Hey Happy New Year Brother Brew ...... Yeah I'm not sure how old that info was or is ... But like I say its all about common sense . I think all knives are illegal if used in suspicious situations haha . Just got to be careful . A few years ago I was just out walking my dogs and I had a very large bowie that I was shoulder harness carrying ... I ran into a police officer and he had asked me about the blade . I though I was in deep doo-doo !! He said " come here for a minute ",,,, Thank God all he wanted to know was " where can I get one of these ??? I love it "!! Unfortunately it was a custom design haha .... But he still gave me compliments which was nice . ( it was one of my aldo bowies I had made ....the first one ). I have like 4 now . Cant wait to show you my newest one I had someone make . They knocked this one out of the park Big Time !!! Stay tuned and Keep Safe as always .
I’m struggling with it haha . Had since Christmas and I break it out a few times a week . My wife of course gets all nutty when I’m trying to flip and twirl Inside the house haha . And just been too cold outside to be practicing. But I will get there one of these days . It’s the best I’ve ever had . I really would like to get a hold of that Benchmade 63 though . They are always hard to find . But still … this Bear & Sons is pretty bad ass . Just hope I can get a better technique down 🙏

I have never gotten beyond a cheap balisong trainer, but I have a Bear and son 2.5 inch blade. No model number but a damn nice small pocket knife They make nice stuff.

Happy New Year to the mighty CCB!! :-) . Balisong knives have been illegal in the UK since 1989. I was a knife collector even back then, and had a beautiful Balisong that I bought from a local fishing tackle store when I was 13, and used it as my fishing knife without much thought- when they weren't biting, I would practice flaring with it, and aside from a couple of boo-boo's along the way, I got pretty good. Then 2 years later it was 1989, and suddenly I was in possession of an offensive weapon!! :-( . The police held a 2 month 'amnesty', where any knives that had been bought legally before the ban, could be handed in at any police station for destruction. Being a decent kid, I went along to the station, and submitted my beloved Balisong, regretted it deeply within 30 seconds of leaving the desk, and have never been able to replace it in all the years since. If you live where they are legal, then flip and twirl them with joy for all of us who can't :-)
That breaks my heart !! It’s like turning in a loved one to the police ….. The guilt would be unbearable. Haha Seriously though …. Storied like that are priceless . I had sold so many beautiful blades about a decade ago - some are impossible to find like your balisong . As soon as I would ship out the blade , the blues set in . Got some of them back over the years like my Cold Steel Natchez. The Natchez is nice and all but now every time I look at it , it reminds me of my original. I think my original was nicer - better . It’s the same exact knife but I just can’t put my finger on it !!! Something isn’t the same !!!! Anyway …. Thanks for your story . I enjoy reading these knife tales . Man, nice knife. I'm from Canada, when I was 12 my parents brought me to Florida. I had like 200$ I had saved , paper route etc... I was in a mall and found a martial arts store, bought a sick dragon embossed butterfly knife. Spent 100$ on it back then '84. It was beautiful. I smuggled it back in my luggage , was my prized possession for years. Almost impossible to get balisongs in Canada. Have to know a guy who knows a guy lol. Same with auto's. I have a line on a couple socom elites, 400$ Canadian dollars, so 300usd. I say this because when balisongs come around just like auto's here in Canada you gotta snatch them up. That dragon embossed butterfly sounds really familiar….. I think my buddy in high school tried to sell me one ( forget how much ). And it was around that time period between 82-85 . It is illegal to own automatic knives and balisongs in my state. However, people can still obtain them pretty easily thanks to the local flea markets and also the fact that most online knife dealers ship them to my state anyway.

As I said .. you could live anywhere and if you are out there doing something crazy , and you have a knife on you ( fixed - butterfly - pocket ), the cops are going to confiscate. But if you are just doing your own thing , not bothering anybody, and you happen to have in your pocket , I think it’s ok to have . I think 🤔 Guess it depends on the police officer and what mood he is in haha
It was the outsiders movie that made me want a switchblade.but they were unavailable.i got a balisong instead.at 1st glance I thought 2bit had a switchblade but nope.he was that fast at the balisong.also your knife with the ceracote.thats the finish lile knives put on the first blood knives.nice hat by the way!!

@@rottvang My all time favorite pocket knife has got to be the World Famous Buck 110 . The original. I recommend trying to find a vintage one in great shape on eBay . If not - the ones being sold now are still just as good . And believe it or not my second favorite is the Ontario model 1 . Use almost every day . Best 30 I ever spent !!!

Awesome knife and video. Just a FYI about Texas. They are legal there as well as switch blades. They just passed it a few months back. You can even have brass knuckles now. They sell these down there in gas stations lol. Happy new year and hope you get better soon.

All related ( some old and it was there time ) 1 old friend from high school … And my nieces mother In law both gone too soon ( they are in their 50’s ). Cancer and the other was suicide. What a crazy way to go . He was so loved too by those who knew him . Sad times indeed . Not to get too dark but if you are curious at all to the story , I’ll share it with you . It’s insane !!! @@tubes5150 thanks brother. Im sorry for your losses too mate. The funeral was nice but pretty tough too. His wife was also Japanese and not great at english so I felt obligated to help with the funeral and I was asked to do a big speach. He was such a beautiful person and everything I imagine a Samurai would be. I cant beleive he is gone. Jane was an amazing support through it all too, im extremely proud of her. She would join our iaido sword practice most the time and he gave her a display katana that she will always cherish. Certainly is a crazy world at the moment. I've lost a few friends to suicide over the years but the hardest one for me was my best mates brother. It was two weeks after his 21st bday and my mate and I were the last ones to see him, we were around 15 so oved 30 years ago. I visit his grave around once a year and pull the weeds there. Im happy to hear the story if you feel like having a chat mate. I hope your feeling better by the way.

