    Another dry useful video Simon and Destiny but it astounds me that JLR has deleted a simple plastic cover on the fuse box…WHY??? That the locking flap is deleted is very poor as well on a £90,000 car. Just what else is quietly deleted?? If I owned a Defender I would be buying your kit today but I have to say that I had a good look at them again and it is the physical size that is the problem for me…it is too big for the parking space at the Marina and too tall for Hilary to climb in. I like them but JLR has killed the Evoque /D/Sport (the dealer tells me that I can order a PHEV one but getting it takes “years”! Time to move on I fear which is very sad…. It to what is even more of a problem! Well done Simon…as always.😀😀😀😀Richard

    Sir, is it possible to run the bypass switch all the way to the front where the original switch supposed to be, below the parking brake release. Thanks

    That rubber plug at the top covers a hole that goes into the vehicle. I've used it to run wires through. Just another option.

    • @L663
      @L663  Рік тому

      Yes that is also a good option - i think i did not use that one as it made it trickier to route through the gap without removing the interior panels - good option though !

    Hi, always great content.
    Is it possible to upgrade the rear view mirror in the 2023 Defender to the one with the rear camera view? Also if possible to do a demonstration on this topic.

    I’m not sure about the new Defenders but the later versions of the Discovery 4 had an intelligent Battery Monitoring System where during use it continually monitors battery health and once it detects the battery is fully charged it will drop the system voltage to 12v to prevent the battery being overcharged. This usually happens during a long drive. Again, I’m not sure about the new defender.

    • @L663
      @L663  Рік тому +1

      In theory the new Defender has this too but when we data logged the defender they never seem to go into this mode - i think it is because of the high current draw - the car draws 10Amps just parked up ! but you raise a good point and one I have thought about.

    It does not seem worth all the faffing around installing a locking system like this, a simple crow bar will easily overcome the tiny locking device in seconds, it looks like most locking devices in being more of an inconvenience to the owner than it is to a petrol thief, stay safe! Chris B.

      With some new products we release to UK first - to get feedback and then release worldwide a couple of weeks later with any tweeks or extra parts added. If you want to get one of the first ones send an email via the website.

      @@pmatheson418 Yes pretty sure the USA version will be the same - can you just check that you have the solenoid fitted to your car - check for the wire going to the rear of the fuel flap

    Nice job. Out of interest , is it not possible to use the original loom and cut into inside the car somewhere ?

    • @L663
      @L663  Рік тому +1

      The loom runs to the BCM ( body control module ) which is part of the front fuse box. Some people have made a modification where they add parts to the front BCM but its a more complicated upgrade and more £££ ( £300 from memory )

    re running out of fuel Yep i would guess that would be a problem as the flap would have locked due to low voltage, would it not be easier to have a dual pole switch .move one way and it locks . move the other and it reverses voltage. the switch would be non locking so it returns to neutral position.it could be placed by fuse box or even in the small compartment in rear door

    • @L663
      @L663  Рік тому +1

      This is a pretty good idea for a simple manual switch. The issue would be you need to remember to lock the flap every time you refuel - you could use our circuit like this with the override switch ( to open ) and the board will automatically lock it.

    I am so disappointed of land rover decision’s such as removing some essential parts of later 2203 models its inconvenient that you order the HSE model than they decided to remove the matrix led !! And there is no fuel cover outo closed as well

    • @L663
      @L663  Рік тому

      I do love the LED matrix headlights - they are really really good if you do a lot of night driving. The odd thing is that I cannot see that the parts shortage would impact components for a locking fuel flap

    It's cool tech BUT I don't see what's the problem with the old fashioned cable pull system installed on most cars to unlock the fuel cap. In my Shogun I just pull a small lever under the steering wheel working on the same principle as the bonnet release. Simple and needs no circuits!
    I can't remember for sure how it worked on my LR Disco 3 but I think it was just a simple cable system. The R&D dept. at LR have certainly been let loose with abandon on all the tech design decisions for the new Defender.

    • @L663
      @L663  Рік тому

      The cable has many advantages - in some cars i have seen both - an electrical solenoid but also an internal cable release ( I guess for when there is a flat battery etc )

    Why not just a locking fuel cap?

  • @FriedrichKeller

    Dear Powerful UK Team, hi Simon
    the module was installed on 29. July at 1.00 pm Swiss time and works as expected in my New Defender (L663). However - and as a little feedback - it takes about 20 min for the fuel filler flap module to operate the closing mechanism after the engine is switched off. But this is only a small thing - all in all a perfect solution - you are my hero’s.
    … and some idea in addition - I was thinking about the delay of “20 min”: If applicable, can the delay of the module until the fuel filler flap is locked be set individually via a potentiometer on the module itself? Something like 0 min to 20 min? Just an idea ... 😊 ...
    With kind regards
    Friedrich Keller

      Glad to hear it’s all installed and working. I like the idea of a jumper on the board to set for 1 min 10 min or 30 min.
