- When Paul Simon began recording "There Goes Rhymin' Simon" at Alabama's Muscle Shoals Sound Studio, he was unsure which tracks to lay down first. He left the decision to the studio musicians, and their selection went on to become one of Simon's greatest works.
In this clip, Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section members Roger Hawkins and David Hood describe the laid-back approach that made their studio so successful.

....Wow, that’s cool... thanx guys (all four)!
The Swampers have had such a monstrous affect on so many great artists' albums that I'm not sure that it's possible to really quantify it with out going through their entire discography and listening to all the tracks they are on! It's one of the most impressive lists of music you'll ever see!!! Almost unbelieve!!!!
IMac nerb
Well Muscle Shoals has got The Swampers, and they've been known to play a song or two
Thank you so much for showing that creativity don't need no process.
Love the triva. Thanks David and Roger. Wish I had been there with all the great artist that recorded at Muscle Shoals. Lots of music history was made there.
Roger is one badass session drummer.
Word!
I love hearing the creative process..be t from session musicians, songwriters, or arrangers, as well as producers and the artists. Thanks.
Great song.
A lot of folks don't know that Paul Simon skipped on on quite a few studio bills, that he NEVER paid.
Thanks for the info --had no idea that's how record came about!
v interesting, thanks :)
Amen

Like the song, it blows 🤮 chunks
This is such a waste of an interview. I learned nothing from this useless conversation. "And then Paul wanted this song....And it was very casual" Who cares?
