- "The Foggy Dew" is an Irish patriotic song about the 1916 Easter Rising in Dublin. It was written by Father Charles O'Neill of Portglegone and composed from a manuscript belonging to Kathleen Dallat. It takes the tune of the traditional love song "The Moorlough Shore".
The song pays homage and glory to the insurgents of 1916 by briefly retracing the course of events, while inserting contextual elements of the time, in particular the Great War, which had mobilized many Irish people.
This version is performed by the group "Wolfe Tones" which takes its name from an influential Irish Nationalist of the 18th century: Theobald Wolfe Stone.
