Grunt: I'm gonna run you over with my ghost
Spartan: Hold my Armor Lock
Wait...wouldnt the spartan want it on hand? Lmao
THIS game single handed; ruin all the halos after it. sprinting, load outs , and abilities. this is when bungie tried to make halo a COD. im not saying reach was a bad game. but bungie leaving 343 to pick up where they left off, just ruined halo imo.
ZeusLordof Gods I agree for the most part, Reach was a good game but it set a bad example for 343 to follow. Armor abilities were fine(Excluding sprint and armor lock in multiplayer) and the art style was fine too, but then 343 went overboard.
ZeusLordof Gods But I don’t think they were trying to make CoD
This comment has 117 likes so I won't ruin that
Oh no, that sangheili on the thumbnail is going for the big NOM!
*gets mouth-zapped in the process*
Going on about the inconsistency of technology appearance in the games. I honestly don't see the big issue with it. Halo is a almost two decades old series that had multiple games, books, etc. Conflicting and missing lore is bound to happen. Honestly I always thought that the most simple logical answer was always the best when looking at the small holes. Example would be the inconsistency of guns. Maybe the character you played as just didn't come across "particulate weapon" during this short glimpse of time we played as them in game.
I think they excused it well enough, a prototype thing on reach, they had to bail out, and halo 1-3 is just 3 months so a decent chance for chief not to see it plus what his armour couldn't take it anyway right? 2 is a bit harder to explain away tho
Plus it’s over 30 years of warfare; considering the sheer scale of the war it’s likely not everyone had the same tech and it became a matter of what was readily available for survival
I love that you take your time making videos as good as they can be, the quality is so obvious, definitely worth the spacious uploads.
You know, off topic, Batman uses Evade in the Batman: Arkham series.
Now Master Chief also has the grapple and the batclaw in Infinite. Can't wait for the batarangs and the line launcher
I think it would be cool if the campaign armor ability pick ups returned for both Infinite’s campaign and multiplayer but expanded to include some the other power up things from halo 4 and 5 and some new stuff. So they can keep the classic base gameplay of halo but allow the sandbox to be more then just guns.
wait wait wait, you're telling me Sprint in Halo is Kat's fault? She used to be my favorite Reach character.
the halo reach official guide taught me this a while ago. rather interesting that she would hack their own armor to override safety limiters
Well, her driving is so horrible that you begin to suggest that she exists solely to ruin the game.
4:24 Act Man: Reach is a great game but *fuck armour lock!*
Also will you be remaking your Battle of Reach timeline for this series? Just thought it would be a fitting time to do so in order to add any infomation that 343 might have released since.
It is in the works :)
Sprint, Jetpack, and Drop Shield for the win!
Also, Agent Connecticut's Decoy ability from Red vs. Blue is still loads better than what we have with the Hologram.
Although the overwhelming hatred shown towards Armor Lock, I still enjoyed using it extensively. Some of my best Halo Reach moments were me destroying others in Banshees or Ghosts who tried ramming me in matchmaking with Armor Lock.
You monster
I think that the Evade ability isn't powered by its module. The module is merely a decorative item designating one as a good acrobat.
Or a burst of energy to the legs for further launch instead of a slow energy release like sprint.
I fucking love this channel. You should start a subscriber series and see individual subs to ask and talk about specified topics. Vetted of course.
Armor lock is like the reverse card from uno if you lock down right before getting punched and then the EMP lowers the shield of the other player, giving you a chance to punch and kill them back. Loved doing that when I started playing.
No, Armor Lock is like if someone used a +2 on you and you used the blank wild card to not take 4 cards and make him grab the whole fricking deck
Ahhhh yes armor lock I remember I was owning players with it.
Really enjoying this series man, quality is stellar as always. I’d love to see a Halo 3 Covenant armory video! There’s so many cool covenant weapons and vehicles in that game that I would love to hear you explain them.
If you use armor lock, whether it be campaign, multiplayer, or firefight, you are a monster.
Why Campaign tho? it's fun to use it when a ghost tries to run me over, and the only thing i'm pissing off is the game's AI.
although using it in mp is not acceptable, or firefight when playing against another player.
In the words of the Russian Badger "Ha Ha HA Armor lock bitch!"
