I would give anything to go back and live in this time. Fuck the internet, fuck Facebook, fuck twitter and fuck smart phones. If you wasn't around back then you don't know what you missed.
All fax.
🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾
I agree 💯 on that!
Missed out on a bunch of racism and crack and AIDS
Great upload thank you so much .
Today Homeboys from L.A to San Jose STILL listen to Oldies!
Yup
Don’t matter if you from LA or San jo ,,,,, you Chicano oldies lives through you cuz it is you aka US ....(RAZA).
Also from Phoenix to Vegas to Albuquerque to El Paso, southern Colorado, San Antonio, Dallas and Austin!
Oldies as in black music yes Hispanics have always played black music
@@loyal2thesoil412oldies is black music lol but aight just like rap
F*cking Dancin' Dan's hair was immaculate when he was sitting in that hospital bed
This is my favorite chicano documentary, and its very special to me because I got a friend from Oakland Paulo "Dopey" R.I.P.He grow up and the 80s and the infamous Big Barrio 60s Many memories good times and bad times.
Thanks for the documentary
I want to thank the mother for loving there sons and God bless you my son was killed at age 14 my hurt is broken God bless you and thank God always
Seems like there is some footage clipped between parts 3 and 4. I'd like to see this in its entirety. Great documentary.
I went to Fremont high in the middle of mex and black gang territory and I can tell you without a doubt the only difference was skin color. This was 1990. They went thru the same things from being killed in high school to having babies . Full circle you can say death to birth all being decided by kids. I was a school one day walking by the auto shop in the back of the school where it's quite. Except this day I saw a mex dude who I know was a gang member who was tuff name I think victor and a black dude name deion who was tuff squared up and ready to fight but they didn't for whatever reason . Within a year the mex was killed by a gun within 2 yrs the black was killed by a gun. Both these guys were leaders and thinkers and were not bullies . The impact they could have had on there families will never be known. The black deion was a rapper from black dynasty and was the person who made up the word deep east oakland who I hear news reporters even saying deep east oakland when reporting a story.
These parents are letting their kids run the show. I don't care if my son had to be a hermit, he would not be staying out until all hours with a gang. Stop with the passive shit. If you can't handle parenting your kids, don't have any. "Praying for their safety" doesn't cut it. If they can't play by your rules, find somewhere else to live. Enabling this behavior is NOT okay. #realtalk

right now no where no one carries it i found it because i'm a historian and i met the director and he let me have a copy i'm tinking of putting it on dvd and selling it to a few homeboys ....
Where the copy at then?
Never heard of gangs or drugs growing up . I was 15 years old when this was filmed . I am not a hater . We all lived different lives .
They look old af at the time they were bearly 16 or 17 haha
Megatron cK they do i thought one of em was 21
I trip out to ! back then people look thirty n shit
That's because it was a different time. It was more harder in kids
grow up faster back then in the 80s and 90s and it was a different time. You can if you are 17 or 16 or even 18 you can get a house and
move out now people move out their parents when they're like down there 40 LOL I'm pretty sure your mom was Young when she had you in the 80s or 90s if you
are in your 30s or 20s how old was she I'm pretty sure she was young when she had you she was probably 20 or 19 now you're starting seeing people have kids later because people have a hard
.time moving out cuz s*** is so expensive now another reason why people actually look very age or younger is that as hard as it was back then and everybody
.wants to be kids nowadays and not grow the f****** up when someone turn 17 16 or 18 do you actually left the nest or got kicked. out I would days you got teenagers actually being babied and being treated like children until there down there 30 40 do you have rich person gets baby till they're like 18 or 19 wonder why a lot of people act like children LOL
You're an idiot!
That’s why they say “when you were 16 i was 27”
Before Norte and sureño beef. Those were the days
I am willing to buy a copy !!
Both These 16 n 17 year olds look older than me n im 32 😂
i lot of dudes in the bay still listen to oldies but a lot of these youngsters would rather listen to rap and others styles of music . me personally i have a lot of the old school bay area chicano bands like santana malo azteca sapo tower of power etc ....
Im a youngin thay was raised around REAL MUSIC 60s-80s music
Someone knows the name of the song 9:41
Hi I'm trying to get a hold of people from the rolling 60"s oakland I've been trying for year to contact Lee (mama Lee carroll or some who nows her or if she's still around she did a documentary like the one she was in back in the 80's on 38th an 96's loc's I met her at a program I was sent too by the courts if you can help out in anyway truly appreciate it
SHE'S DEAD , TWINKIE I READ IN ONE 9F THE COMMENTS IT GAVE A LIST OF ALOT OF THEM .TS PART OF LIFE I DIDN'T KNOW THEM BUT THE STORY SEEMED FIRME. IT BROUGHT MEMORIES OF MY NONSENSE IM FROM THE 80S MYSELF GANGBANGING BUT ITS THE PAST NOW. ATLEAST YOU KNOW I WAS INTERESTED IN HER LIKE THICK WOMAN BUT UNFORTUNATELY IM LATE RIP MAMA LEE
It's crazy thinking about how this was 35 years ago!. I'm glad the camera was invented for reasons like this. Even though they were brainwashed into criminality, this basically shows you there side, and that's what a camera can do...
where can i get this video?
Anybody know the name of the song at 4:36? When Bean is let out of court?
1 year later and I was finally able to answer my own damn question lmfao It’s called Mony Mony - Tommy James & The Shondells

