Heard from an Architect that concrete actually wants moisture during curing to prevent cracks. He even suggested to wet the concrete after the set time until fully hardened.
Looks great. Try using a very thin coat of transmission fluid as a releasing agent on the melamine. Has worked well in the past and haven't seen any staining on the concrete from it.
They have this crazy thing out there that saves the whole grinding off every 2” screw. It’s crazy, totally progressive, I know. But you can actually buy ... shorter screws. Who knew.
I hate to be that guy, but, concrete can explode if heated to a high enough temperature. Although considering how small that "pit" is, I doubt you have anything to worry about.
My favorite part of the video.... John: due to their skillset, they built chairs (Jordan from the door): hey you got a lighter? John: the f**k you need a lighter for?! Lmfao I laughed so hard at that I shot gatorade out my nose.
You made a slab without any tensile reinforcement (wire mesh and, maybe, fiber reinforcement) and 90 degree, crisp, inside corners. It is going to crack. Probably the first time it has the fire burning. For concrete, either glass fiber reinforce or use reinforcing steel and never, ever have an internal angle, only smooth internal edges. Avoid the stress risers on brittle materials!
