This blows my mind. I live in New Zealand and to give birth costs NOTHING. Like nothing. I think I paid $5 for my prescriptions afterwards which included stool softeners, blood thinner injections and pain relief. My pre and postpartum care cost nothing. I can’t imagine having to have medical insurance so that you don’t go bankrupt. Those costs are astronomical.
Crazy! I got pregnant while working in Sweden. I payed there 200 SEK (22 dollars) for ultrasound and the medical check. NIPT and NT tests were for free. I then moved back to Germany. I payed out of my pocket about 120 euros (130 dollars) for fetal morphology scan and that I can get ultrasound at each further appointment. All blood tests were covered plus three scans. I gave birth at the university hospital in my town, stayed in for three days. I don’t have idea how much it did cost because everything was covered by the insurance. Just now I come back from the hospital because my son got corona. We stayed there three days-covered by the insurance. My husband is also positive and couldn’t pick us up so the hospital organized medical transport for us which is also covered. I have no idea how you guys in USA are so brave to go to the doctor.
Thanks for sharing your experience! It's so interesting to hear how it's done in other countries. Did you also get maternity leave starting 6 weeks before your due date? I heard that is the case in Germany.
Thanks for sharing this info with us! I am pregnant and getting pricing for CA hospitals around LA. So far I got a UCLA quote: $19,400 for basic vaginal birth with no epi and 2 days in hospital as cash price and $8,100 - $15,000 range my price after the insurance deductibles if using my insurance: Blue Shield CA PPO Gold Tandem. Sounds like I would have to take a loan to take care of birth....
I had my first child 80 days ago, my bill was also $41k from Hackensack NJ, I got billed for $750. Still haven’t got another bill but I’m watching my back lol. I don’t fully understand my bill either.
@@AshleyYang …well another 3 weeks had past and no other bills. My employer provided the insurance and he said it’s as good as it gets. I’m grateful to say the least.
Hi Crystal, I did not have a C-section but I know you get 2 additional weeks of short term disability after birth if you have a C-section. Hope that helps!

Wowww that's awesome that you didn't even have to think much about cost while going through this process

Same thing in Australia and the UK... No cost.
Some out of pocket costs in Australia if you want extra scans.
so how do the doctors get paid? How do the hospitals fund themselves? Kiwis are so ignorant, it's pathetic.

hooray for insurance!
!!!
Other countries think this system is insane.
@@Robert-cu9bm and their taxes are insane. Paying half of a tiny, tiny paycheck to the government for life. No thanks.

Why didn't you have insurance?
Ah so you paid 2000+ not the 40,000 you said on the video click bait?
Correct!
If she didn't have insurance, that's what she would have paid, luckily she didn't have to!