In firefight is the meta for stealing the Wraiths, AI is very dumb
6:00 I know the fall of reach book isn’t technically “canon” but what always bugged me was why none of the weapons/armor modules where added to the POA’s armory? Most notably the DMR, battle rifle (although technically I guess it was still a prototype as seen in the contact harvest book), the falcon, mongoose, or any of the covenant special weapons.
One guy I was talking to stated that for the most part in the reach game you are dealing with army units and in halo ce you are dealing with marine units and just like in real life army and marines use different gear and weapons systems.
Can you make a lore video on Sgt. Marcus Stacker?
I am hoping for Christmas release.
4K, 144fps, ultra settings, KB/M ...
The Skirmishers that use holograms almost always trick me. Sometimes their holograms are deployed in the most obvious ways though.
Xer the T'vaoan Just depends on the level of AI
@@PackHunter117 imagine Skirmishers with camo
Xer the T'vaoan Duel wielding Needlers
@@PackHunter117 OH GOD
@@PackHunter117 also with body shields and the little shields the orange ones have
Who else thinks sprint is the best ability
@Fastest Hedgehog ya but they hate armour lock more lol
Anyone who thinks so is a heretic and shall not be with us in our path to the Great Journey
One of these days I’d love to see an actual explanation of what makes armour abilities in keeping with halo in reach but not in halo 4.
I never had any problems with the armor abilities. Heck, I loved using them. So I don’t the hate they receive but I don’t really play multiplayer so...yeah.
Also Skirmishers used holograms!? I never knew that. Or noticed it if they used it in the campaign.
Armor lock and jetpack are very annoying to play against. Sprint can be irritaring too because of the double melees. I guess that's why people don't like them, they're ok in the campaign but not in multiplayer
the problem with armor abilities is mainly Armor Lock, it literally requires no skill and rewads you for pushing a button.
In campaign is totally fine to use and it's fun, but in mp it's annoying and totally unfair to go against someone with Armor Lock
@@Cardboard_Cut Gonna disagree with you on that. I usually end up dead more often than not when using armor lock. That counts for PC and back when I was 10 years younger, and thought it was neat. I still avoid it like the plague in firefight and campaign because I end up dying trying to use it at all. Firefight and campaign? The enemy just waits around, or throws more grenades or shoots more rockets than I have charge for, usually making it hard for me to get to cover coz Armor Lock makes me not move. I have only gotten a few splatter stops from it in MP (ten years ago, and I remember well coz it was so rare) and all other times I get splattered anyway, shot, or otherwise killed. No skill? I must be the worst Reach player in existence if I can't make Armor Lock work.
9 years ago today Halo Reach was released
Sprint is easy to counter...never understood the hate
Just duck and punch. They most likely miss and be down to no shields and either a headshot or second punch wins.
I think the problem people have with Sprint is that it doesen't fit in Halo
Don't see how Sprint could be or is gamebreaking ability on its own
The only people that hate armor lock are the scrubs that are too lazy to take a step back and grenade/headshot/power-weapon the guy dead as he's coming out of it. And if he's holding it down so his teammates can come to the rescue, retreat a bit so you don't get ganked and come back for him while his armor lock is on cooldown. You calm your murderboner for one second and armor lock becomes nothing.
ONI: we want to know your location
Halo Canon: Why?
ONI: if the news that kat made sprint leaked out then "everyone" will hate her even more as people already hate her for her bad driving.
No word on active camo and SPI? Especially the SPI in headhunters?
The photo-reactive came used by SPI was developed independently of the Active Camo AA.
I always use jet pack sprint and active camouflage evade.
My favorite is armor lock.
The sprint functionality should be unlimited like halo 5
It's unlimited in Halo 5 and Infinite.
Okay since when was the elite jump jet usable? Been playing this game for 9 years and I had no idea
Always, you just grab the Jetpack ability while being an Elite
Armor Lock + Vibranium
thanks for making a video about something everyone already knows
Camouflage is useless in grunt apocalypse
I always thought that most armor abelites were thoroughly used throughout the games past reach in the lore except the games never show them because of gameplay balancing reasons but they still would make an appearance lorewise
another point i think the evade module is purely a gameplay item and doesnt exist lore wise because there is no reason to think an elite or spartan cant barrel roll without the help of a module thats wack
I hope with mods the Spectre, Brute Chopper, Hornet, Shadow, BR, SMG, Bruteshot, Spike Nade, Zealots, Field Marshals, and Drones in Firefight, the Bloodblade, SAW, Sticky Detonator, and more make it into Halo Reach.
