What's even better about this tape? You can flip right after tuning the knife. No need to wait like locktide
You don’t have to wait for locktide
@@Ram-xs3hg yes you do lmao it takes 12 hours to set
FACTS! I hate waiting for loctite
@@Johns895 no it’s instant for me
@@Ram-xs3hg you using it wrong then lol
Big fan of this method! Don't have to wait for glue to dry, don't have to worry about extra glue getting where you don't want it, and easy to adjust if you don't get it just right.
Ok hear me out guys, im a mechanic and have been flipping for a bit now. Ive found if u have a little bit of play (handles move up and down) use a heavy motor oil to lube the pivot points. Its sounds crazy but i used 15w40 motor oil to lube my pivots instead of my regular lube and i guess the increased thickness of the oil takes up alot of that play like in an engine and its crank bearings. Call me crazy but it works!
You are crazy!
I'm totally going to try this out. 🙏
I had never heard of using teflon tape in balisongs. Thank you. I'll be trying some soon.
its a no brainer if you ever used teflon tape before you know what it does and if you know then you know this makes perfect sense!
I was sleeping on this method for pivot securing, but ironically had an ELB proflipper V1 that was not taking the loctite for some reason.
I'd remembered using the teflon tape for installing shower heads at an old job. It really works nicely, and the ELB now flips like a charm!
That wrist rest looks beautiful with the ingraved logo
super helpful, im gonna go teflon tape my bali now. im pretty sure i have some in my toolbox so i don't even need to go out and buy some.
Smooth as butter, thank you🙌
I didn't even know this was a thing! I should try this on a couple of my bali's that I have some trouble with getting the tolerances right.
Hi Will, I have a quick question:
Is there a good way to remove old teflon tape from your pivots? I’ve just sort of been picking it out with sewing needles/tweezer, and I also soaked the pivots in isopropyl alcohol which seemed to help.
As always, keep up the awesome content!
I'll sometimes take a small torx bit and put it in the pivot, then make an unscrewing motion that pulls out the stuff!
@@WillHirschFlips wow, that was quick. Thanks for the tip!
Oh
this is so big brain i cannot even comprehend
Thank you so much ever since i got this tape on it didn't got loose
I used this to tune out a
A LOT of play in my nabalis trainer sp I cpudp give to my friend since his balisong just broke recently, thanks man helped a lot
You should make one for the vulp too because i find the screws especially annoying to hold and twist during wrapping while keeping the teflon flat the whole time.
The mako's screws looks definitely easier to work with.
You mentioned that you’re going to make a video on knife lubes, I’ve personally been curious on the best approach to lubing bearing driven knives
Yes! That'll be in that video, but right now I'll tell you: buy Daiwa reel oil! It's an oil made for bearings in fishing reels and is my fav for bearings
@@WillHirschFlips I'm commenting here because I needed to find you so I can directly reply to you. I'm a big fan of Teflon tape as well there's a very unique brand of Teflon tape that I use and I think you should really try it out. Lowe's - home Depot has it. It's called Blue monster Teflon sealant tape. It's basically Teflon tape, but with its impregnated with like a dry pipe dope thread locker type of substance.
There's no dry time and there's no mess like it doesn't squeeze out of the tape once you tighten it but it actually really holds the pivots well and the thing is you only need about one or two wraps with this tape because of the thread sealant action. It's pricey for Teflon tape, $10 a roll. But if you like Teflon tape and yeah there are a few shortcomings with it and I know you know, this addresses them. 😉
@@WillHirschFlips this isn’t related but, does the Teflon have a little more give than the Loctite. I really want to give my nautilus the best tuning so I don’t have to do it as often.
I want that Keyboard 🥺 love you vids 😂❤️
Thank you for preaching the wonders of teflon tape, sir Will
Can you use electrical tape?
@@Attackthattitan i would also like to know
Appreciate the video helped me fix my 51 clone so it doesn't get loose after 5 seconds and now it has a hotter sound
Thanks!! It helped a lot with my mako!! The blue goo just wasn't enough!
This is great! I've ordered a BBbarfly and also got some teflon tape and was wondering what the best way to install it would be, thank you. I look forward to the oil video too. So far I've been using Victorinox multi tool oil.
Thank you so much for this video it helped me a lot!
just found out will has the same computer mouse as me, feeling very happy
I love using Teflon tape because I’m super fucking fidgety and can’t go like an hour without flipping one of my knives
fr, i just got a knew knife and tuned it and loctited it, and i'm going insane because I can't flip it, definitely going to do teflon from now one
I loooove using Teflon tape. Unless your using squid ti screws because you risk stripping them
That’s a sick keyboard!
Dang that keyboard is sick!
Thank you! I've been having trouble with thread locker, it just doesn't hold! My balisongs seem to start loosening up after just a couple of days. I'm definitely going to try this!
