- DJI has done it! The Goggles 2 are officially backwards compatible with the old Air Units and Caddx Vistas!
To update the firmware on the Goggles 2/Air Unit/Vista:
download the "DJI Assistant 2 (Consumer Drone Series)" program on Windows or Mac
plug in the Goggles 2/Air Unit/Vista unit and it should recognise the device for firmware update
Please be aware that updating the firmware on the Air Unit or Vista will stop compatibility with the Goggles V1/V2. It is possible to roll back the firmware to regain that compatibility to V1/V2, but compatibility between V1/V2 and the Goggles 2 simultaneously on the same firmware is not possible.
Air Unit/Caddx Vista Firmware Compatibility:
V01.01.0000: Goggles 2
V01.00.0608 (or older): Goggles V1/V2

Awesome job on catching this! I know what I’m doing when I get home from work today.
Haha thanks! Yeh I've been checking for this update daily 2 or 3 times and it suddenly showed up at 12 midnight here. Was too excited to sleep at that point, so I had to make a video so people knew it was out! I wasn't expecting it and was surprised they released it so soon actually... Not complaining. 😄
@@nxp200 definitely exciting news, just a couple more hours until I can test it out although it’s currently dumping snow here so it will be an indoor thing only, for now. Thanks again!
saalut- thanks,superb vlog~goodbye!,=))
Niice! Will you make a video setting up the msp osd?
I will try. I have a lot on at the moment with work and family. Hopefully be able to squeeze in time to record a short video on how to do that soon 👍
Fantastic news. Thank you for the latest update.
Do you or try to find out if the Vista can still be accessed by the FPV Goggles V1?
Unfortunately once you upgrade the Vista Firmware to work with Goggles 2, it's not compatible with the V1/V2 goggles. You have to downgrade to get that back.
@@nxp200 Thanks for your reply. The good thing is that you can at least roll back to the previous version 😊
Saludos. Ala fecha de hoy necesito el mismo firmware o ya en las actualizaciones nuevas hay soporte para las caddx nebula?? Disculpa estoy por recibir mis googles 2 y mi
Unidad de video nebula saludos
It's likely that new units will be shipped with latest firmware, but it's best to check when you receive it and update if necessary. You'll need to use the DJI Assistant 2 (Consumer Drones Series) software.
Did you switch inside the goggles from 03 to vista
hello. Good video. The truth is, I have the goggle 2 and 3 drones with the air vista video system and the air unit is it worth upgrading it to the goggle2 and buy the new air unit3?
I haven't tried the O3 yet (sitting in front of me right now but I have no time to install and test it 😔). I'll let you know when I do. In terms of G2+Vista, it's better than V2+Vista in my opinion due to the vibrancy and contrast, but not worth getting the G2 unless you have the cash to spare.
Nice. Does the 120 fps come with the reduced latency like the Gogges V2?
I don't think so. I think the Goggles 2 are limited to 100FPS due to the max refresh rate of the OLED screen. Happy to be corrected on this though.
Hi...thank you for this
Please update with goggle footage, if possible.
I can understand the V2 with the 03.
I'm not sure the G2 will help the Vista and original AU.
I'd like to see examples; possibly from the G2 DVR.
Maybe you can describe your experience with G2 and Vista/Original AU
Yes, I'll try to get Goggles 2 DVR footage when I get a chance to go out and fly with it. Looking forward to testing it out and sharing with you guys! 👍 I'll try to get the MSP Display Port Betaflight OSD to work as well to see how that looks.
Hi Richard, I've just uploaded the video with Goggles 2 DVR. Hope you like it
Nice! Thankyou!!!
So question, if you upgrade the firmware on vista, then it only works with the goggles 2 ? and we have to downgrade the firmware on the vista for it to work with the V1 and V2 again ? and can you do a bind video for the goggles 2 ? or is it simple enuff to bind ? Thanks
That's correct. I was in a rush to get the video finished, so I didn't have time to put that detail in. I added some details of the compatibility into the description of the video. In the video I binded the Goggles 2 and the Vista. It was very quick and easy. Hit bind on Vista, hit bind on Goggles 2 (after switching to Air Unit Mode in the goggles settings), and done!
@@nxp200 Thanks for the reply with the binding.
Can you set power and channel on vista when using gogles2 ?
I couldn't see any power options. It's similar to the Avata where you only get auto and manual channel options (I have the "ham" file FCC unlock method applied):
- 40Mhz shows 3 channels
- 20Mhz shows 7 channels
- 10Mhz shows 7 channels
Say I have the v2 goggles.. I buy an 03 air unit. Will my v2s work with my old vista's after I update to use the 03?