One of these days we will find a way !!! Yeah so my buddy was at his mothers apartment. ( the apartment complex is about 10 minutes from me ). She lives on the 8th floor . Ok . So my buddy is there over the holidays . His pain in the ass Ex wife shows up threatening him with prison time for back child support . ( I don’t think my buddy was working ). So his ex is yelling at him , And his mother ( as she was trying to defend him ). Well I guess it just got too heated in there ….. My buddy said “ F This”!!! And pushed his way to the 8 story balcony , and just jumped . No hesitation. No warning . Just a flying leap of faith in front of his ex and his mother . ( I am still not sure where his kids were at the time ). I was so stunned to hear this ! He was a body builder and won numerous competitions. I believe he was still doing it . Guy was freakin huge !! Like the Incredible Hulk !! I never made it to the funeral . I was too sick still . Going to get checked again today for Covid . Now my granddaughter has it . I was watching her on Saturday night . Sunday comes she’s not feeling well . My daughter tested her and her husband .. Both tested positive. I gotta have it !! So right now I’m just checking my youtube comments while waiting for my youngest daughter to give me the Covid test . I might as well have it at this point !! I tested negative 2 times last week . Maybe it’s a false negative??? I’ll keep ya posted 🙏🙏🙏

The Jan 2022 SMKW catalog arrived late yesterday afternoon with Bear featured on pages 34-35. I decided to buy a larger one in purple for 20 bucks.

Man, nice knife. I'm from Canada, when I was 12 my parents brought me to Florida. I had like 200$ I had saved , paper route etc... I was in a mall and found a martial arts store, bought a sick dragon embossed butterfly knife. Spent 100$ on it back then '84. It was beautiful. I smuggled it back in my luggage , was my prized possession for years. Almost impossible to get balisongs in Canada. Have to know a guy who knows a guy lol. Same with auto's. I have a line on a couple socom elites, 400$ Canadian dollars, so 300usd. I say this because when balisongs come around just like auto's here in Canada you gotta snatch them up.

I think my buddy in high school tried to sell me one ( forget how much ).
And it was around that time period between 82-85 .
He wanted like $40 or $50 I think 🤔
Should of grabbed while I had the chance ( but I was lucky to have $5.00 on me back in the 80’s ) haha .

It is illegal to own automatic knives and balisongs in my state. However, people can still obtain them pretty easily thanks to the local flea markets and also the fact that most online knife dealers ship them to my state anyway.
Crazy laws all over .

Yeah the rules for each state are different but I think they are all the same when you get down to it .
As I said .. you could live anywhere and if you are out there doing something crazy , and you have a knife on you ( fixed - butterfly - pocket ), the cops are going to confiscate.
But if you are just doing your own thing , not bothering anybody, and you happen to have in your pocket , I think it’s ok to have .

It was the outsiders movie that made me want a switchblade.but they were unavailable.i got a balisong instead.at 1st glance I thought 2bit had a switchblade but nope.he was that fast at the balisong.also your knife with the ceracote.thats the finish lile knives put on the first blood knives.nice hat by the way!!

Awesome knife and video. Just a FYI about Texas. They are legal there as well as switch blades. They just passed it a few months back. You can even have brass knuckles now. They sell these down there in gas stations lol. Happy new year and hope you get better soon.

Today is the funeral of one of my best friends . He is Japanese and my iaido/kenjutsu sensei. He died from covid last week. I cant beleive he is gone.

He was so loved too by those who knew him .

The funeral was nice but pretty tough too. His wife was also Japanese and not great at english so I felt obligated to help with the funeral and I was asked to do a big speach. He was such a beautiful person and everything I imagine a Samurai would be. I cant beleive he is gone. Jane was an amazing support through it all too, im extremely proud of her. She would join our iaido sword practice most the time and he gave her a display katana that she will always cherish.
Certainly is a crazy world at the moment.
I've lost a few friends to suicide over the years but the hardest one for me was my best mates brother. It was two weeks after his 21st bday and my mate and I were the last ones to see him, we were around 15 so oved 30 years ago. I visit his grave around once a year and pull the weeds there.

Yeah so my buddy was at his mothers apartment.
( the apartment complex is about 10 minutes from me ).
She lives on the 8th floor .
Ok .
So my buddy is there over the holidays .
His pain in the ass Ex wife shows up threatening him with prison time for back child support .
( I don’t think my buddy was working ).
So his ex is yelling at him , And his mother ( as she was trying to defend him ).
Well I guess it just got too heated in there …..
My buddy said “ F This”!!! And pushed his way to the 8 story balcony , and just jumped .
No hesitation.
No warning .
Just a flying leap of faith in front of his ex and his mother .
( I am still not sure where his kids were at the time ).
I was so stunned to hear this !
He was a body builder and won numerous competitions.
I believe he was still doing it .
Guy was freakin huge !!
Like the Incredible Hulk !!
I never made it to the funeral .
I was too sick still .
Going to get checked again today for Covid .
Now my granddaughter has it .
I was watching her on Saturday night .
Sunday comes she’s not feeling well .
My daughter tested her and her husband ..
Both tested positive.
I gotta have it !!
So right now I’m just checking my youtube comments while waiting for my youngest daughter to give me the Covid test .
I might as well have it at this point !!
I tested negative 2 times last week .
Maybe it’s a false negative???