The song the PARKIN brothers are singing in the end is a real song by the INTRUDERs call " I Always Love My Mama"
i know a few of these guys.Dancer Dan passed away a few years ago
I'm latino born and raised in San Diego but more in to gothic/industrial type music but this video is cool for a kid of 16🤪
did you not have east side stories up in Oakland at that time? just wondering.
Yes LA oldies was rocking back then and still till this day , I’m from Oakland grew in this era and I grew up on the EAST SIDE STORIES. , thinking it was from Oakland cuz East side Oakland is what I claimed.
I grew up in this era, not from Oakland but the South Bay & when it came to music, that was all that was available during that time were the EAST SIDE STORIES vol 1 thru 7, 8-12 came out a couple yrs later & the OLDIES BUT GOODIES compilation which is now Art Loboe’s Oldies, all those were available on vinyl & cassettes, also on 8 tracks but 8 tracks were already disappearing in 1982 & oldie singles on 45 records were you can buy those at the Flea Markets or the record stores & make your own cassettes, that was all we had back in those days & plus we had KYA am radio that played nothing but oldie but goodies in the Bay Area, that was all we had back then for oldies & as you can see, we made it work with no complaints. Those were the good days, good times for us, minus the gang violence!
love this kind of music, what song is playing at 9:47?
Frankie vallie and the four seasons
Imagine being a 12yr old kid from North Oakland & visit your family in East Oakland, then having to walk pass their house. I'm not going to lie I was scared! But the whole Parkin family embrace me with Love. Carlos A.K.A nickname me vulture RIP Danny & Carlos ❤️✊🏿 65th Love
Slot of shit ain’t change in Oakland and that’s crazy for me to see the older generation explain this real shit
It's now 2019.. where's bean at now?
Those lowriders are freaking sexy ass machines!
Canales, Martinez 65th village and RIP To Lawrence Martinez and Rey Canales

Are the 60's still around in Oakland? Also what's the name of the neighborhood who killed Bean's brother? What clique was that Philippino guy from who said Bean shot at him? Bean seemed to think the Asian guy was connected to his brothers murderer. Which neighborhood had beef with the 60's back then and are the guys who killed Bean's brother still around?

varrio life is nothin but a sad story of lost lives, they should make a dvd about old gangs in LOS ANGELES theres lots of stories there...
@ozulu45 this isnt a documetary about puerto ricans, its about chicano gangs.
@ozulu45 thats not the Quarter pounder on 81st ave thats the old school Quarter pounder on 37th ave and E14th st it was there for hella years they closed it in like 2003 now it's called la Costa . back then the Fruitvale district was the cruising spot for lowriders every one would meet at quarter pounder or at the Taco Truck on 29th ave or at the Jack in the Box on 25th ave they did it till the early 200s then it died out .
The Taco truck on 29th ave was my favorite one.
Are you talking to me or do you mean these Haters on here who never grew up in the Barrio or Hood but yet talk out there ass about Things they will never understand. i Grew up in Oakland and my Mom went through the same thing Mrs Parkin went through she raised us as best she could. but still my older brothers got into Gangs and Drugs and there was little she could have done so i understand 100 percent what your Grandmother went through. there are lots of Suburban idiots that will never understan

Where Is her husband??? This is called CHUSMA
Ana G shut up Ana and you have no business to open your mouth about that woman

