Thanks for doing this series. I think you’re doing it exactly like a lot of people (me included) would build it out. Wheel it as is, then get some reasonable tires, then wheel it some more and find out what you need next. Great video.
Jeep's recent price increases have resulted in a total collapse here in Australia - from 30000 in 2014 to 4600 last year. It's just a matter of time until Jeep gives up here - in a market that is red hot for 4x4s ...
Wow inflation is rampant.. 2022 paid a huge amount of money, 50k for a gladiator sport S diesel automatic with towing package... Dana 44s... Insane....
WOW! This is the kind of base model Wrangler that I like. It only needs a 2" lift ant 31" tires. Lots of fun and even more smiles! I bought my 2002 TJ Sport soft top without automatic transmission and love it.
My pre-Covid JTR was ~50k (fully loaded) OTD…and that wasn’t a “special” price. Sad to say, this will probably be my last after having Jeeps for the past 10 years.
You're not wrong about the manual. Horrible transmission. I loved the feel of the JK manual, but it was a piece of garbage for other reasons. Horribly manuals since the AX-15.
I have owned a 2016 2 door sport for the last 5 years and it now has almost 90,000 miles and I’ve only replaced tires once and only needed one repair. It was a thermostat and it was definitely more expensive than I would have liked but it’s still far cheaper to fix a vehicle than to go buy a new one.
Love the 2 door. Had a 2017 2 door Sport S, auto hardtop. Only thing we put on it was set of sliders. Went all kinds pf places. Wayalife had a manual 2 door sport. Should check out their video of them offroading it stock. It was crazy where they took it.
I bought a base model Jeep brand new at the end of 23 but it came with a RC step and 2.5 lift with 33’s and fuel rims out the door 35k. I’ve since added a bumper and winch and it’s been to Moab and Colorado. Going to regear and put 35’s and then do keeper’s jamboree next year.
$35k for a new '24 isn't bad, but only by comparison to the $45k avg. I know that isn't the point of the story but most buyers are better off spending $25 grand and getting a better equipped last gen model w/40k. Drive it till 150k miles and do it over again. You let someone else take the massive depreciation hit & still get the vast majority of the vehicle's lifespan. Invest the difference, be rich, and thank me later. 🎉
No one ever had any issue buying the base sport TJ's and lifting it and bigger tires on themselves... why is this such a big deal now? Oh, right. Because most people just buy mall crawlers and don't do jeep things
Plenty of people would buy a base Wrangler. But dealers don’t stock them because the profit is made on unnecessary “convenience” packages and dealer installed options. You hit the nail on the head and your opening monologue; “all the wranglers we see on dealer lots cost over 60k” And that’s why they’re still sitting on dealer lots. And btw, I stopped watching when I saw the automatic.
People really do not comprehend how inflation has blown up. For example I had bought a 2019 Colorado Z71 in 2019. That vehicle was MSRP about 41k but I ended up paying 34.5k for it after discounts. In 2024 that truck would have cost about 50.4k MSRP, and 42.2k respectively. I just traded in my 19 Colorado in March for a 2024 Colorado ZR2. That truck cost around 55k with all of the options I chose with only minimal discounts at the time. :( That same truck would have cost 44.6k new in 2019. Probably would have been even less since I got around 18% off MSRP in 2019 so I probably would have paid south of 40k for a fully loaded 3rd gen ZR2 in 2019 if it wasn't for all of this massive inflation the past 4 years.
This is like when Porsche got a new head and when he killed all the models but the 911, he was asked what someone who wants an affordable Porsche can buy. He responded that the person who wants an affordable Porsche should buy a used Porsche. This is now what Stellantis wants with Jeep. You want an affordable Wrangler? Go find a good JK. And I have to say, you're wrong on color. While that blue is nice, white is the best color on a Wrangler.
In Europe average Wrangler price it is 85k dolar for short and 117k dolar for long. All its base model. Stelantis want use 1.4 tjet in Wrangler....and 0.9 MultiAir in Compass and Tenegade..... Idiots forom Stelantis....
That’s a $29k tops jeep. I remember when the Rubicon came out it was $41k and everyone thought that was crazy expensive. I would love a jeep but they are way over priced.
I have a willys sport gladiator. It's a manual and I completely agreed with the transmission. I haven't used 6th gear since the 1st 2 weeks I had it and the clutch drives me nuts. I LOVE the clutch in my Mustang, this one sucks. The engine has been great if underpowered. Wish it had a 5.7. The windows I don't mind but not having power locks is a pain in the rump! the color is Gobi which people love. I paid 40k for mine, it's a 2022. Did come with bed liner also.
Any new vehicle is not cheap anymore. That’s why I buy five years old at least. But I would take that jeep over a side by side with a cab that costs about the same any day.
Nice review 👍👍👍👍 Awesome simple Jeep, I have never owned a Jeep but this identical model, I would take a risk owning one especially that Pentastar is hit and miss. At least they are not Turbo or Hybrid or EV.
These jeeps are normally dead reliable for 80k miles. First things that replaced are wheel bearings, axle u joints, and the rezeppa joints in the drive shafts. All those items fail on toyotas at the same mileage. Plus the awful toyota steering shaft failure. You ain't a mechanic. Stop spreading lies.
A ready-made manufactured deathtrap. Amazes me that it is allowed on American roads given how poorly it does on crash tests. Not to mention its terrible handling which will help get it into a crash
in the free world you can buy a new jimny for 17k..........in USA you dont have suzuki, no mahindra, no Chinese cheap cars.....USA in a closed market guys...like a communist country XD
Push button start without keyless entry has to be one of the weirdest combos 😆
There's a crash test video where it showed the front wheel roll under the Jeep and caused the Jeep to flip before they added that bracket.
Getting a jeep with a FACTORY hardtop is a smart decision.
I am a curmudgen. I love no power windows and door locks👍😊