I've been having problems with locktite too, can I get an update on how this held up?
@@thatoneguy5191 so far, since I started using it, I haven't had any issues with the screws I've used it on loosening.
Thanks! I'm definitely doing this the then
U guys always did everything love u
dang here I was thinking I was on the next level using loctite gel...Thanks for the info! Into my amazon cart teflon tape goes
question, i just loctited my mako, i did a simple opening do you think that will mess with the loctite or will it be fine
@@derrickww4025 you’re fine! Takes awhile to cure so as long as you don’t keep messing it with you’ll be good. Just sit it for 24 hours and you’re good.
@@chrissasin thanks!!
This is my favorite method because the only balisong I have is my squidtrainer and I’m to impatient to let loctite dry
Teflon tape works pretty good… you should try the paracord method… you get 550 and remove the inner strands the sticky ones and put a small amount of it around the screws it does something amazing for the sound
Can u explain more detail on how to do wat u mean how to do that. I’m interested
@@grusive are you talking about the paracord?
That keyboard is beautiful
Ayyy thank you! Very proud of it. Real wood keycaps and lubed Boba U4T switches in there!
@@WillHirschFlips lol didn't know you were into customs. Nice!
Is it ok, and would you recommend also putting teflon tape on the screws in the handles?
very informative video thanks
lol I tried teflon tape just yesterday for the first time
Have you tried Loctite Quicktape 249? Is basically the teflon version of actual threadlocker. It starts as a gel type material that hardens over the course of the day, with no cure stage needed. I love it! Good luck. Loving the channel man. Pretty new subscriber here
They send all ubiquity wireless radio screws dabbed in this. It makes assembly a bit annoying but the shit works extremely well
Super helpful video!
my zen pins were falling out so i did this with them also and i didnt have problems
Will, have you tried to use teflon tape on the zen pins?
Thanks!
Learning so much from you and stoked on it. Loving the hobby so far and you got a lot to do with it! Can we talk about those fire wood grain keyboard caps tho?! :nails emoji:
can you make a video where you show us some of the best camera angles and ways to record balisongs with a phone
I'm fairly new to this hobby and I just got my TheOne Falcon after watching your video on AliExpress knives. Would I still need to loctite or teflon tape a bushings balisong?
Nahhh cuz it has bushings you can crank the screws if not all the way the nearly and it'll still flip fine
Yes you do. All screws on balisongs will come loose no matter if it’s on bushings, washers, or even bearings.
@@Sin10el especially knives with bearings, they cause a ton of micro vibrations and resonance in the handles and pivots. They are the wurst offenders after washer only pivots
Can you do the paracord technique in your balisong
I'll try it! It's less clean overall for sure though as it's hard to keep the thread from coming out around the screw. I suggest the teflon tape for sure!!
I have a screw that won't come off and is super tight. The screw isn't strip but it just won't come out no matter how hard I squeeze the balisong. Not sure if it's too much locktight or maybe I screwed it in an angle by accident. Any solution for that?
this is the way
Thanks man my Balisong was always coming loose after doing tricks especially fans it was annoying screwing them back in it was always scary if I stripped the screw do you know how to fix squeaking tho?
At man when’s your next upload iv been lovin all the content
does it help with tap and play or the only way to fix tap and play is sanding the oversized bushing?
Ever use permatex orange? I heard its good
I was just wondering if when you do flipping videos on this channel can you do some different tricks
Do you have to oil the knife after the Teflon taping process or is it not needed
You don't need to but I like to keep my knives oiled
Hey Will, great video. I have a question about taping knives that have four separate screws that go into the pivot. My Bbbarfly pro v3 has this and I’m not sure if I should tape all four screws. What should I do?
Do it if they come loose alot
@@gaNull Alright I’ll try it, thanks
So in your opinion, should I stop using loctite and start using teflon tape? Is it just objectively better?
I prefer the Teflon tape to loctite now!!
@@WillHirschFlips I'll mention it here briefly again, because I really feel it's imperative you try it
"Blue Monster Teflon thread sealant tape"
IT addresses the few shortcomings that Teflon tape has and only a few wraps are required one to two
Help me please so I just bought 3 g10 Nabalies and I’ve tried Loctite on the handles and with a few flips the handles want to fall off do you think this method will help
me I don’t have a lot of experience
hello i just bought balisong kraken v2.5 clone used it for a while then it crashed so can i ask your way to get rid of the tap problem, hope you can read got this comment, thanks for reading
This is great Will however I have a question. When it comes time to reapply the tape how would you clean the screws off or is it really needed? Does it junk up anything or is it just take off and reapply? I imagine that it won't have to be done often
Does anyone do this with smaller hardware like T8 screws and have any suggestions please? I feel like I'd need to be a fly tyer or an horologist to pull it off.
will this work with bushing balisongs like the arctic?
