I love how they are very American and very Mexican at the same time.
Alejandro Moreno for realz bro
Old cowboy movies man
What do you mean?
I agree, very cool.
@@tractordriver8950 Football, Mariachis, tortillas, bread, American cars,Mexican music, classic american be bop, American customs, Mexican Traditions...all go hand in hand. A beautiful thing brotha!
it's crazy how these moms knew english very well.
nowadays at a mexican family gathering, not a single adult knows english. lmao
The parents have dum down bro my mom cant speak shit been here for 35 years
+Jorge Ruelas half of you dumb foo can't speak Spanish
This is cali, smart. .. they had generations of family's from cali not like the rest of us. Some of us barely on the first generation .
@Aldo Htownsouth Spanish wasn’t even our language to begin with. If u wanna go way back to when America won part of Mexico why not go as far back as to when the Spaniard invaded Mexico and brought they’re language and religion to us. Most Mexicans love and pray to Jesus and the Virgin Mary when that wasn’t out religion to begin with. So we can argue that Mexico was stolen from English settlers but us Mexicans pretty much follow what was brought to us from others that invaded our land
Well vatos back in the day u have to knew how to communicate but now every where u go we have translators
I haven't seen this video since 1982. RIP Tia Olivia. I remember going to visit Jorge at hospital when he got shot, and going to Jerry's funerual. This video brings back memories of visiting the familia on 63rd street. Only person I bumped into was little Micheal in Hayward, at a softball. I was glad to hear he was doing very good. Hope the rest of the familia are well and healthy, god bless them.
The Parkin family was always family oriented. Mrs.Parkin passed away a few years after filming this documentary. Jimmy Parkin passed away a few years ago. Mr.Parkin & Danny "Dancin Dan" passed away in2007. Let the world know that they may have not lived perfect lives way back in the day. But their life story is an example that we all can live and learn. Let the struggles be our strength in striving to the top of the ladder. Which holds TRUTH to the way they live their lives today.R.I.P DAD&D-DOE
jenzamama how do. You know all this ???
Thanks for the update. I remember we were going to fight with that family, one of the brothers came out to talk to us. What he said made a lot of since about the hurt and damage we would to both sides. This was in 79-80. I was young but I could see in his eyes he meant what he said and I felt he knew the pain we all would feel if we acted. Carlos was kind of an actor but his older brother (I can’t remember his name). Actually calmed the whole situation down. I actually stood on his side for peace. On there later he sold me a 12 inch shot gun. LoL

Never heard of gangs and drugs growing up. Grew up in Upstate NY . I’m not a hater we all lived different lives . Thank you for the upload
@MrTierra68 actually many Chicano Families from Tejas New Mexico and Colorado came to the Bay Area before the 50s during World War 2 to work in the Ship yards and war Industry Jobs that where available in the Bay area Mainly Oakland and Richmond . also many came because they where in the Military and the Bay area was the Hub of the Military in the west Coast back then .
Si mon my grandparents came from New Mexico lived on heaven court projects , across from the 65 vill where the parkins where from then they moved to 6duce Hayes st. Seminary , the Montoya’s is my family then down the block was Romero, then the Reyes, I went to school with Michael parkins and Darlene new frog and Carlos parkins .
its funny how i used to were my hat like that but i was punk and i had 818 or wasted youth crew
It's been 32 yrs and the shit has gotten worst . Oakland is a curse .
No more gangs and u know it
There are no more gangs except for the KKK, allumanti

actually PLAYBOYLOKS2200 the first mexican gangs in oakland where started back in the 1940s and 50s in west and east oakland back when there where pachucos zoot suiters i know the oldest in east oakland was e15th and 23rd and jingletown they also had some pachuco gangs in west oakland back then .. they used to mostly sell heroin and fight sailors and whiteboy gangs back then i met an og pachuco from oakland hes like 90 years old he told me about how it was...
is this where Duke of Earl that Victory Outreach Movie came from? tokers town
No, this is East Oakland. Northern Cali. Duke of Earl was good tho.
sammyd2700 bro i know the history of jingletown i grew up near there on e7th and also on chapman st it used to be a portuguese hood and there where actually portuguese pachucos in jt in the 40s and 50s i met an og who told me your right mexicans started moving in to jt in the 50s 60s and 70s .....
2nd time I watched this doc, great freaking film! Thanks 2 homie for uploading it! Much appreciated.
Loved the football game in this part, solid shit right there yo. And the traditional Mexicano dancing at the very beginning was legit asf. Im a white boy, but I love that shit, not gonna lie.
Hi I'm trying to get a hold of people from the rolling 60"s oakland I've been trying for year to contact Lee (mama Lee carroll or some who nows her or if she's still around she did a documentary like the one she was in back in the 80's on 38th an 96's loc's I met her at a program I was sent too by the courts if you can help out in anyway truly appreciate it
whats up with all the heavy breathing at the end of the clip lol
I like how they dress Chicano style now they dress and talk black not my style
nicholas Ramos Yep, They’re all sellouts now
Chicano style gets you shot now
Agreed.🇲🇽
Thats modern North Siders for your
Shame, shame.
I like how they would rather play a game of football then beat the ever loving hell out of each other over a disagreement...i like the idea of the football game because most gang members would rather just shoot first and not care about who they hit in the presence as long as someone got hit...but as most of you out there know (Bullets don't have no names)
Mrs.Parkin is a nice lady. She is my favorite person in the documentary.
@Nevada13xFAMILIA yea there old and when did i ever say i was a youngster . i'm old 2 .

You’ll never see hoods play sports to try and settle they’re differences nowadays lol never

You right my mom's use to tell me. That's where she was raised and when I was born at the old a Oakland hospital. We grew up in the E.S.O. It's crazy she went to Mclymonds high. Thanks for putting the documentary on UA-cam. It took me back and felt nostalgic. Peace
@bago510 amen to that
ha ha we tryed that b4 didnt work out the way tha community center planned it it was just a big ass fight ha ha
Who ever is dubbing this tape was moaning at the end
nothing new!
Passive, weak parenting. These kids deserve better. How many of these guys are dead or in prison? How many people did they kill while mommy was letting them stay out past midnight? Not in my house. This is why you don't let the kids run the show. It's like the moms are scared of their own sons!
Unlike your other reply, I won’t be so ignorant but I’m a great example and I know plenty more kids that had great parenting and still fucked up. It’s always up to the kid and if they want to fuck up, they will
@@migslist909 facts!
Crazy how the mom essentially frees them up to potentially commit a future crime against the phillipino kid. "Just apologize to him now, so if anything happens to him in the future, they won't blame you, you understand what I'm say?" Her children were shit, and she most definitely enabled them. Sadly nothing has changed in east L.A. and its 2024. 😂
vicodin75 you idiots arealways saying that nortenos are in the wrong bercause there cool with blacks . well surenos are even more in the wrong there cool with aryan nazi white priders . the same fools that say fuck raza . bro i'll be cool with a black . before i'm cool with any nastyass nazi aryan piece of shit ....
