A different way to prune. I love it. I have two large bushes that I can rejuvenate to create an umbrella.
😂 the timing of this video is perfect. Our friendly neighbourhood rabbits did this work for me last winter 😳. Was wondering what I was going to do as all its growth is up top. If ya can't beat 'em join 'em. 😊.
Love the end results, your pruning technique is wonderful, thanks for teaching your subscribers how to prune correctly.
Never thought of doing that with a burning bush. Thanks for the idea. Love it
That was a great learning experience Ray. Thanks.
I've been working on mine for a few years now. The previous owners let it get way out of control, it was lovely but way out of control. I'm trying to get it back to a rounded bush shape about 4-5ft tall to make it easier to maintain 😊😊
Love seeing the structure of the tree. Very attractive.
Thanks for the video. Looks great!
Thanks 🙏🏼
Beautiful results
Absolutely beautiful work!
You’ve inspired me to do this to my burning bush.
Thank you ❤
Thank you! I’m so glad it helped you.
This was very helpful!! Thanks!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
You treated that tree like Tommy Fury treated Jake Paul.
🤣😂🤣 Jake might have been devastated but Tommy sure was happy and I am too. That bush is so much better as a tree. 😂🤣
Linda Vater fan of multi-stem small trees : )
I have one too and it is in tree form.
Thank you for your very interesting video. Can you please tell me if this bush is the compacts variety.
No it is the old fashioned version that wants to get large.
It looks good, I have done it with my Rose of Sharon but never thought about doing this technique with burning bush, also I had never heard the term apical dominance, I had to look up the definition. I appreciate learning so much from your channel!
Sorry I should have explained that term. Sometimes I get to talking and forget to speak like a normal peraon. 😂🤣😂🤣 glad you enjoyed the video!

Keep doing what you are doing, it inspires me and I am sure others as well!
It’s an aggressive invasive species, so my pruning recommendation is cut it flush to the ground and apply a concentrated herbicide (glyphosate or triclopyr) to the stump.
Yes it can be invasive. I personally take care to pull out any saplings that sprout up. But if someone wants to just kill the plant and remove it your recommendation to apply a herbicide is good. Thanks for commenting.
It's not invasive everywhere.
Yes...go with your gut!
I thought that's lovely and I'm going to try my best to copy you.
Great result. How old was the bush? I just planted one and I'm hoping it's going to stay small for a while?
This plant was planted by a previous homeowner but it is at least 15 years old.
I watched Linda Later YT for her topiary that I have on my decks and porch. I have 2 burning bushes, would of never though of doing the trimming at all for them. That would be a good deal I think. Is it to late to do it in a zone 6a-b? Just love the color of the leaves and the birds like the berries to eat. Stay Safe till the next time.
I think you would be fine in zone 6. Yes I do love the color as well.

I watched Linda Vater and trimmed up my burning bush too!
Yes. It was a Great tip. I am LOVING mine.
I just put in 4 burning bushes. They are only about 2 feet tall. When do you think is too early to start trimming into a tree form? I really like the way yours ruined out and I also think that cutting those two side branches gave it better balance.
I would let them get some size and get well established into their spot first. You need to allow for several branches in the structure of the shrub to beef up enough to become your main stems. You can selectively prune out stuff anytime but I would wait at least a year so you can get a true sense of what to have to work with.
@@HorticultureGeek sorry autocorrect wrote ruined instead of turned😜
@@boysrus61 That's ok, I knew what you meant. Autocorrect is the worst sometimes. LOL
Much better look......
It looks nice, but you will have less of the red leaves 🍁 in the fall.
Do you have to keep pruning to maintain tree form?
I only have to do minimal clean up each spring to remove little branches that have sprung up. It doesn’t require much work at all. This year it took me maybe 3 min to pop anything unwanted off.
@@HorticultureGeek Nice. Thank you.
Can you show me how to propagate burning bush
I can certainly do a video on that but it is a spring project because you need new growth to propagate. Also before you plant or propagate burning bush make sure it is legal in your area. It can be invasive so some places have banned it.
