This video is paid course worthy! Thank you so much for this plesant video that taught so well with so many practical examples in only 9 minutes! Thank you Julia!
As I am interested in photographing people - your channel and your videos have been top of mind! What I enjoy that I find different in a good way is the storytelling, behind the scenes and femininity of your videos. And what makes your videos exceptional is that you provide just enough technical details AND visual examples. Some channels can get too technical (and I am a man's man and enjoy technical reviews!) I am newly into photography and videography. I bought my Panasonic Lumix S5 I with a 35mm f/1.8 prime lens and the 20-60 f/3.5-5.6 kit lens as a bundle About a year later I added the Panasonic Lumix S5 II X with a 50mm f/1.8 prime. So I guess Panasonic know what to bundle! They have watched your channel! Once again thanks! From Bulgaria 🇧🇬 @@juliatrotti
The explanation at 2:08 does show how Julia uses the sunlight and scene to create better light and a feeling of more depth. Try experimenting with the light and subject to background distance to make photos look less flat and a bit more 'magical.'
❤. Julia, with this zoom lens you have show more creativity and abilities than with the fixed 1.2 lenses. I really liked the photo shooting with the beautiful model. Thank you for sharing your talent with us. I am inspired. ❤.
Always love clicking on your videos because it’s just so exciting to watch you take us through your shoot process. It makes us feel included in the shoot. The pictures are so nice. Thank you!
Pictures came out great, your Lightroom presets really change so much. Great model, impressed by all you could do with one lens. Best of luck to the turkey, I hope he/she survives the holidays.
Gorgeous model and really great shots! Love the tones! I have the 24-70 but mostly use my 50 and 85 for portraits. Might start throwing the 24-70 into the mix more.
24-70 is fantastic in fast paced environments where every minute counts that swapping glass is time consuming. Also for beginners, with a 24-70, people can become more proficient with each focal length and understand each does to the image.
Yep, I agree! I like that it's a pretty cost effective way to spend time with lots of focal lengths to learn what you like the best. I used to shoot on a 50mm and 24-70mm lens, that was my WHOLE camera bag. But the zoom lens helped me realised I love wider focal lengths. I don't think I would have been brave enough to drop the $$ on a 35 without testing it out on the 24-70 beforehand!
Many thanks for posting Julia; always wondered how a zoom lens would work with these type of photos; BTW, there were also some superb snaps in the post!!
Thank you for the Video 🙏🏿now I know how to shoot with wide lense 😅 I was scared to get to close to the subject due the lens distortion but in your Vase i doesnt really brother me and it is create for fashion photography 😁 I will try it in my next fashion shoot
Lovely video as usual ! May I ask though why you're shooting at such high shutter speed and ISO? I would understand if the subject was moving, but most of the time she was just standing still. Thanks.
Hi Julia, great photos. Wondering if you set lens at f2.8 and let the camera pick the ISO and shutter speed? Also, what metering mode were you using? Center-weighted, spot, matrix? Many thanks for all your great videos.
I shoot on the Sony A7iv & have been eying a 24-70mm since I’m in the wedding industry. I have a 50mm G master that I love & an 85mm 1.4 but having 1 camera body it isn’t ideal. I also was curious if you could if you haven’t yet do a video on manual white balance. I usually just select 5600k or shade/cloudy depending on the lighting scenario but sometimes even though I’m shooting RAW the skin tones are hard to correct in post & I want to nail it in camera 🤍
I love you , u r the favorite to learn from , coz given the ( why ) we do this and ( why ) we do that , I am really need to know how yo get that edit plz 🙏
I enjoy shots taken with a wider perspective, typically between 24-35mm, which capture a glimpse of trees or the surrounding environment, especially when the setting isn't overly bustling. This adds depth by showcasing more of the location instead of solely focusing on the model. These shots tend to maintain clarity without excessive distortion compared to even wider lenses. Conversely, using a 70mm lens from up close can feel a bit restrictive. Nonetheless, great video-thanks again! ☺ By the way, do you usually shoot wide open or prefer to close down the aperture a bit for your shots?
These photos are great! Perfect mix of shallow DOF while still having some background for perspective. Ive been pretty much a prime only shooter the entire 20 years Ive been shooting professionally, but that has changed. My main lens recently is the Sigma 28-70 2.8 for my S5II, I sold my 50 1.8 and dont miss it. Just want to pick up the new Sigma 70-200 2.8 "sports" lens and I'll be just fine with the two zooms. F/2.8-f/4 is more than enough DOF on a FF camera IMO. I am not a fan of the shoot everything wide open at f/1.2 or 1.4 and obliterate the background look. It's amateur looking IMO and you won't ever see it in any professional fashion magazine, because the top notch pro portrait shooters have never done that, it's a UA-cam trend. These are some of your best shots IMO 😊
Hi, @juliatrotti! Beautiful photos as always! Do you use zooms for your wedding photography at all? It seems like it might be worth it for the flexibility, but also a challenge in venues that aren't necessarily lit well. Sometimes, I take a zoom with me instead of primes if I don't think that I'm going to be doing any portraits. But then, somehow, I always wind up doing portraits. ;-) How did you like the Samsung? I haven't shot with that one. Would you consider it a good alternative to the 24-70 GM II?
Really good one! Do you think 24-70mm is unflattering or has a big distortion compared to 50 or 85mm? I see your photos are amazing but I do wonder how is 24-70mm lens for regular ladies (not models or 60-90-60) I mean when the len is set to 50 or 70mm..
On 35mm, how does this lens compare with the newer RF35mm F1.4 VCM? which lens do. you like better at this focal point? I'm debating whether I get the newer lens or get this one that could be more versatile.
Hello, good afternoon from the Canary Islands. What is the device you have on the left side of the camera connected to the USB or HDMI port? Is it to record the camera screen internally?
Julia, so I got a 24-70 lens for my Sony.. and it’s obviously different from my 35mm 1.4- and usually I shoot at 100 ISO.. will I need to shoot higher ISO when I’m outside w the 2.8 and higher shutter speed?
Thanks, did you see any autofocus issues on this lens when focusing moving subjects? Iam looking to get a zoom lens and stuck between this one and sigma 24-70...!!! also Tamron 35-150 coming in between, I would really appreciate your advice.
