- Halo 5: Guardians is undoubtedly the most maligned of 343 Industries’ efforts with the Halo series, a game which is not viewed altogether fondly by most.
It definitely has its dark spots, I’d be the first to acknowledge that, but there is the occasional bright patch too, and hopefully, by the end of this video, we’ll be able to better identify which parts of Halo 5 fit into each category.
An additional note too - Meridian Station, Alliance and Before The Storm are not included in this ranking, as they all consist entirely of walking around talking to NPCs. The rest are, from a list of:

Breaking always makes me feel like the Library, but the whole level was straighten into a line, and instead of the Flood you're now fighting Prometheus.

I always thought that swords of Sanghelio’s was the best missions in halo 5 guardians, I wish we had more of this in the game!
I'd have to say the three Sengheilios levels we get. They're quite fun and provide some visual context for one of the most iconic enemies in Halo.
I haven't played Halo 5 in years (and I doubt I ever will again), but I genuinely enjoyed the levels on Sanghelios, for the most part. I just wish they had been with Master Chief, I would have loved to see him reunited with the Arbiter.
If Halo 5 comes out onto PC or something, I think we should all play it again! (you're definitely a pretty big Halo fan if you're watching Ben :D ) but I agree Halo 5 doesn't leave a huge craving to replay like the original trilogy did. Still, give H5 another couple years and I'd be happy to visit it again!

Any mission to do with Sangheilios is the best in my opinion. When I first played Guardians, I was in awe of Sangheilios and its culture. Wish we could return someday.
Battle of Sunaion was pretty cool! I love the architecture it reminds me of High Charity, best depicted in that H2 level Gravemind.
I enjoyed spartan ops for the xp and story in 4, sure it was overly repetitive etc but I really like the way they continued the story for the unsc on requim and fleshed out jul m'damas covenant. It was so disappointing seeing them just off him in the first mission without any build up and cast aside as if he was a minor side character.

I wasn't too big of a fan of the Halo 5 campaign but what I did enjoy was the Multiplayer- or should I say, Warzone (Not the Warzone from Call of Groomers/Pedos, formally known as Call of Duty) and custom games. I game pretty much solo now, in any game, no friends are present. Just me dealing with not so smart people on my team- in any game I should say. Maybe once in a blue moon, I'll come across a friend but again, that's a maybe.
But WAY back a long while before Covid, like 3 or 4 years before Covid- or more I should say. I played Halo 5 Warzone with my old friends and played the heck out of Custom Games, and sometimes Arena. I remember we always did a deathrun map or hide and seek, whatever we felt like tbh. And we always tried to make it to the end of the deathrun (Which didn't happened that much 😂) and it was terrifying to do hide and seek 😂. I enjoyed Halo 5's Multiplayer and Custom Games. I wasn't good but I enjoyed it (I can probably do pretty decent now, if not actually good). But like 1 or 2 years the start of Covid, my friends on Xbox started to stop playing with me and the friend group I was in. They still get on and have me added but we just stopped playing all together. I started getting older and I used to be a toxic squeaker as a kid. But as I got older and turned into a young teen in the mid 2010s, my voice became more deeper, I became more laid back and chill- I wasn't the toxic kid who had a high pitch squeaker voice anymore. I was this guy who didn't get ticked off easily and who's voice was like a middle aged man. My friends noticed that and a few didn't like it, a few didn't care. I think they hated the fact I was growing up quicker than them and I wasn't so easily triggered. They didn't pick on me on purpose, just goofed but I was easily triggered. Once I a blood moon (And blood moons ar extremely rare), I'll hop on with a few old friends and chat for like an hour but that's only if I ask to join or they ask me to join. I remember being spammed invites on the Xbox One. Now, I hardly see an invite. I'm a lone wolf gamer, and I'm a loner anyways. Do I miss what was up? Yes, I wish I could go back. But do I have anyone to hang out with? I don't think I do
The Sanghelios missions are great and I enjoy the final mission when you run down the guardian
The thing is I can name every level from 1,2,3, ODST and Reach… can only name 2 or 3 levels from 4…. 5 I can’t remember any

I think the best one was the first mission on Sanghelios. Primarily because the covenant in general just plays better than the prometheans.
Ive played the Halo games dozens of times. Halo 5 only once, just to say that i had. Nice to revisit it in totality here. I saw nothing that made me want to go through it again.

Unpopular opinion but I loved halo 5 as it was the first halo game I played and I have many fond memories with it
Great video, though I disagree with the statement starting at 21:58. Any of the missions in Halo 5 are better than any of the ones in Halo Infinite and all but the first three or four missions in Halo 4. For a 343 game, it's the best of the three. No where near as good as bungie, but not that bad. (NOT talking about the story here, just how missions play out). Promethians aren't as bad to play against in Halo 5 as 4, so that's why I think 5 is better). For story, though, Halo 5 is bad. Not as bad as Infinite, but still bad. 343 can't write to save their lives.
Maybe I should give this game a playthrough [looks suspiciously at MCC on Steam]

It would of been nice if they continued to use exuberant. Like a new guilty spark. But nope. I wonder how they killed her off.
the best level was the one with the credits as it ended that travesty of a game.
I also always forget about the AI uprising and guardians, A bit of shark jumping but definitely had potential and could be very cool how they set the AI up with control over the guardians, Big potential for some awesome huge scale bat... And then they just dropped that plot entirely in the next game, literally relegated to piecemeal background exposition. I dont see how anyone, whether they blindly love either of these games, or even 4, could still defend 343 and still think they should be making Halo content.

