It's mostly the UNSC's mentality of "if it works, why change it?", this combined with the fact that in the UNSC, the space Navy take precedence over planetside forces in terms of funding and the fact that the UNSC hasn't really been in a relatively large scale war in little over 300 years (2170-2492) means there hasn't been that much of a call to improve planetside equipment as much as spaceborn assets to help with colonization expansion.
.50 cal seems to be the preferred caliber, which makes sense considering the enemies the UNSC encountered in the books possessed incredible stamina and resilience. I loved the original Halo books, especially First Strike.
I think I see a mistake. The Mongoose goes up to 59 mph/95 kph. That would make it slower than the Scorpion. I think the Mongoose was supposed to be 95 mph, and Halo has just never fixed this.
Because that thing wasn't a MAC. It technically wasn't even a weapon. It's what's called a mass driver, or electromagnetic catapult. It uses the same operating principle as a MAC; a coilgun that magnetically accelerates its payload. It was originally designed for use in developing colonies as a means of orbital lifting, but later repurposed into a variety of roles such as firing nuclear waste into the sun, or as mining equipment. The mass driver in Aszod was probably used to break down ships too large to fit inside the facility into smaller pieces while they were still in orbit, or to send tools and other equipment into orbit for shipbreaking crews to use in space.

uh, no the spnkr does not reduce carry weight, if anything, it vastly increases weight because the part of the weapon you don't throw out is almost just the trigger and the latch. its literally like carrying multiple rocket launchers.
The fact that Bungie and 343 Industries went so in depth to define every detail of every aspect within the Halo Universe is amazing. From the materials that bullets are made from, to the sensor moduling and fueling of vehicles, even the forms of which battle logistics and war combat formations are practiced, it is just so damn amazing. Not to forget including companies and corporations to mimic realism and give off a detailing atmosphere as if it were all true to exist. It almost makes it seem like the Halo Universe is an actual thing that might exist to some degree and with that proud attraction, it is just fascinating.
Funny thing is about the Longswords, they are a multi-purpose vehicle in the Halo series. They can carry a payload of UNSC troops in the lower bay of the spacecraft if all Pelican Dropships are active on missions. They can also carry supplies or weapons in the bay as well because of how large the bay is just below the bridge of the Longsword. But when on serious missions like during The Battle for Earth in *Halo 2: Anniversary* and in *Halo 3: Anniversary,* no passengers or supplies can be carried due to the spacecraft entering evasive maneuvers when under attack or being shot at which would cause the Longsword crew/supplies below the bridge to be thrown around the entire bay.
How on Earth does the Scorpion function effectively with just one crew? Yes I get it has an auto-loader and lots of canons, but the Russian T-14 Armata has the same setup without anyone in the turret and yet still has to have 3 crew to balance out tasks efficiently.

Must be cheaper to produce I think & stick with what works. Rail & coil gun technology is prone to EMP attacks due to thier open-design to keep them cool from overheating.
To be fair, it's hard to hit and if it does take a hit, it just takes the turret off. Technicly speaking if it's desig Ed to do that and to have quick change turret rings it could actually be a good idea

Jingle Baza it’s a small misnomer in all the games. The CE magnum does fire the longer 40mm one, but none of the other magnum models have the magazine capacity to fit the round.
Love re-watching this and it's counter part but one thing I never understand is why the Troop hog isn't in forge or the more recent games. I think it would work better in Halo 5 than that scout version, Maybe in the next game.
Hmm, I thought from the soundbites of the weapon that the Target Designator was calling in Army or Marine Corps artillery rather than an orbital bombardment.
You would think the UNSC would be diligent about shipping all weapon components, especially the charger for useful, powerful, limited, and expensive Spartan Lasers. I would also think it takes a lot of time to build them, too.
What I wonder is The scorpion fires a 90mm tungston round Modern day tanks fire 120mm tungston rounds, some nations even using depleted uranium for extra penetrating power. Many next gen tank designers are seriously considering upgrading the caliber of tank cannons to 140mm, as they simply cant squeeze any more penetrating power out of the 120mm rounds. What kind of magical 90mm tungston round are the UNSC using that allows the performance to be satisfactory? I NEED ANSWERS

