- An over-the-air (OTA) update has brought Apple CarPlay to newer Android-Automotive powered Volvos. CarPlay has been missing on Volvo models ever since the carmaker went with Google’s operating system.
B5 models likely will not be able to recieve the OTA update and will have to go to a local Volvo dealer to have it installed, though B6 models should be ok for the OTA update.

Bro, it’s really dumb that much cheaper cars, like the Suzuki Swift, allow for wireless CarPlay. And Volvo’s don’t.
Its an apple issue. They're not working with Volvo.

typically no! i just had the car in accessory start mode (not the engine on) which is why it was booting up.
No it's not, and it doesn't even take that long to load
This is a great layout… Ford should take a queue because they have a gigantic tablet screen and CarPlay uses less than 50% of it.
Are you talking about the Mach-E with the floating knob?

The ridiculous last minute added and not integrated tablet screen is a reason to avoid buying Mach-E. Big mistake from Ford.

Can I download Google maps if I have Sensus infotainment system? Volvo xc90 2021 model. Also, is it possible to have full screen car play with external plugin device?
Finally. I am about to order a new XC90 T8 Recharge, and mainly use Waze as my goto navigation in my current car. can you please demonstrate how waze works on this screen, and how it looks?
Waze takes up the entire display! I will make a UA-cam Short about it if you would like to see.

Can you control Apple Music/Spotify in Apple CarPlay with the steering wheel and the knops? Or only via touch screen?
I've been able to control Apple Music/Spotify with the steering wheel buttons (play/pause/skip) There is also a button on the wheel that activates Siri. I'm on a 2016 XC90 Volvo so those features are still included in newer models.

This is for Volvos with the Google based system. Not the Sensus system. It varies from model to model. If you have the full screen CarPlay it’s Google. If it’s half screen it’s the Sensus system.
Hi. It’s possible to use Apple Music and still use google navigation in the Volvo’s android?
I don’t know if you could do it through Volvo at the same time you can download google maps on your iPhone and it would use google maps that way

Super comfortable
Amazing even. Nicest seat I've sat in that I own. Even nicer than my 2000 dollar captain's chair in my semi.
I use sometimes and Really nice, but definitely not that comfortable like my Mercedes E 2011 seats. Maybe it’s not the best to compare to my Mercedes, but I use these 2 cars now :)

you should already have apple carplay, but unfortunately you can’t get the full screen one

No. Only cars with the Google system can do this.
Can you do the same with android auto? I think that only works with Carplay

USB only on all Volvos.

My new 2022 V90 has updated to 2.2 but the Apple CarPlay icon does not show up on the center console. What gives?
I would recommend contacting your dealer! It should be present with the update.
My xc60 early 2020 model rain sensing automatic wipers work very slowly, does anyone know how to solve this issue? I end up changing to manual high speed
likely is a sensor issue
@@Allcarnews itt senses the rain but upon heavy rain the time between each wipe should be shorter therefore the screen is clean& visibility should improve, but even in heavy rain the wipers wipe slowly as in the time between every wipe is long.
@@RashidKhan123 My volvo doesent have auto wipers so not entirely sure. I would try turning the dial to the max speed setting even while in auto mode if possible and maybe that will fix it? Never heard of this issue

I love the look of Volvos and s safety features, but the infotainment is such a downer for me, especially in this price class! In the end of the day you’re sitting inside the car so outer looks are secondary. This small tablet, cable connected car play, Tachymeter not connected, looks slow too. I’ll rather get a Lexus for that money + longer guarantee
Might have been good to show us how the Waze and Spotify apps looked on there? Probably the two apps that are used the most when driving. 🤦🏻♂️

There is no android auto as far as I'm concerned. Likely due to the newer infotainment already being google based.

With the google based system? yes. the sensus system should already have apple carplay

I added WIRELESS CarPlay module to my XC60 2016 for 300 EUR and it works perfectly :)
And it's turning on literally like in 2 seconds (faster then main radio module).

Unfortunately there is no Android Auto on new Volvo models because the standard infotainment is google based. Volvo recommends signing into google services on your vehicle if you have an android phone but unfortunately there is no whatsapp integration unless you use an iPhone with Apple carplay… yes i know it’s very silly

I just bought 2024 xc60 and I asked same question to the dealer but in the end I bought the car anyway. Honestly, I don’t miss Apple CarPlay at all. Google system is awesome and maps . Also whenever I got a text msg, Volvo is displaying the txt from the screen.
Hi bro you mentioned "turn vehicle off to save fuel" but playing with your electronics without your motor on is a great waay to kill your 12V battery, the amount of gas burned to power the alternator is practically nothing
This used a 12v battery and a 48v battery. It’s a mild hybrid. It’s designed to do this
@@Allcarnews i have a prius the high voltage battery does not help power your car electronics unless its in ignition on/ready mode. maybe for volvo its diferent
i.e. the inverter is only on in ignition on/ready mode
@@Allcarnews I am doing some reading, i am almost positive the inverter on this car is not on in accessory mode. not trying to be a smart ass, a minute or two probably wont kill it, just be careful out there brother

yes android auto has always worked on this! it was apple car play that was taking time on the new google based infotainment system.
@@Allcarnews Unfortunately the statement " has always worked" does not seem to be true. I have 2.0 firmware revision in XC60 Early 2022. USB port is disabled, so it is no way to connect anything.
@@ilejncs Interesting. Android auto always was included on the new google systems. I’m sure you are familiar with your volvo but did you plug it in the USB port with the white outline? That is the only one that works. There have been LOTS of bugs that have required a dealer to reset the software.
@@Allcarnews USB slot is only for charging from 2.0 (I think) to 2.2. No Android Auto, no media. It is documented in official firmware changelog.
