Good example for a Drop change in DnB is taking a classic Dancefloor track and drop into Neurofunk or JumpUp. Works wonders during a generic Dancefloor set to change up the energy.

To make the transition smoother I always have at least 4 hot cues at the beginning of the track and sequentially jump backwards making the track less and less busy as Im transitioning out. It also gives me a "fire escape" if something goes really wrong and I need a loop that doesnt sound like a loop.

As always excellent quality content!❤️🔥 Mixing with 3 decks was a game changer for me. It’s just that moment of having of two awesome loops on 2 decks and rolling with that as the instrumental for the 3rd track. Mixed in key or not. I would love to see you do a video on adding a modular synth or drum machine to one of your setups. I recently had the experience in a jam session and totally was digging the vibe and it also widened the sound and produced some amazing bass effects whilst still being in control thanks to mixing with stems. Keep up the amazingness!

But you've got talent, you're beautiful / dare I say sexy, and you move beautifully and express yourself when you play. If you release regular content - let's say a 30 minute mix (perhaps even use AI or someting to create cool backgrounds, or even get out about) and then repurpose those mixes into short form snippets pushing across all platforms and directing people to your YT, you'll take off, like bigger than I'll ever get. You have the ingredients, I totally see you as successful. I think if we were on a line up you'd be a hard act to follow and if I was a promoter and I had a choice wether to book you or me, I'd book you, you've got this girl! Dream big - year of the Dragon, time to take what;s yours and see the world how a Dragon would - no time for human BS, go for what you want, get it, and if you don't, it wasn't meant to be. But you sharing hour sound with thousands, is meant to be.

Love the double drop examples, I would like a more in-depth video on those over replacing the drop actually. You were doing a lot of filter and echo together and I’d like to hear more about combined effects like that.
i do not do drop mixing much but again if i find something that works that way and i know it will blow up in the right place then ok.Much of what i play has break downs verses chorus etc .Then theres all the mostly instrumental stuff as well.How hard or soft i go depends on the floor and the time.

Fast energy mixing video would be really useful. My go-to genres to mix as a beginner are progressive house and techno, so am used to mixing longer transitions. But I also love to mix big cheezy floor fillers which don't have much of an intro or outro which requires a lot more concentration. Will be trying the double drops and drop swap technique for sure to mix things up as complacency is settling in

hell no long mixes on beat with the drums slapping over each other and sometimes flipping back to the other track's kick drums riding on top is my favorite. when you get to the bangers in the end of the set, you should mix even longer if you can keep them together😊 for 2 to 3 minutes it usually is the sickest sound just start mixing after a drum roll or a 16 bar starts, sounds good dj. i dont like to replace the 2nd drop maybe the second to last and mix til the end

Please do a video on faster energy mixing! That’s actually the way that I need to mix most of the time (melodic bass) and I would love some advice on how to make it smoother.
For me it depends on the genre and the setting. For example, when I do wedding gigs, during reception/dinner, I'll usually play the full song since most people are not really paying attention and I'm usually playing some mix of lounge/jazz music. But for the after party or if I'm playing something high energy but repetitive, I'll do quicker mixes, maybe 1.5-2 minutes per song.
9:00 playing two tracks together would be like playing Black Sabbath, FX over some techno, Or Black Sabbath,Embryo interspersely in Walk like an Egyptian, or maybe that one would sound wicked as an intro, since it's only :30, may need a neat scream between the two, like the one at the beginning of Is That You, from KISS, because the Sabbath tune and The Bangles song aren't at the same bpm
of course live mashup are easier as you can get to the relevant parts with cue points and also loop other parts if needed .The stems has also meant dj have a bit more freedom to get two tunes more intimate in the mix
mashups on the fly requires some practice and growing a pair.but as you are mixing two tracks together longer the timing needs to be quick and accurate.Find the tunes that will work as live mashups will mean lots of practice and research at home.Experiment time.This gets very cool now we have stems
I sometimes cue point to a point further along via a chorus or instrumental section thats repeated and many do not notice if there is a missing verse.Sometimes i got to that cue point and mix .Sometimes i just press the cue point depending on the song .Once there i can do an intro outro mix and the crowd will have got a big slice of the song and the transition may seem more natural but it does rather depend on the song and how i shorten it depends on the song but with cue points you can get to the bits you want to play quickly.Sometimes you just jump off after a verse into the next tune .Sometimes a chop will do if both are lyric heavy sometimes a blend between instrumentals works well but waiting till one song ends and then bringing the next in over lets say four beats is a bit lazy and people will hear less tunes because its getting to the bits they know that matters and cutting out anything that will kill a vibe ,a dance floor a flow.When i used vinyl then on a lot of pop i would get to the instrumental section or maybe a second verse and then bring the next song in.If people wanted more of a song then i might use doubles here and there to shorten songs a bit so as to cut any duff bits but not too much.