I believe it will still work, since the goggles firmware is updated to work with the O3 and does not affect the compatibility with the Vista. I think many users who have the O3 are doing this right now.
Does this work with the air unit lite for some reason my fails to upgrade?
Great! Can we switch back from goggles v2 to goggles 2?!
Unfortunately no. If you upgrade to the firmware that allows binding with the Goggles 2, you cannot bind the Air Unit/Vista to the V1/V2. You have to downgrade the firmware to be able to bind back to the V1/V2.
I just bound my caddx vista to my new to me goggles 2, but when I i fly about 50 feet away, it goes from 50mbs to 8mbs. If i fly any further the video freezes and I lose video. Any idea why that might be?
Ensure you've wired the caddx Vista to the flight controller UART correctly (RX to TX and TX to RX). Also make sure the configuration in betaflight ports tab is correct
@@nxp200 Everything is wired and set up correctly. I've been flying this same drone for a year now with my V2 goggles and have great range and penetration. All I did was remove the wtfos from the vista and update the firmware to the latest firmware on the DJI Companion 2 fpv version. That allowed me to bind the vista to the goggles 2, but when I try to fly it, I have no range at all. I use an elrs receiver and a tx16s radio. So I don't use the DJI radio and don't have those wires soldered to the FC because I don't use the DJI radio.
Ah ok. If you don't have the RX and TX wires soldered to the flight controller, go into your Goggles settings and turn off "Auto Low-Power State of Air Unit". Hopefully this will make it go into full power mode.
@@nxp200 I'll give that a try tomorrow. I have TX & RX soldered to the FC. I just don't have the SBUS & SBUS ground soldered to the FC.
Gotcha. Hopefully improves with constant full power mode. Good luck!
The real question that needs answering is does your V1 goggles still bind with the vista?
Once upgrading the firmware to V01.01.0000 to get compatibility with the new Goggles 2, you cannot rebind back with the V1 or V2. You have to downgrade the firmware to get binding to the V1/V2 Goggles again.
@@nxp200 Ooooh...dear
Also to complete and have OSD display... write that on Betaflight cli
set osd_displayport_device = MSP
set displayport_msp_serial = YOUR_UART_PORT_NUMBER - 1
save
Awesome!! Thanks for that! I was going to look that up and do it this weekend. It was 3am when I recorded this and was too tired to mess about with it anymore. 👍
I can’t update my vista units it says 4-10 retry only my goggles 2
What about with FCC on V01.01.0000: Goggles 2 and Vista?
I'm not sure how it performs in FCC countries. I tested the ham file on the Goggles 2 and it seems it gives me this:
40Mhz: 3 channels
20Mhz: 7 channels
10Mhz: 7 channels
From watching Mads Tech videos and his testing, these numbers of channels is equivalent to FCC.
how is it with using the polor camera
Sorry I don't have the polar camera. I only have the nebula Pro.
is it googles 2 now compatible with caddx polar ?
Yes. It should since it is the same Vista unit
If anyone has a video on how to get dji controllee 2 working with older style vistas that would be great! Everything is working BESIDES the controller v2
And does it work with the controller 2 now?!
I don't have the Controller 2 since it's been out of stock. But I think it does!! The Vista Firmware update states "Added support to use with DJI FPV Remote Controller 2"
bravo🤓🤓🤓
Nice , but we need also for google v2. If not this is fraud.what will be for some two years??????
I upgrade 2 of my vistas with WTF.OSD , now DJI assist doesnt detect my vista, do you know any solution? I already remove the WTF.OSD from my vistas and still cant detect my vistas on dji
Sorry, my Goggles V2 is a recent model and has the latest firmware that cannot be jailbroken. So I don't have any experience with WTF.OSD, sorry.
@@nxp200 i already find the solution hehe... first uninstall the WTFOS from the vista, and then on the WTFOS CLI write :
wtfos-remove-adb
reboot
Then the vista can connect to DJI assist.
If someone look here in your channel, here is the solution =)
Awesome! Thanks for posting your solution here for others. I'll try to remember this if anyone else asks me about the same issue. 👍
were do i get it
Download the "DJI Assistant 2 (Consumer Drone Series)" program on Windows or Mac. Plug in the Vista unit and it should recognise the device for firmware update. Sorry I didn't include full details of the "how to" since it was released about 12 midnight for me here and rushed the edit to get the video out to everyone. Let me know if you have any other questions.
... and after all DJI have taken all of this ... wtf ??!!
Can't go back to connect v2? DJI is terrible firmware designer.
You can only get the V1/V2 compatibility if you stay or roll back the older firmware. It is a shame they couldn't get it to bind to both on the same firmware..
Is anyone having this problem
