This still is one of the best battle systems out there. Super satisfying to master and a great flow of focusing fire one turn and needing to defend and heal the next. A shame no one has tried to make something similar or at least a spiritual successor since then.
When Ryoei Mikage gets back his properties then the chance of him doing a sequel/prequel to it is quite likely. If he wishes to get back to this project that is.

if you know what you're doing, it wasn't that difficult. The only thing I disliked was that the you were basically forced to play all three males as your end game party because their strongest weapons were busted, especially Serge's. His mage mastery + stacking inferno was deadly
The colors, the graphics, the great music, the big explorable world map, all the side bosses, secret attacks, elemental attacks of all kind, magic team attacks, the hard but fun difficulty, the character designs... Why did this game have so low sales in both Japan and the US?
oh it sold quite well in japan comparatively, because it got this "premium" status where the popular titles, say Pikmin, Super Mario Galaxy, Wii Sports Resort or Smash Bros Brawl, get a "cheaper version" of them as a sorta rerelease. Imagine the PS1 and PS2 Platinum rereleases. Just the US sales were quite low due to little advertisement to it and some critical voices talking mixed about the game.
I just finished this game. Just busted Eesa's. Only post-game stuff left now. I really hope they remake this for the 3DS i'd totally buy it and play again.
funny enough Serge's VA did the announcer for Tekken 7(!) which I would consider quite a step up from his previous work. Oh and I liked Cecille's english VA quite some too, mayhaps my favorite VA alongside Rastan in that game!
I always really liked Alf's quotes with his Excel acts in his final battle, haha he was way cool. I also really liked Wiess as an enemy as well. And I liked all the main characters besides Ceceil and Leslie, haha they were way lame : p
the game was going to have a prequel AND sequel, anf the prequel was around 30% done before it was caneled, we would have played as Rex Lagoon, L'arc's dad with how the Lord knights came to be etc.
Those were some of the characters from Luminous arc. After you beat the game you unlock a new dungeon, complete that dungeon and a new challenge will open up in the arena in Carbunculus. You can find the dungeon in the new moon in, which is to the left to the edge of the world map.
This game is awesome, probably one of the better JRPG I've played recently. It's every memorable, just finished it this evening and I'm still thinking about it which lead me to this video. All the boss battles are very hard and challenging and it's always satisfying when you finally beat them. Those developers sure didn't hold back on the difficulty levels, just like how JRPG used to be. I will not say anything about the VA though, since I played the undub version anyway. I love this game!
@emelgar007 I figured it out. It was the feldragon scale she was equipped with whoops which I fixed. I realize that adeles staff came from the last battle you have with clyde. The others can be gained from quests and the arena. So basically everythings ok just misunderstandings sorry
I love this vid so much. Game is epic. I was actually wondering if we-or you- would be able to make annonations, or a link, that tell us at what levels the characters learn what moves.
I think Dynos and Lucia could be the best of friends "Poweeeeeer!" "Chaoooooos!" I think Leslie and Serge's are my favorites, for animations and quotes. And of course, Ignacy's are impossibly badass.