Anything "gauss" is exactly that. The ships make heavy use of the technology
JJ There is a misconception around with Gauss and Railgun being the same thing. They do the same thing, but in a different way.
@@Nevirate The only railgun I know of that the UNSC uses is the
Asymmetric Recoilless Carbine-920 from halo 4. the rest are coil guns
Must be cheaper to produce I think & stick with what works. Rail & coil gun technology is prone to EMP attacks due to thier open-design to keep them cool from overheating.
Tristan Backup Good point, but all of the vehicles can recover from EMPs. Obviously it’s for gameplay reasons.
Man, still love that intro, cool as hell
The turret neck of this tank is horribly vulnerable from a design standpoint but I love how angled the armor is
To be fair, it's hard to hit and if it does take a hit, it just takes the turret off. Technicly speaking if it's desig Ed to do that and to have quick change turret rings it could actually be a good idea
Wouter Sikkema nah fam the scorpion turret Ned’s a in game lore design change.
In Halo Misriah armory made a lot of United Nations Space Command weapons and vehicles 98% is made by Misriah armory well they needed weapons and vehicles to fight the Covenant better then spears. Also I thought the Saber (YS-1000) was kinda neat.
I think you got IWCS mixed up.
I think it is ICWS.
I didn't realize how big the ammunition was for the sniper. And those gauss cannon rounds are fucking FAST
What I would love to see in a future Halo game, that you could choose, for customization, which Generation of Spartan you play as, with some diffrent abilities or so
can we all just agree the the Spartan Laser is one of the most badass sci fi weapon any any videogame?
I love your videos man! You are so under rated. 👌👍
I just realised, With mods for Reach PC, We might be able to have 'Foehammer Simulater' where we fly across a battlefield evacuating, deploying, resupplying or recovering troops, Sort of like the BlackWatch support missions from Prototype 1
How come with Halo CE you get a machine gun next to the cannon that you could use but in all the other halos you can't
I'm willing to bet the gauss cannon has more muzzle energy than the Scorpion's cannon, but there's no number for its muzzle velocity. It only says "hyper-velocity".
The M6G fires 12.7x30mm not x40
Jingle Baza it’s a small misnomer in all the games. The CE magnum does fire the longer 40mm one, but none of the other magnum models have the magazine capacity to fit the round.
Love your channel and can't wait to see more
That intro is quite intense.
I hate how the warthog and the other ground vehicles were retconned into having ICEs. Atleast the aircraft kept their futuristic powerplants.
Can't wait to hear about the convent arms
Damn, the UNSC arsenal is just our arsenal but a little bit better.
Or worse, depending on how you look at it
Love re-watching this and it's counter part but one thing I never understand is why the Troop hog isn't in forge or the more recent games. I think it would work better in Halo 5 than that scout version, Maybe in the next game.
12.0L nitro fueled engine and a 78mph top speed?
Yep sounds like an AMG
Hmm, I thought from the soundbites of the weapon that the Target Designator was calling in Army or Marine Corps artillery rather than an orbital bombardment.
Do more of these types of videos but for different halo games
Great video, the covenant video will be a good addition!!!! Pls do an armory video with the different variants from a master chief halo game.
You would think the UNSC would be diligent about shipping all weapon components, especially the charger for useful, powerful, limited, and expensive Spartan Lasers. I would also think it takes a lot of time to build them, too.
Yooo my favorite halo reach track right away
At 2:49 for the DMR you left the Caliber of the ammo the same as the Magnum 12.7x40mm while you say it fires a 7.62x51.
Can’t wait for the Halo 3 versions of this video.
I thought this was pretty interesting watch. Love to see the covies side to it!
What I wonder is
The scorpion fires a 90mm tungston round
Modern day tanks fire 120mm tungston rounds, some nations even using depleted uranium for extra penetrating power.
Many next gen tank designers are seriously considering upgrading the caliber of tank cannons to 140mm, as they simply cant squeeze any more penetrating power out of the 120mm rounds.
What kind of magical 90mm tungston round are the UNSC using that allows the performance to be satisfactory?
