  • Hey guys!
    In this video we’re going to see how a Purelure rod and reel combo cast. Purelure was kind enough to provide the Creek Dance CE-C492UL rod free for unbiased review in this video. The Purelure Silver Feather reel was purchased at full cost during the AliExpress 11.11 sale. In the video, I’ll cover the full lure weigh range from 0.5g all the way up to a 7.4g lure. If you have any questions about this combo please let me know in the comment section. Thanks as always for watching and cheers!

    Don't you dare complain about the fishing being lousy while you have the weather you're having! You should try our 5 months winters up here in Quebec. LOL
    Two questions: Did you clean the spool bearings before making this video or did you use the reel as it was right out of the box? Did the line ever get caught between the spool and the frame during the test?
    Very nice replacement handle knobs, compadre.
    Please don't change an iota from your presentation style! One of the things I love about your presentations is that you're not trying to make yourself the star of the show, but rather you concentrate on the gear. I just hate those 'in your face' presenters! Your quiet, relaxed(!) approach is perfect for the kind of analysis you make. This is one case of 'less is more'. Just keep up the great work! 👍

      Hey fishing! Hahaha fair enough fair enough. Yea I am definitely fortunate to even be allowed the chance to get out to the local lake and fish no doubt! To touch on your questions, I have only flushed the spool bearing itself, in the teardown video that I’m still currently editing you’ll see why I wasn’t quite able to flush the side plate bearing and you’ll see what needs to be done to access it lol 😅😅😅. As I typically only use 0.6goh PE I haven’t run into any issues with getting the line stuck between the spool and frame. The only reel I’ve tested, as of late, that I’ve had this actually happen was the sembo air. Appreciate the comment of the replacement knobs! The stock ones are nice but I like to have something to hold onto haha 😆. Finally, I really appreciate the kind words of encouragement and support. I do my best to focus on the gear at hand and don’t really want/need any attention to myself. There are ways for people to see who I am and what I look like if they join the fb group but I still don’t want/need any personal attention. The channel is about the gear and I plan to keep it that way =). Really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts, insights and the kind words my friend! Cheers!!!

      Hey Frank! I had a chance to take this reel and rod out yesterday and got into a few dinks, which was really fortunate, and I have been nothing but pleased. I initially had thought that the rod lacked sensitivity but I was wrong. This exact purelure setup isn’t the cheapest but at under $200usd it’s a really well done combo. I’m looking forward to getting into more fish with this setup this year and comparing it to upcoming products. Thanks as always for stopping by and sharing your thoughts and insights my friend! Cheers Frank!

    Is that a Gomexus carbon handle that's stock? If so, I have those handles on my Calcutta Conquest BFS & Aldebaran BFS. Nice handles, I have the 84mm Length.

    • @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL
      @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL  6 місяців тому +1

      Hey Joe! Actually, I do have a gomexus carbon handle and the handle on this reel is different from the gomexus. I will say that I think the silver feathers handle is actually “better” than the gomexus carbon handle imho. The SF handle has chamfered edges, a tighter CF weave, is thinner, is more resistant to flexing and timeisting, and has a less angular design than the gomexus. Both handles are great, don’t get me wrong, but the SF handle just seems like it’s a step above. I’ve never quite seen a handle so nice on a reel haha. Hope that helps and cheers my friend!

    Oh Jesus! I see the water)))! Beautiful setup but rod looks like it is a little bit faster than needed for lures under 1.5 gr. Reel is nice but Histar have released the aurora air with 27мм spool 4.4 gr weight o_O a few days ago.

    • @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL
      @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL  6 місяців тому +1

      Hey Antin! I actually have quite enjoyed the setup for the lower end under 1.5g. I’m not really the biggest fan of rods that are much slower than this tbh haha. I feel like I lose too much power and the rods just become too noodley… unless I am looking to use a glass rod then that’s another story. As far as the aurora air is concerned don’t worry one is on the way to me and I should be receiving it shortly lol. Just to give you an idea, this video took me a few days to edit and I have a handful more videos like this that I need to finish 😅. The DC airlight video is likely the longest and most “aimless” as I was mainly trying to figure out and understand the app. Anywho, I’m glad you seem to have enjoyed the video haha. • @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL
      @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL  6 місяців тому +1

      Hey Jacob! You feel like it’s overbraked? I wasn’t getting any pulls to the left oddly… the brakes are definitely on the stronger side but I was getting overruns which tells me that the brakes aren’t too strong at the 1-2 settings. I do wish that the ideal casting range was set more to the middle of the brake dial range but on 1.5-2 the reel has been fairly trouble free and getting decent distances I think with this setup. Can always use some tin foil to weaken the brakes some but I don’t think it’s really necessary, especially after seeing and experiencing some backlashes on the reel. Overall the reel is a pleasure although imho overpriced currently. Also, I think I’m casting 5g around 1.5-2? Maybe I’m chucking it harder than you are? Not sure… anyhow thanks for stopping by and cheers mate!

    • @yep.fishing
      @yep.fishing 6 місяців тому +1

    • @patrickhartman6818
      @patrickhartman6818 6 місяців тому +1

      There are a few reasons, ni one can cast exactly the same every time, also the wind, it is a new reel and they losen up more and more as you throw. If the rod has to much bend it causes backlash,

    • @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL
      @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL  6 місяців тому +1

      Hey Roux! Patrick seems to have offered some good explanations as to why distances may vary with each cast. To put it in a nutshell though, factors are never the exactly same. My casting strokes will never be exactly the same, the wind, the way the lure tumbles through the air, the way the line was laid and released from the spool, my thumb may have been in the way, my rod may have loaded, etc. I have really enjoyed the combo so far and am looking forward to getting into some fish with it. Cheers my friends!

    hello, thank you for the content, can u help me?, I use a BFS reel and using lure about 3-5gram and target fish under 1.5kg, to choose a fishing rod based on longest cast distance, which is farther, an ultralight 2-6lb rod or a light 4-10lb rod? Thank You, and sorry for my R.I.P english 🍻

    • @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL
      @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL  6 місяців тому

      Hey angga! If you’re looking to cast long distances you’re going to want a longer rod. From the stats that you’re mentioning I’d suggest looking at a 7.5’ rod made by Tsurinoya called the Elf Ajing. It’s designed to be an ajing rod and supposed to be for fishing ultralight soft plastic lures on jighead but I’ve found that it basically does everything well. The lure weight rating states 0.6-7g but I’ve tested it with 0.5g and up to 15g. At the top end it gets a bit mushy but it’s capable of casting that weight. Hope that helps and cheers!

Let me preface by saying that I don’t think I’m tall enough to comfortable flick cast this 4’9” rod, I am around 5’10”. I was able to do some cross arm flick casting(think of a more vertical/diagonal/tight to the body one handed backhand tennis stroke) but I am not that great at flick casting and I think honestly glass rods are better as they’re easier to load.
