Couple notes and corrections to be made.
    3:47
This is technically the unintended way of dealing with this attack since he's supposed to dodge away from you as you airstep to him and counter with the rest of his attack. A tactic that is unceremoniously stopped by continuing to attack him. The way that many people, including me, think that the devs intended for you to dodge this attack is by dodge rolling through the 5th and 6th barrage of lasers before jumping and using Flash Step to close the distance and get an actual full combo without losing damage.
    4:07
There is actually an opening you can get from this attack that I feel not a lot of people know about. While he's running at you, you can cast fire to make him jump away. Do this 4 times, and he'll jump to the center of the arena in the same way he does after the fake out storm during phase 2. Like that attack, this is an opening.
    4:23
Hitting him makes no difference whether he moves on to the next attack or not, people just do it to pile on some extra damage.
    4:33
DON'T DO WHAT HE'S DOING HERE WITH THE WATERGA IF YOU'RE CAUGHT BY THE STEAL GRAB, IT WILL TRACK YOU, AND IT WILL FUCK YOU UP. Instead, try and lure the Waterga outside of the arena and get it to collide with the outer walls safely. From there, his attacks here are MUCH easier to dodge than one might think. You just get no openings because you don't have a keyblade. Though, for the keyblades that pop out of the ground at the end of the sequence, focus on running instead of dodging rapidly and only dodge when you see a bunch of red circles appear around Sora. That's you're actual cue to dodge. From there, the keyblade grab won't end up being a free win for Yozora, and instead it'll end up being more of a nuisance than anything.
    5:47
This "spray attack" can actually be countered by a well timed Thundaga, or basic attack when he appears. Just know that the attack is usually telegraphed by him completely dissappearing from the field for 2 seconds before he comes diving down at you.
    6:06
There's actually a better way of dealing with this attack that rewards you SIGNIFICANTLY more than just letting him dive at you again. After he slashes at the air, get up to his position, wait for the lasers to come by as usual, block them, then after the 3rd laser volly, REPRISAL instead of blocking again in order to hit him cleanly out of the 2nd dive attack and get a juicy Final Blow opening for massive damage.
    6:45
No, you're not screwed if you fail to thunder him at the 2nd pyramid trap. Just block his attacks like usual, then dodge the pyramid one last time before dealing with a fast attack like the 1st rush, only the follow-up afterwards is slightly delayed to throw off your guard timing. Don't fall for this and just delay your guard.
    7:19
There is an opening that you can get with this attack, though, in my opinion, it is the single most unreliable opening to get in the game. The way you get it is while he's firing the slow laser, make your way up to his location and block the laser from there, he will jump away and be open for damage. The reason why this is so unreliable is because this is EXTREMELY strict to get most of the time. Too late, and yoy won't be able to guard the laser when you air step to him unless you attack, then immediately guard to save yourself. And if you screw it up, you end up just dealing with the rest of the attack anyways, on top of being hit.
    8:43
You can actually hit him with an air dive during this attack for more damage if you set it up right because of how high up you end up being.
    9:05
For the fake-out attack, there are 3 major variations to it in total. In the DM, you only deal with 1 variation at random, and it’s important to stand still and pay attention to where he teleports to, as well as his animation after teleporting. If he appears to the left side while spinning in a circle, he will teleport in place 2 times before teleporting to the far right a 3rd time before attacking. After this, he will teleport in place again, then teleport to the left and attack.
Variation 2 has him quickly charge at you before fake out teleporting to attack you again with a flurry of attacks. From here, he always reappears with a fast flurry of attacks that you need to be ready to block.
Variation 3 has him crouch down before doing an upper slash. From there, he will do the same crouching motion 3-5 times in succession before offsetting his location slightly and lunging from there. Pay attention to when he offsets himself in order to know when to block/dodge.
    10:40
You actually have a crazy amount of time to get this opening after blocking the sword, like, 5 seconds tops. You really can just style on him, and still get the opening. It's laughably easy.
    10:48
This follow-up is actually deceptively easy to dodge if you know what you're doing. Dodge the unblockable shot, then simply block the clones as they come at you. You will be raised into the air and out of the way of the clones for a bit in an attempt to throw you off, but only guard when you aren't being raised in the air anymore. Afterwards, just guard for the next 5 seconds and you'll be fine.
    12:12
No. You are still able to hit him prematurely and force him to attack early for the opening, but you'll have to dodge the sword slash since it's unblockable.
    12:21
That's the unnecessarily hard way to dodge the attack. What people used to do (and still do from my experience) is block the physical hit from Yozora, immediately reprisal for the I-frames, then either mash to parry the follow-up dive attack for an opening, or if you're using Counter Kick, just simply profit because you'll hit him out of the dive with Counter Kick anyways and get a Final Blow follow-up.
    12:37
While yes, it is easy enough to simply block the attacks from this and be at no risk, there is a way to break his armor during this and get an opening. By blocking and countering between every 2 slashes, you can easily break his armor and get a free opening from it.
    12:53
This attack is where your knowledge of the fake outs during his DM truely comes into play. Though the attacks are exactly the same as the DM, he will cycle through all 3 major variations of the move in a random order, never repeating a major variation. For example, if he starts with what I described earlier as Variation 3, he won't be able to use it again for the rest of the barrage until the attack is fully completed. Also, typically after unleashing all 3 variations at you, he will teleport up in the air and do 1 last downward slash at you before flipping back down to the ground. This slash is easily avoidable and easily punished afterwards for a full combo.