I agree with every choice in this video except for genesis, i didn’t find this level enjoyable especially on legendary.
This guy is right, however... he forgets the fact that 5's cutscenes are quite beautiful. And to defend the chief vs locke fight, at first, chief is simply trying to get the better on locke. When he notices the device, he tried to, and succeeded in neutralising the threat. He then keeps his eyes focused on locke. Before he was pulling his punches, analysing locke's patterns, but then he goes full spartan. The only reason why he wasn't throwing locke around is because locke is another human being. Chief was fully aware that if locke were tossed around, he would go off of the edge, falling down to his death.
he clearly respects locke as a spartan (as he does with any soldier), he was intentionally never doing anything other than slowing him down
locke also wasn’t trying to kill chief either
@@KingBossBob indeed. But Chief didn't know that. For all Chief knew, that could have been a new grenade of some sort. But again, neutralising a threat doesn't mean killing it. That's called Terminating.

There are 2 good moments in this game. 1: when the trials kicks in on mission 14, and 2: when it ends.

On a serious note: I prefer 5 to 4 but it’s like saying I prefer showering with mud or bathing in dirt.
The trials is one of the most goated tracks in all of halo imo. Very underrated.

This would probably a better topic to discuss in your which Halo is the best video, but I just thought of it, and I don’t remember if you mentioned this, so bear with me.
While not necessarily a fault of Halo 5, but rather Halo’s second trilogy as a whole, a big problem I have with 343’s trilogy is there is no overarching villain like in the first trilogy. The Prophet of Truth and the Covenant served as a clear and identifiable threat in Halo’s original trilogy. In the second trilogy, there isn’t. Ur Didact dies in 4, Cortana gets deleted(?) in 5, and then the Banished are the main antagonists in Infinite. If Ur Didact served as the main villain for 343’s trilogy, it could have given the story more focus rather than it just feeling like the UNSC and Master Chief are putting out a set of small, yet dangerous, fires from spreading. Ur Didact could also work with the Covenant remnant’s leader so we don’t have to fight against a bunch of prometheans for three games.
So much meh. I do commend that you are certainly more positive on Halo 5 than I am. So much of the Campaign feels like a chore.
I will give 343 all the credit for environmental storytelling. The little touches around Argent Moon, Meridian, and Sanghelios are fantastic and the cute animations on the enemies in Exuberant’s zoo in Guardians are delightful.
In fact, thinking of how good the environments look and how much the team really cared about the lore, it makes me wish that their management was a bit more down to Earth so they could’ve used that energy into the game design and proper storytelling. As it stands, their work feels like isolated bright spots from a group that couldn’t see the forest for the highly detailed and 100,000 year old trees.
Whenever you start to wonder if Halo 5 is as bad as you remember it being, it’s actually worse.

To be entirely fair to 5, i've never played it. I've never even watched a full play through of it.
All i knew was after the taste 4 left in my mouth, if it looked like it was going to be more of the same meal, i wasn't going to take a bite.

Agree. Halo 4 is mostly a good Halo with some major exceptions to it's overall decent quality, and Halo 5 is bad overall with some major exceptions to it's overall terrible quality.

The only Halo game ever I didn't like very much. Halo Infinite was certainly far better! No DLC though, Halo is done for at least 5-10 years! Xbox is moribund as well!
The fact that the story they made over 343s trash games was finished offscreen in infinite. And then infinite was extremely bland is just such a pathetic situation. I don’t know why you waste your breath and great video making trying to talk good about the company that ruined halo and wouldn’t give to craps about you an true fan and fair person. I just cannot believe how insulting it is. Fans are so vocal with what we want and halo lore and previous work and games is everywhere. It shouldn’t be hard for company with millions. I didn’t even remember any names of the levels from this list. Obviously there is a bright spot or 2 but that’s it. 343 can make games the multiplier for 5 was fun, but it’s not halo. And I compare people who talk up 343 games and shit season passes and awful gameplay that takes them months upon months up to years to release after the game has already been out as “good for halo” the same as UA-camrs that get paid by EA to talk good things about the new Madden every year. This franchise needs a new parent to take this franchise back to glory. I recommend starting fresh and just shredding the crap 343 has made. Trying to save this amazing franchise. I’m not sure how much more people can take #fire343 yea I said everyone I forget about it you try to say something good about the games I praise you for that it’s to hard for myself lol

It's so baffling how 343 makes every game worse retroactively with every new game. 4 is worse because 5 throws out so much of it's emotional resonance. 5 is so much worse because Infinite throws out its story and worldbuilding almost entirely. Not having a plan (Or, having a plan and not sticking to it) has been the absolute bane of 343s existence.
Trick question, the "best" level in Halo 5 is turning off Halo 5 and playing a Bungie Halo instead.