Faster energy mixing please. I have done the beginner and advanced courses and cant thank you enough. I have tried to mix 90s hardcore i grew up with and struggle to say the least. No long intros and outros, just busy all the way through the track. Look forward to it thanks :)
when it comes to pop rand b and hip hop with lots of lyrics then cue point chops and quick transitions on two to four beats but of mixing on the one with vocal heavy stuff is the way to go
when one or both tracks are less busy or at least at the drop point then one can do some rather interesting stuff but timing and key has to be on point.
Question: Do you have any suggestions on how you pick your next song based on the key? I know you can go +1/-1 key, +2/-2 key or even +5/-5 key. When planning a set, do you have any theory to how you configure the keys? Example: 1A, 1A, 3A, 2A, 4A, 9A
Hey so I’m so expert but I have been djing in clubs for over 5 years. My experience whilst djing more “commercial clubs” so playing every genre is you don’t really have to worry about mixing In key, your main job is to keep that dance floor vibing and keeping them in the club buying drinks. Buuuut, when you get booked to play let’s say a “house set” then yes mixing in keys becomes very important as it makes more clean mixes! So it all depends on what the gig is I guess :) Hope that helps
after chorus mixing is a main stay .Sometimes just one sometimes after two or cut to the second chorus a nd then go onto the next .When doing this the structure of the songs is important .Its also good to have the unexpected popping up and variety especially at more open gigs is a good thing.By the way there is a fantastic mix between Slave To Love and Hotel California that works really well in the right place.It works best with the long version of slave to Love.The look on peoples faces is a joy

mashups on the fly requires some practice and growing a pair.but as you are mixing two tracks together longer the timing needs to be quick and accurate.Find the tunes that will work as live mashups will mean lots of practice and research at home.Experiment time.This gets very cool now we have stems

What's the track coming in at 3.10 please?
I sometimes cue point to a point further along via a chorus or instrumental section thats repeated and many do not notice if there is a missing verse.Sometimes i got to that cue point and mix .Sometimes i just press the cue point depending on the song .Once there i can do an intro outro mix and the crowd will have got a big slice of the song and the transition may seem more natural but it does rather depend on the song and how i shorten it depends on the song but with cue points you can get to the bits you want to play quickly.Sometimes you just jump off after a verse into the next tune .Sometimes a chop will do if both are lyric heavy sometimes a blend between instrumentals works well but waiting till one song ends and then bringing the next in over lets say four beats is a bit lazy and people will hear less tunes because its getting to the bits they know that matters and cutting out anything that will kill a vibe ,a dance floor a flow.When i used vinyl then on a lot of pop i would get to the instrumental section or maybe a second verse and then bring the next song in.If people wanted more of a song then i might use doubles here and there to shorten songs a bit so as to cut any duff bits but not too much.

I have tried to mix 90s hardcore i grew up with and struggle to say the least.
No long intros and outros, just busy all the way through the track.

when it comes to pop rand b and hip hop with lots of lyrics then cue point chops and quick transitions on two to four beats but of mixing on the one with vocal heavy stuff is the way to go
need that video about drops! its hard cause the tracks have so different energies, I do not know how to match them correctly

when one or both tracks are less busy or at least at the drop point then one can do some rather interesting stuff but timing and key has to be on point.

Question: Do you have any suggestions on how you pick your next song based on the key? I know you can go +1/-1 key, +2/-2 key or even +5/-5 key.
When planning a set, do you have any theory to how you configure the keys?
Example: 1A, 1A, 3A, 2A, 4A, 9A
Hey so I’m so expert but I have been djing in clubs for over 5 years. My experience whilst djing more “commercial clubs” so playing every genre is you don’t really have to worry about mixing In key, your main job is to keep that dance floor vibing and keeping them in the club buying drinks.
Buuuut, when you get booked to play let’s say a “house set” then yes mixing in keys becomes very important as it makes more clean mixes!
So it all depends on what the gig is I guess :)

after chorus mixing is a main stay .Sometimes just one sometimes after two or cut to the second chorus a nd then go onto the next .When doing this the structure of the songs is important .Its also good to have the unexpected popping up and variety especially at more open gigs is a good thing.By the way there is a fantastic mix between Slave To Love and Hotel California that works really well in the right place.It works best with the long version of slave to Love.The look on peoples faces is a joy
Great advice. But why is your crossfader not mixing both tracks?
It's turned off, I am only use volume faders to mix - check the signals on the mixer
