THANK YOU! My son broke this part on the S109G after two days (many crashes). The four blades were badly nicked, so I was going to order those, when I took this apart, the two pieces of broken plastic pin broke off. Thanks so much for saving me more frustration in fixing this.
I have one of these S107 helicopters that had been left in a cupboard 2 years because it as completely uncontrolable after a hard crash. Examining it carefully in the top rotor area, I found it had exactly the fault you describe here in the video - broken lugs on the top plastic drive shaft. Once I realised what the fault was, I realised I could repair the shaft with some tiny screws I had in a glasses repair kit. I used a hot needle in a holder to make small holes at the centre of the sheered off lugs, and then screwed in small, self tapper screws. These took the place of the broken off lugs and fitted the recesses in the rotor/gyro plates pretty well. Once the repair was done, the helicopter behaved pretty well and was controllable and now has a new lease of life. The only fault is a small out of balance effect which causes the hovering heli to hover in a circle ,not stay exactly still in the air, but to wander slightly. The nose points forward, but the whole body wanders in this little circle. Perfectly flyable though. I think the newer version of this toy helicopter will be less likely to break the lugs off than the s107, because it has a power cut off when it crashes, so no more thrashing on the floor when an inexperienced users leaves the throttle wide open.
The problem was exactly as you described. Helicopter repaired this morning & it's flying perfectly now. i've now ordered 3 more Top Rotor heads, just in case.Thank you very much for taking the time to do the the video, it's invaluable!
Thanks! My 107G was wobbling a little after a crash, it was till flyable though. After watching your video I took it apart and found only one of the tabs was broke on this shaft. Thanks for taking the time to post this video!
Thanks for your video. It helped me to replace the little part which keep the heli in balance. I only fixed all parts and the rotors and then I put the complete set on to the main shaft. My heli flies now as it did when I just bought it. Thanks a lot. Johan.
I can't thank you enough for posting this video. Mine's all working again now thanks to your instructions. The only other thing to say was about when replacing the blades to remember that they have to be fitted in the opposite direction to the base blades of you're replacing them with new ones. Other than that a really helpful guide.
Great video - Thanks!!! I was back in the air in ten minutes after I got the parts kit I bought on ebay and watched your video for help to change the hub.
had the same problem! Thanks very much for making this video - before I saw it I thought I was going to have to take whole heli apart to replace the whole main shaft, but you showed me how to replace the rotor only.
This was very helpful indeed. Thank you so much! After I watched your video, I stripped mine down and discovered exactly the same problem as shown on your video.
thanks mate. you helped me fix mine too with these parts - Syma S107 S107G Gyro Helicopter Top Blade Grip Set and SYMA S107G Main Shaft Syma Spare Parts S107G-13 UK
Thank you for the instruction. I used it to fix my Cobra X107 mini helecopter. Parts are essentially the same. Parts from Cobratoys were crazy expensive. Got the parts on Amazon (Syma 107G) and they fit just fine. Cost me $2.99 US with free shipping.
I just finished repairing one of these. I discovered it accidentally rebalancing the balancing bar. Both pins broke off. I took my dremel tool and bored through the main piece partially from both sides at the point where the pins broke off with a diamond point. Then by hand I used a 1/16th drill bit (broken tip hex drive) and slowly twisting back and forth drilled completely through without any problems. Zero room for error. Since the bit was already broken I pushed it all the way far enough to cut off both ends and leave the remaining as the new pin replacement. Well that looked good but was not that simple. I could not put the rotor back on because the copter drive shaft goes through this piece. I had to take my new pin back out and cut it in two. I cut the pin put everything back together and it will never break there again. That's hardened steel. Next day here I am watching your video. Yesterday I couldn't find anything on the topic. It's great you made this video because that break point is easy to overlook if you have never taken one of these apart. Nice Job.
You rock. I know nothing about RC helicopters, but I thought something was amiss with the top blade... I just didn't know what it was. Also, thank you for explaining things via voice, rather than by annotations and playing some kind of crappy music.
Thank you, finally confirmed my suspicions that the bar dose connect to the rotor head. The way ours is broken just looks like the bar sits in he square loosely.
