be the sequel to the Fast Lady when both films don't have the same characters?.
Forget how the years fly and to see the old parking meters ;)and parking attendants are still unpopular!!
This is kind of the British version of Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House.
Never thought of that ! ... It's so much better and funnier though ! 😅
That poor boy's buttoks 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Love the way the cow managed to get upstairs! (Hear the Mooing from 1:05:36 to 1:05:49.) A hilarious movie, but that fire WAS very ghostly. You could see that blundering, nay, blithering ass was going to set the place alight. And it wasn't even thatched!😄
In my opinion The Fast Lady was a better film, although all these films are better than anything shown today.
It was great to see JRJ get his come uppance from Margaret Rutherford in one of her murder films
just Awesome thank you x
4:20 xD MORNING DEXTER, RISE AND SHINE!
Here I go!
Great film, but more reminds me more of a cross between the Britcoms, The Good Life, and Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em.
These always have me in tears of laughter! 😂 4:25 21:36 57:03
Great movie thanks
Funny but sad at the same time
thought this was The Fast Lady 2!
Great movie instead of the WOKE, dark trash Hollywierd makes today. A classic with James Roberston Justice.
it's Dell boy's father! (the cow guy)
He also played Max in Inspector Morse,
Classic film!!
Good
He was in the fast lady.
Thank you, many more Please, I really like british films like this from the late 30's through the mid 60's
I think James Robertson Justice is great, so is Margaret Rutherford/Rutherfurd Leslie Phillips, Ian __________, David Tomlinson etc. (p[ease forgive misspellings and forgetting Ian last name it starts Mc I think.
+oldgrumpy wilson Yes, thank you.
Steven Grotte Ian Carmicheal?
Classic LOL fun :-D
