    I need one of those badly. The one I built with wood and exercise mats doesn’t work well enough to do lights 😢

    Hey, I just recently started making my own holsters and sheaths using a standard press and was interested inquiring about the benefits of a vacuum press... Would it be beneficial for a hobbyist? Or would you only recommend for commercial purposes? Thanks for your time.

      Ive used the press for knives and works fine.. But when it comes to detailed retention and molding youll want to make or buy the vacuum press. I just picked up some 1/16" silicone Gasket sheet 24x24" for $35 on eBay... The build is cheap but the vacuum and gasket is the costly part. The hardest part is the prep work for your belt mount and features on the item you want to mold. Remember that whatever your gasket size is you have to account for the frame bordering it in reduced size. Most of what i make is for larger blades with a cheap nylon sheaths. 12x12 may work for smaller stuff like Compact pistols and small items under 8inches total dimensions.

    Doesn't seem to have the same defined contoured forming properties as with a manual press. I'll stick to good ol' manual pressing. Good video quality though

    What brand/ make of vacuum table

  • @noyfb2135
    @noyfb2135 8 років тому

    Who manufactures the vacuum table, and please don't answer like you did to Jean Francois Prince with them. How about the actual manufacturer on the tag on the lower right front of the box.

    • @anguinusvir6698
      @anguinusvir6698 8 років тому +1

      The table press is manufactured by a company in China but due to import laws it can't be imported. Contains lead and you probably wouldn't want a product made in China anyways. Move along now.

    what type of vacumm do you use and what is the durometer and thickness of the rubber sheet you use
    thanks

    • @twotwentyswift
      @twotwentyswift 5 років тому +2

      It's 1/32 silicone sheet with a durometer of 50. Don't use rubber it won't hold up to 350-degree kydex. I use a vacuum pump I bought at Harbor Freight that's designed for vacuuming your a/c system on your car. He has all the parts and specs on his website.