@2:50 easy when the lugs that have sheared off are not still inside the mounts :-) I had to resort to a red hot needle to dig them out! Great video by the way!
man your video was a great help for me .i just faced with this problem and iam going to repair it .but the problem is i aint have a replacement part.i'm gonna glue it.
Great video. One problem. My balance bar is secured using an eyebolt. There are no threads and it slides out very easily. How to I get it to stay secure?
@Topvideos1001 hi i followed your tutorial but the heli is making a clicking sound. when i throttle the main blades lifts up and it makes contacts with the plastic right aboyve it which holds the stabalizer.
Hey, my helicopter has broke and your video tells me how to fix it, but i don't have the right part and i was wondering if you could tell me where to get that part? Any ideas?
instead of buying a new piece i just took a needle about the same size heated it up and stuck in in the place of the nub. cut it to length. then super glued it in. works like new
I was looking for instructions on how to remove the gear from the main shaft. Is it pressed or threaded? I did learn about the upper assembly though. Thanks.
HAHAHA :-) Nice comment but my knowledge of brains is somewhat nil to say the least. Hope it works out just follow and pause where necessary and I am sure it will be fine. Let me know how you get on, hope you subscribed.
Love the videos, very helpful, but having an issue with my top rotor and weight. No apparent damage, but the blade and weight wobble, which make the heli wobble as well. Straightened weight shaft but will not keep level to ground and crashes. Simply replace whole top rotor and weight assembly? Seems like it is out of balance some how.
+Topvideos1001 Many times. Few little nicks on the blades, but nothing visible that I would think to cause this. We have another one, and comparing the two looks like everything is in place like it should be. The weight did get a little bent, but have bent back to straight and when at slower rotation, keeps nice and level, but once it lifts from ground wobbles out of control.
+Peter Langkamp Sounds like the top rotor has the very same problem in my video, check the bit at the very beginning :45 seconds in. to see if the rotor link is broken, it is only a very small pin that snaps, you cant see it. I will stay here till you reply :-)
+Peter Langkamp Could be, only one pin busted so good luck with fixing it, let me know how you get on :-) Topvideos at your service and happy new year.
K thatnk you so much it made the fkying better but i got one problem when it goese up it starts making like circles not the left and right balance thingy i have it on 0 but it just flies up and starts spinnig in circles.. can u help!?!?!?!?!
The only thing I can think of is the bottom gear may be broken, have a look at the gear box. Have a look on our forum there are some issues there that may help you with this. syma107 forum.
so i changed the shaft, checked with the blades and everything but now my s107g starts to fly but again goes in TBE....before the changing of tabs it would go teribly in TBE and crash right away....but again the issue has not been fixed...any other ideas why i am still facing it?
It flies well. the gears aren't worn... I might have to check the forum. It could slightly bent shaft. I also think sometimes in flight, it can be a bit unstable. Oh, i joined the forum.
I have the same helicopter I brought it today and somehow being a amateur the heli has broken I'm trying to put it right the bottom wings stopped working I had a look and the top wings comes out and the metal in the middle comes out fully so any ideas how to fix it ??

great vid, very helpful, spare parts arrived today and i'm flying again
I was wondering if there is any information on the forum about how to remove and replace a main blade grip on a Syma S113G? Thank you for your time.

Thanks so much for posting this. Where do you get the replacement pin from?
Is it bent, very slightly or have the gears worn ? Try asking on our Forum we have some very helpful chaps there.

Great video! Very helpful.
You can remove the shaft from the plastic black top part by hand, hope this helps :-)
This was very helpful but can i know if the main shaft of this helicopter be used in my Skytech M12 rc helicopter.
Aayush Ratna Sthapit every shaft is the same
To be honest it could be a slightly bent shaft, or a balance problem, try swopping the top blades around.
Did you remove the gears?
I was looking for instructions on how to remove the gear from the main shaft.
Is it pressed or threaded?
I did learn about the upper assembly though. Thanks.
How much flying time did it take before that part broker
hello friend. I have no spare, is there a way to repair the damaged
with screws or something? thanks
Could you give some advice on how to fix that?
XxNardoxX1,
I suggest you check the wires to the motor there could be a broken one.
Thank you sir... very helpful video and it help me accomplish exactly what I needed to fix.
My red wire fell off my main rotor motor. Any tips on how to replace the wire or am I screwed.
