very excited to see your progress with this car. I'm 63 and always loved those old mopars especially the Dart and especially those Hemi Darts. There's so much you can do with this car and really enjoy watching you do the things to go faster. I'm excited to see you race next season. I was hooked when I watched a 442 pop a wheelie racing a Charger right under my window of the apartment complex I lived in in the late 1960s, Brooklyn New York. Great idea doing the full cage and going to a pro, it looks great, really pro work, clean, neat and functional. the guy that owned the Charger had a GF living in the building her window faced the same side, I guess he was doing it for her, man that was a long time ago.
I love you car! Your channel is great! Now for a full 3 in exhaust that looks stuck in the back. Electric cutouts to the side dumps! A la Max wedge style! Make it very quiet until you hit the cutouts! I watch a lot of car channels. Your car is my favorite car on the internet!!!
@@SimpsonsSpeedShop I had a hair raising moment in my 71 Demon. I was running low twelves around 116mph. My buddy with his 4 speed Duster asked if I had done a high speed plug check? I said no because I had the reverse valve body and the steering column lock still functional. I was worried about locking the steering at speed. We'll he talked me into it and I made a pass and killed the ignition and pushed the floor shifter into neutral. No problem! We decided to make another plug check and made another pass. We'll I had my palm on the shifter button and hit reverse at 116mph!! Yah hoo! Ridem cowboy! The guy I was racing was only a mid 13 second car so he was way back and stopped to watch my driving skills. I was sideways back and fourth about 5-6 times. I missed the guardrail and going off the track into the grass. I actually was thinking don't hit the grass because I might roll over and I didn't have a roll cage! I finally came to a stop facing the starting line. I guess my tires were smoking per my buddy and they thought I blew up and spun out in my oil? The emergency truck came down and I started my car and went down the return road for my time slip!! 12.20 @ 116mph! Sideways! The only thing I ruined were my slicks. The sidewall cords were showing. Funny thing was I found out that two other 340 Duster guys did the same thing at the other local tracks! Untill I got my 340 Duster that ran 11.50's I never shifted into neutral again. Never had a rollbar either in that car. Looking back I think trap speed should be the requirements for roll cages. Maybe 100 mph? SHIT HAPPENS!😀
like the video was thinking of buying a kit but after seeing yours i will get one built my dart is very much like yours but with 512 bb caltraks, mini tubbed, 83/4, with a hdk suspensions front a arm and coil over with rack keep up the good work thanks
Wow cage looks great! Guy did awesome job and sooooooooooo clean , wow now I see why y wanted someone else to do it and even painted it while installing! 😋
Nice cage, looks great man! I bet you can't wait until spring. I'm finally taking my car to the track Friday night...it's perfect weather and great for racing here in South Florida for the next 5 months.
Cool car you have. Although I wonder what the purpose of the tubing around the door. It doesn't seem like it would play a significant role in tension or compression to keep the integrity of the roof in the case of a rollover. I get it if protects from T-boning. Cars normally have decent side impact protection but because this is an old car maybe it was required to put it on. This car doesn't seem to be a daily driven car because of the noise, rear tires and the hood scoop. Still a cage not so intrusive can help with daily driving and having accessible back seats.
The door bars help to stiffen the chassis overall. This is a race car that I drive on the street. The cage was required as the car is too fast to not have a cage at the track to pass tech
wow she is lookin sweet sounded like a big block to me i pssed a 70 cuda 360 for years bout twice a week first time passing me up close i almost wrecked just staring at this car lub scooter d
Nice ride! Have you tried taking out your backseat yet with the cage? I have a duster that needs a cage but gotta be able to remove my backseat. Haven't solved that problem yet
I love your GTS. I have a 66 Impala and want to do the same style cage but I cannot find any good internet examples of a Welded Cage to Full Frame. Everything I see is unibodies. Like your car, mine is a rust free beauty too and I want to do it right the first time and maintain the interior. Any pointers on how to find the right person/company to do it?
Lol @ 8:56... like they wouldn't know by the exhaust. 😆 Cage looks great, and you gave some good tips, too. Just curious... how many ricer's are stupid enough to rev on you at a light, or do they just do the usual Chicken S*** fly by?
Thanks for the video. I have a 72 dart that has the frame rail connectors installed. I'm thinking about putting a 600 hp w2 motor in the car. Will probably not take it to the track. Just a street car. Do I need a cage to prevent the body from twisting? I don't want to put one in if it's not really needed. Thanks for any info.
I know I’m super late on this.. but are rear down bars / d bars like that legal? From everything I’ve seen they’re supposed to be mounted to the tunnel. I’m wanting them more like yours so I can have a single seat in the back, between the bars. Let me know if you can.
I plan on ether getting a full fibreglass ones and painting it or use my fibreglass gts hood that is already painted with a tunnel ram or blower sticking out
@@SimpsonsSpeedShop hmm was some time ago , but cost me $1,700 installed i may have gotten a deal back then. I am having a good laugh on A -Body page where a bunch of people did NOT Listen to you in video when you were explaining the cage install hehe
Looks awesome and always helps when your camera - crew chief approves.. What month does your track open?? Going to keep an eye out for your winter up grades👍👍
Hate to be a pain not sure how to contact you besides in the comments but I’m building a copy car engine that you have and don’t want to order the wrong things so was wondering if you could send me part numbers for lifters and the information for the pushrods live the car and show btw
Hey bud glad you like the build I don’t have the part number for lifters on me but you should be able to jump on there site and find the ones you need, lifter bore sizing may be different. I would just give them a call and same thing for push rod. Sizing maybe diffent due to deck hight you will have to measure yours for sure.
The bent door bars compromise the cars durability in a wreck.. the straightness makes it a hell of a lot stiffer.. it’s meant to keep you safe no comfortable…
You don't need to see the cage to know it means business. The exhaust note is a pretty good indicator.
Ya true. Solid roller for the win!
I’m a welder and I think that cage is gorgeous!
👍🏻
Whoever put that cage in done a good job always better to have a professional do a custom job especially on such a nice car as yours love it
Solid car. You'll notice the difference with the cage. Stiffens things up a lot. Keep up the good work.
Just even it running in the drive way the car feels tighter. Thanks for watching
Congrats from Ontario the car is really coming over on can't wait to see next year's racing season
Hell ya bro. I can’t wait for spring. Wheels up!