Is there a way to fix loose balisongs without loctite or teflon tape? Because my screws are always coming off and i dont have any loctite neither do i have teflon tape. I am wondering if i should use super glue as a last resort but i am unsure if it is safe to do so, thus i am hoping for approval or any other way to fix the loose screw.
Ty in advance
A very very small amount of super glue can work but you'd need to be careful
@@WillHirschFlips wow i didnt expect such a speedy response, like actually no joke
Which wiha screw and things would I get to tune my balisong?
How do strangers, or just random people react/think when they see you flipping?
What is the best lube for the plastic squiddy ??
TBH if you can avoid lubing it that's actually best, but otherwise, super lube!
Is that thing already breaking like the triton
Hey i might be late but what are the Effects of The after? (Pls reply)
How can i fix that the Blade is Not centered in the bite handle but in the Safe handle it is centered
Pro man 😎😍🍓
I do have a question, will/what other types of tape work with this method
Also could you also show how to do this with paracord too bc I have some laying around
Hey Jose it Wademercer23
Teflon tape is the best for sure as it's kinda made for this. The paracord meathod is pretty easy, you just cut it and then take all the little threads inside the paracord and put them under the screw while you screw it in. It's not as pretty but it works!
@@wademercer2357 sup dude!
@@WillHirschFlips ok thank you!
Exact what type of Teflon tape can I use?
Do you use the tape on your lucha too? I plan on keeping my lucha factory but hoping the tape works well with them?
What’s the best torx driver when Tightening the pivots
Wehaw
Wiha Drivers are the best! T10 for most Squid products
Ok thanks and happy new year
Do you remove the tape every time you clean your Balisong?
nice keyboard
If i don't care about waiting 24h for the loctite to dry, which is better for longevity? Teflon or Loctite? Cause i don't wanna do maintenance that often, i just wanna lock the screws and forget about it
Teflon, because loctite can actually break if force is applied (like if you drop the knife onto concrete) while Teflon tape does not break
@@WillHirschFlips woah that's great to know! Thank you so much!
@@inksword6029 so did u do it? How is it working?
@@xxxxxxx82736 used both teflon and loctite and both work well!
Will this work with the benchmade 51 if I have a lot of play/tap?
question: Is it easy to remove? As in with loctite blue it is pretty easy to remove, is this similar?
Teflone tape is way easier to remove
Very very easy to remove! It just makes the screw tighter, not locking it in like glue.
i have spinning pivots but squeesing dont help what do i do
can someone tell me when you need to replace it and put more?
Yo nice keyboard
thx bro❣️
Do you think a mako or a triton would be better from a beginners standpoint?
Triton. It's got a much better sound and flow
Idk what to say here cause I’m way early… Hi?
Sick keyboardf actually
Are you gonna do a collection vid 2021
Yes! I'm thinking of making 2, one on here that'll be my full collection and then the main one on the big channel that will be fully produced with jokes and stuff
@@WillHirschFlips sound awesome I can’t wait to watch
Is there any benefit over loctite?
Yes, Teflon tape won't break when you drop the knife while loctite can
Can I do this with my alphabeast ?
Hey will i already tried everything and my pivots are still spining do have any way to solve this
Do you mean they are loosening or you can't get them undone?
can i do this without opening my knife cuz i f@#ked my screws so bad...
The bottom screws on my balisong is coming off, how can I fix that?
If you have to remove the Teflon because an incorrect amount was used, do you have to take apart the balisong fully to clean it thoroughly? Or is it easier to clean/take out enough to just undo the screw?
You can just take it out and use a small thing like a toothpick to kinda pick out the excess. You don't have to clean it too much though! Most of the teflon stays on the screw so if you remove whats on there you'll be good
Hey will, can we use regular tape for the balisong? Thanks.
this method doesn’t work for me at all the 1st time i got tape stuck in the pivots and it didn’t flip at all 2nd time it didn’t work because i basically had to unscrew it for it to flip at all
I think ill just buy a cheap one cuz my problem with cheap knifes are the screws going loose but now because of this it will not go lose anymore
And i only buy new ones because i lose all my knifes
Have you ever done a chaplin on the wrong side of the blade?
Please help me tape is stuck in the pivot I can’t get it out
Hey will what do you do when you strip you’re screws on accident
if you are unable to buy a new set from the site you bought the bali from, take a very very small dab of hot glue in the stripped pivot and screw in your screw. That's in a pinch tho if you really need it/
i still have that click noise !
How do you recover from Squiddy Syndrome? Random question, but it’s so annoying. Help?
This is because I have the lucha, and it’s a hefty knife.
@@enviiuss just only flip the lucha until that becomes comfortable again, then slowly switch back and forth occasionally to get used to both.
Wat if you dont have teflon tape nor loctite 🤔
is this permanent?