Oh believe me they will
*evolution of halo 3's equipment* even though reach is in the past. Wanted to put this out. Not being angry with you Mr. Canon.
By evolution, he means gameplay evolution.
He literally explained this in the video.
It's an evolution from a gameplay standpoint.
I use evade in firefight
Will the MCC remember your armor you purchased in the original Halo Reach?
Rookie ODST most likely not
Nop.
American Spartan 117 - ok thanks spartan
Theyll more than likely have every armor set in reach mcc to unlock in some way
I don't think that your data from Xbox will transfer to the PC cuz steam.
armorlock
I'm all for canonization of certain aspects of the games, but canonizing the sprint armor ability? That just seems kind of dumb
Most of the people that hate armor lock just don't know how to use it
ARMOR LOCK ARMOR LOCK ARMOR LOCK
like if you remember this from Arby n Chief
Never use armor lock on legendary in firefight
RANDOM COMMENT I LIKE HALO
Honestly sprinting should of been in the games sooner. Theres no reason a spartan cant do it. And they do in the books.
Robert Harris Master Chief is shown running in cutscenes. So the “Spartans don’t sprint” argument is nonsense.
Just because they can do it in the books doesnt necessarily mean they should be able to sprint in-game. I love the lore, but it shouldn't be a driver for gameplay.
you know whats grate
armor lock
I have always always ALWAYS hated that Bungie felt they just HAD to have an in canon explanation for sprint. The explanation is just so stupid. You develop augmented super soldier to operate performance enhancing armor only for that armor to have restrictions on running speed?
There are so many retcons i hate in Reach but this is possibly the one I hate most. Its so unnecessary and adds absolutely nothing to story or lore in any conceivable way
Well yeah, Spartans can run faster than the usually 36mph, but they limit their speed so they don’t fucking die. The restrictions are probably on there to make sure they don’t exceed 36mph and dont injure or kill themselves
sprint belongs in halo
Ok boomer
A Piece Of Wet Cardboard no u
Sprint is great and should stay in Halo.
Galatians 4:16
No
But we all know this and you probably already did this kind of video in the past
Did I? Do you recall which vid?
@@HaloCanon Didn't find anything. i must be mistaken with other halo youtubers sorry my dude. While searching I found out that you didn't really touched Reach since recently.
Armor lock is the worst.. once blocked a guy cause his game tag is Iusearmorlock .. what a jerk
i see that dude on there all the time still and i play reach every day
i agree with your description of him and i myself never use armor lock, i tell my girl she shouldn't either but she insists on it because she keep getting killed
Armor Abilities were the single worst addition to the Halo franchise. To this day we still have not fully recovered from the damage Reach did to the core formula in Halo's sandbox. I'll never forgot the million+ player count we had consistently in H3 be cut by more than half once Reach was out for a few months. Sprint and Abilities do not belong in Halo's multiplayer.
Solely blaming armor abilities on Reach's player count difference is very short sighted, to say the least. Halo 3 was the Halo series peak, it sold a lot more copies than Reach overall and by the time Reach was released the Halo series was unfortunately struggling to stay relevant with other more "modern" fps games like CoD and Battlefield taking its place (these very same franchises are now struggling to remain relevant as well and this is simply how video game cycles work).
Furthermore, there were many online playlists in Reach that featured very limited loadout selections with only a couple of AAs, so the AAs that people were exposed to were dependent on what game types they played. my opinion at least, AAs were a great addition to the series and they made a lot of custom games incredibly fun, they just did not belong in the competitive scene since they were so hard to properly balance.
@Autismo Are we just going to pretend they didn't add a tone of new weapons and vehicles to the game? At the time of its launch, Reach had the largest sandbox of any Halo game.
reach has the best multiplayer of any halo game
Pfft this series is for noobs!! #FINISHEDallHALOSonCONSOLonLEGENDARY
What sci-fi game is gonna be cooler than Halo? Lol none.