@@hazzydahaka13 this is a very well thought out and excellently written set of tips! I’ll be pinning it so people get additional help! Thank you 😁😁
My style of fighting Yozora was heavily influenced by my PRO Codes run I did a few months back and watching WillJV2’s no damage level 1 video, so I do acknowledge there are some tweaks - surviving getting the keyblade stolen for example lmao - or additional openings where my methods can be improved on

    • @nickmcsleighten

so i went to test your tips and tricks, and for the most part they were awesome! i don't know where you got your info, assumedly watching others or testing yourself, but it was excellent
that said, I do have some thoughts to add on:
      1. it seems like for the dodge rolling through 5th and 6th laser is a good alternate way, what worked best for me was to dodge roll through them then just attack as Yozora fell since it was a pretty big window
      2. casting firaga 4 times to cancel the keyblade steal is awesome, but i think for most players is going to cause people to get caught more often than not, so i do defer to the tactic in the video; however more skilled players can definitely abuse this (also thank you for explaining how to survive actually getting the keyblade stolen, per my PRO Codes run I never developed a way to survive this cause it felt unnecessary but that doesn't excuse learning it now to help viewers; though in this case I do think prevention is the best option)
      3. so perhaps I'm seeing a pattern where there isn't one, but it did seem to me after the keyblade steal attack, Yozora would go into "barrage + sword throw" most of the time if not attacked, but not always, while it seemed it would *always* force him into it if I did attack
      4. casting thundaga pre-emptively on the spray attack is super cool, but I found your second tip much more reliable by retaliating after the third laser, very useful! 10/10
      5. I want to correct: it's not that people can't recover or continue from the drone attack, just that if you're not prepared to block immediately from missing thundaga, you will likely die and I should have specified how to deal with the move in its entirety - so that's on me
      6. I found a much more reliable way to get the long laser opening by air dodging towards Yozora, the laser missed me almost, if not, every time and then he'd jump back giving me the opening you mentioned
      7. i found the air dive consistently would miss, not impossible, but i felt it unnecessary to add to the guide since it rarely worked whereas using a thundaga if he was still around worked more consistently (also omitted because I figured it out after making the guide lmao)
      8. I believe your variations, but I didn't find them to be correct in my playthrough - I found his variations to be: fake out twice in front of me then teleport to the right to attack, teleport in front of me 3 times then attack on the fourth (fifth time in phase 2), appear on the right with a long pause then reappearing to attack on the left, and maybe that's what you're saying and I'm misunderstanding
      9. This is true about airstepping when blocking his sword in the dm, but it is still missable if you block the clones for too long
      10. fantastic tip about how to survive his clones barrage after failing the block
      11. agreed, its not that its impossible, just that for lower skill levels I opted to say to just avoid this bait for the sake of safety
      12. great tip about blocking and using reprisal i-frames, I just straight up didn't know this
      13. I also didn't know about the reprisal for removing his multi slash armor attack, since it's such a simple attack to guard against, I think this would've been a great tip for me to add in the video itself
      14. like I said with the fake outs, the only difference I see here is sometimes he'll fake out four times then attack at the fifth, but otherwise I feel what I said is correct; but excellent knowledge that he can't repeat one of his moves - I wish I had known that too
Like I said, I'm keeping this pinned because it is incredibly useful to others, but I figured since you went through the time to fill in my gaps, I'd respond to fill in any of yours and really take the time to say thank you for such a great, helpful comment

Wow man, this guide was the missing puzzle piece I needed. I got some great tips not in older guides, which for some reason don’t show the entire moveset/punishes. You didn’t show how to deal with keyblade steal but let’s be honest, it’s a run killer, like not being able to heal with Lingering Will.
With Ariel I more or less have his DM down. I’m playing on critical and have come too far to stop now. Wish me luck.

@@nickmcsleighten No problem about not covering keyblade steal! I give up the run as well, I liked your honesty in the vid haha. Doesn’t happen too often anyway, it’s an easy attack to predict.
I’m getting better, I’ll comment when I beat him. I actually like that he can do his DM immediately because it lets me practice it as well as his blue attacks afterward. Xion, Vanitas, and Master Xehanort have insane DMs that made me WISH they sometimes do it at the beginning so I can get the timing down.

@@wildweasel4633 evidently you can cancel the keyblade steal by shooting firagas when he runs at you - ive tried it and it works - but man is it hard to get down lol

I’m excited to see how Yozora and Stella fit into Kingdom Hearts, considering they were more or less a beta version of FF15 characters. It’s cool to see Nomura still wants to do realism and cityscapes. I laughed out loud when I finally beat him and in flashy letters it said “Voiced by Dylan Sprouse”. “One of the suite life of Zack and Cody twins?!” lol