🤣 "HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED"....BUT, NOT FIXED! AT 3:43~
Good 33" tires and a small 2-3" lift would make it good offroad.
So happy you guys have a wrangler back in the fleet! Can’t wait to see this series!

No. They're jus making them for the masses anymore. Way more money in selling a third as many vehicles at double the price
There's a company that makes electronic door lock conversion. It's like $250 for both doors and the tail gate.

I’m a Jeep guy and have no idea what you mean by JTR?
Pentastar may be old but still has plenty of issues.
You're not wrong about the manual. Horrible transmission. I loved the feel of the JK manual, but it was a piece of garbage for other reasons. Horribly manuals since the AX-15.
You did the jeep. Why not to the big bend bronco.
I can’t get enough of these two doors. I think everyone should have one.

I Love Bill! Thank you. This just inspired me to find my own cheap Jeep.

The last vehicle I owned with hand crank windows was a 1994 F150 XL Super cab back in the 90s
I have a 2014 JK that I paid about 40,000 (Canadian) - which seemed very high at the time. Those US prices would translate to 70,000 CAD. Forget it.
We Canadians are always get ripped off,$70000 for a little jeep is insane

DON'T LIFT IT!
High clearance fenders for 35" tires and front bumper, rock rails, and go Conquer trails!
You should see if you can install a few basics like power mirrors for cheap.

Case gave the price away on a different video lol.thanks guys

If history holds true this will be the collectable one in 30 years.
I like this look.
Anyone paying more than $40k for a Stellantis product shouldn't be allowed to vote.
Kinda of a self aptitude test 😂
@@nothingtoseaheardammit Spoken like a true liberal!🤣
@@rodjones812What a rich reply…🤡
Hi we saw you drove up in a 60k Jeep. You can’t vote but we do have a timeshare you might like

1. Poor Andre lol. Feel bad for ya.
2. $4500 for the automatic is highway robbery!!
You should durability test it
Don’t get a 4xe. Jeep just report it may catch fire
Hide yo kids, hide yo wife, all these Jeeps catching fire! 🔥
I almost ditched my Titan for a Gladiator. So glad I didn’t do that lol🙏🏽
That pentastar does not look like the one in my 2021 grand cherokee?
base model is the best .steel wheel are for real off road 😁
Great video
With the way things are going good chance there will be a lot of cheaper Jeeps soon. 😅
Those jeeps should and will be 20k again soon.
I have a 2015 Base Sport.
I like reviews of the more affordable cars.

I rather buy a 2018 jlu sport for cheap everything you need and more I got mine for 27,500 in 2021 with 20,xxx miles
I paid $39k for my 2019, 2 door, manual, rubicon.
I mean, cheapish Fiat. Jeep died a long time ago. 😢
Cheap jeeps ....LOL! endless repairs ...isn't CHEAP~. THIS IS WHY JEEP, RAM, TOYOTA, GM, ETC ARE ALL IN TROUBLE!