Typo! Their
sad storys
vicodin75 . why do surenos listen to oldies aren't they exctremly racist against blacks . the majority of oldies singers are black and i taught you have something against black music . oldies is blacks music r&b soul back in the 50s and 60s it was considered black music . even famous chicanos musicians say that there biggest influences were black blues players and black roc n rool and r&b singers .
@PSTA Make that San Diego to San Jose, fuckin homies make me laugh when they bust out the oldies cds and shit hahahha
@Gold3nStat3KiD also you got to remember a lot of gangs back then banded together to protect them selves from Black white and even asian gangs like seen in this documentary so there was more of a sense of brotherhood back then now it's all guns and drugs . a lot of times members of the same gang kill each other over money or drugs or other petty bullshit .
Also another Mexican gangs did you not see the whole documentary it’s just Turf violence not race based
Oraleeee,
I remember the v.60's. i grew up around the v.96th locos xiv around this time and I'm one of the founders of the v.94th Locotes.
But it's all God and love for all my Raza now,no more Chicano on Chicano killings! Viva la Raza!!👊🏽
V.94th locos got established around 1987-88 and it actually started as a Norteño gang from the beginning to later becoming a Border Brother gang.
V.94th is no longer active on the streets to my knowledge but the v.94th OGs still call shot for other BB klicks in these areas.
But like I said carnal no more Raza killing and I’m a peace keeper for the lord now.much love bro.
The switch was due to Facilitating the drug flow from Mexico to North Cali.
Border Brothers from the L.A area/T.J hooked up with A Big Gingletown Boss and a 94th Shot caller to make the connection.it involved v.94th,DFL and Gingletown,Gingletown dropping out later and going back to claiming Norte.
All this happened in the 1990s.
I usually don’t give out info carnal but I do it so people can get an understanding of the truth. The “Gangs in Oakland show on the discovery channel bb kids” was puro pedo and had nothing to do with the real onda.
Manny Ramirez what is the name of the song at 9:05 big homie porfas?
Diego Aguilar (walk like a man) by the four seasons carnal.
East Bay 925 X4 Gingletown is one of The oldest Norte gangs, also E15th-38th locos and 41st cycos (no longer active)
But before all this there where Pachuco klicas in west Oakland off 7st and Peralta/back in the 1940s-50s
9:58 that's all our jefitas right? I love you momma....
oh yea Dancer Dan passed away how did he go of natural causes or did the streets get him ....
that dude god of hell fire got killed interesting was it over gang shit or drugs . what was he a chicano or something else he kinda looked puerto rican or half black and mexican ...
Watch out, we have a net banger here folks.
@Lv supervisor Power1 English keyboard warrior...
Do you think they was swanging it back then ?
Possibly the first time I remember someone swinging it in East Oakland was like 1988 I seen a dude swing a 1964 Mustang at a Parking lot in the Dubs.
This a cool docu..the Mexicans... with black gang members..cool from same gang ....👍

I was in east oakland during that same time. Always loved the Mexican (we didn't call them hispanics back then) chicks. So gorgeous, and so.... man, they had absolutely zero time for a zero white guy. Great people though, and it's a shame what has happened since. Those mexican parents were awesome and just wanted what was best for their children. Just wasn't in the cards for so many of them.
What?..... I barely understood what you posted
pretty sad but at least he passed of natural causes and not at the bullet of some pendejo . incredible that he made it out of these crazy streets and lived to be an older man cuz his homies didn't even make it to there 20s ....
Living in East Oakland I remember these days cuz of my final school year but I dropped out was 82 I knew a lot of these club and even when I was in junior high used to get heat from the black side for hanging out with the Latins I live in the far up in the MacArthur area which was away from the 14 area XIV I had to walk down the street on 38th and hit 14 went to School Hamilton Junior High then eventually Fremont a lot of the gang members went there as well I rather call them the street soldiers of that time young people born and situations in big cities and urban areas fight for the definition of respect and freedom as they understand it and the fight goes on wrong or right in a nation that both congratulate and then later betray you some people don't agree with those thoughts but unfortunately is true all over the world being an artist and living through that era I saw the bigger picture the future most of the Chicanos and the blacks thought I was crazy even call me Spaceman which was fine with me long as I got along with everybody because I knew it doesn't make any difference the next generation will come along with a new fight for their right and we if we're still around probably won't like it and the worst part it could be our kids
