#restoration #asmr Hello my dear friends. It's great to see you here again. This story of mine is about a retro, vintage lamp. I have been looking for a contortionist lamp suitable for my lathe and workshop for a long time, and of course I was looking for a vintage or antique lamp. Orange and green, which are considered retro, are two of my favorite colors. That's why I chose this one among the lamps given to me as a gift. This lamp was used on a lathe in another workshop for many years. I worked to achieve a look that bears the traces of the past and fits my workshop. I achieved a result with my aesthetic perception and beauty philosophy, by prioritizing functionality as in my usual works. We will watch together many craft works and I want to leave this trace here, just as this craftsman spent his few days in the workshop. I do not record how-to videos. If you have any questions, please ask, I am always happy to answer. Also share your thoughts and different approaches, I would love to listen. I hope this work will be a good accompaniment to your time while drinking your coffee or a glass of whiskey. Anyone else get "vampire meets tool restorer vibes" from these videos? I imagine an old tool maker being transformed into a vampire in the 1700s. Instead of traveling the world, feeding on the blood of his victims, he restores things.. his workshop still unchanged after centuries. Such patience and slow deliberate movements can only come from the hands of an immortal doomed to restore things for eternity.
Appreciate the idea of keeping peeling paint parts with the bluing method. Beautiful lamp with orange color atmosphere, what a classical painting visual! Thank you very much!
Yet another half-an-hour I'm glad to not have back. Your videos make time fly. You do what's needed for your works; nothing more, nothing less. And like everyone posting below, it is much appriciated. While your four-footed apprentices may slow the process, at least they make up for it in cute.

There’s so much to enjoy here good man, a feast for my workshop ears - the hollow clunk of small nuts in a terracotta pot. File’s familiar song, a surprise visit with mandarin orange, a rain spell and the twang of brushed springs. The second time, I listened with eyes shut recalling the narrative by ear. Right through to the closing light-switch click,leaving open fire orange to crackle.
1st time watcher...Thank you for NOT media blasting, powder coating, and replacing every part and calling it a restoration. You cleaned it, fixed it, and reassembled it. Perfect.

Hello my friend, once again a very nice video with the old lamp. I also have a lamp like this and it does its job. It is cared for because it hardly exists anymore. If you own these old things, you have something for life because they last a lot longer than these newfangled things. Best wishes in anticipation of your next video
Awesome! I was given a few similar but newer and not that nice lamps when i was picking up the "new" late for my home workshop, i think some of them would come in handy as mahine lamps like this.

How you kept track of all the parts of that lamp is impressive! Those shop cats are the best! I keep trying to guess where in the world you live and work. Maybe someday you'll us somthing about the ancient building where you work. Thanks always; this is better than Netflix. :)

Carefully breathing a little bit of life into a used and worn object with the intended purpose of its future use has its rewards. Perhaps this is why I enjoy watching projects like these. So much to say and so little time. Your workshop "foreman" certainly was eyeing the quality of what you were putting into your new piece!!! Seems they all have an idea of what should be done and love watching you do it!! I know I am guilty of that as well. I love Art Deco, Retro and 1890's styles. Eclectic is best as you don't get bored with using or looking at the same thing all the time. Wonderful restoration and so happy to see you post a new piece. :)
Excellent restoration, done as it needed to be, I see quality control was on the job again, and two of them, they looked pretty intense, in fact, it sounded like I heard one them running their contentment motors (purring) during the restoration, not sure though, might have been something else coming thru the sound, but it wouldn’t have surprised me though, it was a nice job. Thanks for the video, appreciate your time and effort.
Another wonderful restoration completed, meaning yet another useful item of beauty saved. I am beginning to notice that you have one very keen to please and learn apprentice, but sadly you also have a lazy, disinterested one too. I should take the black and white apprentice on full time, as they have such nimble paws, and such a keenness to learn. The other is perhaps more interested in nature? Until next time…👍🏻😻😻

O.H. it's always good to see another video of yours.. This video was particularly of interest since I had a light exactly like the one that you restored... The only difference was that mine was newer and had less metal in it... The base of yours that you threaded, well, mine was hollow.. Just shows how cheap things have gotten over the years... O.H. You do a wonderful job of creating an atmosphere. This is directorial talent. It is curious that the electrical plug without grounding that you used is completely identical to the Soviet one from about the seventies of the last century. I have probably a dozen or two of these in my garage, in boxes of old junk. Actually, the lamp itself differs from the Soviet one of that period only in the different design of the lamp socket.
You have excellent taste in literature, Nikos Kazantzakis was an excellent author. A great preservation of a beautiful lamp, though not quite as beautiful as your companion or the area where you live. I would like to visit one day, so I could see the many historical landmarks. I'd also like to see if, "the moonlight on the Bosphorus is irresistible", as a great Cold War spy once described it.

The only difference was that mine was newer and had less metal in it... The base of yours that you threaded, well, mine was hollow.. Just shows how cheap things have gotten over the years...

It is curious that the electrical plug without grounding that you used is completely identical to the Soviet one from about the seventies of the last century. I have probably a dozen or two of these in my garage, in boxes of old junk. Actually, the lamp itself differs from the Soviet one of that period only in the different design of the lamp socket.

You have excellent taste in literature, Nikos Kazantzakis was an excellent author. A great preservation of a beautiful lamp, though not quite as beautiful as your companion or the area where you live. I would like to visit one day, so I could see the many historical landmarks. I'd also like to see if, "the moonlight on the Bosphorus is irresistible", as a great Cold War spy once described it.

Ho lavorato una intera vita nel mondo dei computer, dei sistemi informativi e dell'elettronica ed ora, raggiunta la pensione mi sto dedicando al recupero di vecchi strumenti di lavoro di mio nonno e di mio padre.
