Thank you Simon.
You are welcome !
Mission impossible? Simons the man!
Simon…it amazes me that JLR and others seem to find getting a USB socket so difficult because of “chip shortages”. Why??….why is there still this claimed “shortage” as surely production only stopped in March/April 2020 so three years ago! I can buy loads of things with USB sockets in them so I really am puzzled why car sockets should be so elusive? Answers on the back of a Chinese Takeaway!!!😵💫😵💫😀😀😀😀🤔🤔
When are we going to get a wireless charger for the range Rover Velar?
Are these new usb c ports supposed to light up? I did the install and they power devices fine, but they don’t light up.
I also noticed that none of the other power ports around the interior light up either, and now I can’t remember if they ever did or if this install changed something. The only ports that light up are the ones under the pivi front console.
It’s also worth mentioning the lighted power ports under the pivi front console did not light up until I hard reset the Pivi after install (by holding the power button for 10 seconds or so).
If you look the sockets have 3 connections on the rear plug - POSITIVE / NEGATIVE and ILLUMINATION
On the rear console Land Rover only use 2
Some of the power outlet sockets only have 2 pin so there is no illumination in the unit.
@@L663 Thanks!
OK here is a new issue with these connectors on a 2023 Defender X --
I have temporarily installed the USB-C component in place of the USB-A components that came with factory while I wait until I get the Y-harnesses from your team.
Here is the issue currently (again, without yet using the Y harness you are supplying, only replacing the rear USB-As with USB-Cs):
The replacement rear console USB-C component causes the illumination of the front seat components under the PiVi Pro to stop working. If I reset the Pivi Pro, they light up for that driving session, but then do not turn on the next time I start the car.
Do you think as a straight replacement at least, there is something in these new USB-C components that is disabling the illumination elsewhere in the illumination circuit chain? Will the Y-harness alleviate this once installed?
Please advise, thanks!
@@NickMartelli Hi - I saw your question and images come through the website today. This one puzzles me a little.
Can you check if your rear console connector has 3 wires coming to it or just 2
The Y splitter loom has only 2 wires populated just power and ground so should not impact the illumination circuit
I have not heard of this issue - but it may be that me and others did not spot it !
@@simonjefferson I’ll check it tonight! The interesting thing is that with a reset of the PiviPro, the illumination comes back for that driving session. So the extra wire might be the issue but it could be a software thing too.
Ok I did confirm there are only 2 wires. I’ll send a pic in email. So it must be a software issue. Something needs reset?
Too much hard work

Hi Simon, first?
Good try but seems Mr Virdi is top dog again !
So close but so far 😅 Classic car show next week at the NEC so I’m looking forward to that. Any news on the big garage or two post lift?
Thank you Simon. Order already placed. I cant wait to get mine as Ive been waiting for these looms. Thank you for another great video.
Thanks Bruce - any questions when the parts arrive let me know !
@@L663 thank you Simon.
Lovely job Simon 👍👍👍👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Does the dual loom accessory distribute wattage too? What’s the maximum wattage output with standard OEM loom compared to yours?
The loom is rated the same as the car loom so will cope with all power demands until the cat fuse blows !