Beautiful job on the cage, compliments the rest of the car.
Right on! thanks for watching
I love that you put the interior back in. I’m not sure what you paid for that cage work, but it was worth every penny. It looks gorgeous
It was a good price too!
Nice, looks like a very high quality job. The chassis will be stiffer, the Tech guys happy but most importantly you'll be much safer. Cheers !!
Exactly! Thanks for watching
As usual a good quality job that looks great too! Safety first!

The cage will definitely stiffen the whole car. If it’s just a street car and your not launching it with slicks shouldn’t be a problem.
THANKS!
Who did the cage? we are building a 68 dart and are thinking about a kit cage but after seeing yours I think we need one. we are on the island too.
Right on man. A guy in Nanaimo did it. Great job done quick too! Reach me on Instagram and I’ll give you his details @joeyrocks
How much of the interior had to be removed to do the cage?
Btw. Awesome job
Carpets, seats lower kick pannels was all. Thanks for watching

That turned out awesome.
Is the nhra certification an one off deal ? Or a re-occurring procecess ?
I believe you have to get re certified every few years. I still have yet to get certified
Nice, clean, tight install!! Maybe some nitrous in the near future????
Not with these pistons! Need some forge ones for that. Thanks for watching
Dont worry, once you hit them with some nitrous, they will forge themselves Maybe not the type of forging you would be expecting though. 😁😁😁
I see you got b.c plates, who did the cage if you don't mind me asking?
A guy in Nanaimo named Dave Tremble if I remember correctly.
wow impressed! WHAT Bucket Seats are those? aftermarke? Link? OR 70's Mopar Seats?
👍🏻 I believe they are from a 73 ish duster but maybe a dart sport. Thanks for watching
Clean...
👍🏻
Where did you get the hood?
Stock style hood I got from a car being parted out and I made the scoop myself out of aluminum.
Great work, finally u can go faster!
What tire size is that? MT Sportsmans 28" 11 ?
Street rears are N50 Cokers
Nice!!! How much weight did that add to the car, thanks
I don’t know. I should re weigh the car tho.
I'm curious if it will actually pass a 8.50 certification
Down bars would be the only issue. Gunna try to get it certed soon. Stay tuned!
do you plan on painting the hood someday ?
I plan on ether getting a full fibreglass ones and painting it or use my fibreglass gts hood that is already painted with a tunnel ram or blower sticking out
i had used chrome molly bar with another car, is that used to this day?
This is not chromoly bar. That is pricey.

8 points contact the floor/frame.
At what point will you be required to have the ugly parachute?
Haha not for a long time. I think it’s like 150+ mph in the 1/4 but not sure.
