It's about learning, coding, and generally how to get your sh*t together c:
In this video I talk about why I always make time to learn new things AND how I manage to do it even though life gets very busy balancing being a data scientist, a course instructor, youtuber, and a (still relatively new) trader.

🐈⬛🐈⬛About me
========================
Hi, my name is Tina and I'm a data scientist at a FAANG company. I was pre-med studying pharmacology at the University of Toronto until I finally accepted that I would make a terrible doctor. I didn't know what to do with myself so I worked for a year as a research assistant for a bioinformatics lab where I learned how to code and became interested in data science. I then did a masters in computer science (MCIT) at the University of Pennsylvania before ending up at my current job in tech :)

Another follow up video to this: how aggressively outsourcing has saved my mental health 🐈⬛🌸 thank you to everyone emphasizing sustainability ❤️
What would you do without the tech in your life?
are you lefty?
What courses would you recommend to learn to trade?
Thank you for refocusing my thoughts from doing a dream job, to creating a dream lifestyle 🙌🏾
How old are you?
Constant learning is good for cognitive health!
i hope its good for mental health too

OH WOW fangirling so hard - one of my favourite channels! ❤️❤️
sleeping is even better for health
Awareness of one’s own absence of knowledge is the first step.
"learning makes me feel fulfilled" I really resonate with this. I'm always learning random new things and I used to be underconfident a few years ago and now I'm so much better with communication and presentation because of things I decided to pursue. I'm glad someone understands this feeling.
🌼🌼 so happy to hear that!!
@@tati9867 yes I do feel anxious sometimes and I do feel imposter syndrome from time to time. But that anxiousness and imposter syndrome gets smaller and smaller as you continue doing things for yourself. I love singing and I remember shaking with anxiety the first time on stage solo, in my college. 4 years later, I'm much more confident on stage and I love the thrill actually. I hope you love doing things enough to overcome these feelings 💖
Great video Tina! My favorite part of the video: 5:27 "Divergent skill sets can converge to make something really really magical" - Tina Huang
So true! And the crazy part is that those divergent skill sets may seemingly not make sense at the time but only when you look at it in retrospect then it makes sense.
"You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future." - Steve Jobs
Data professor!! ❤️🐈🐈 just gotta trust but it really is so true
This is such an important message, sometimes it's really discouraging seeing how you've "lost so much of your time, jumping from one place to the other", but in reality, everything that you've learnt has brought value to your life, broadening your perspective and forming different abilities that you may have not had otherwise. Thank you so much!
You know that we all want you to make the video Tina. I'm just commenting for the algorithm.
🌸🌸🌸🌸🐈⬛ STAMP OF APPROVAL FROM SIR KEN
Yes please do make the video .
I recall making quite a strong point about sustainability not that long ago. Glad to see that it was taken positively by Tina to say the least
"You need to design your own lifestyle that makes you happy."
- this sentence right here just changed my first day of 2022 and quite possibly my year. Seems like a no-brainer at first, or rather obvious... But the more you think about it, the more sense it makes. Thank you Tina!
soooo…did it?
I'm mostly self-taught & working on my own software company. Finding your channel made me happy because learning new skills on your own is a lonely journey. You are such a big inspiration and congrats on your work. I can relate to those busy days:) Now we can "learn" together on your study channel!
Same here. It definitely is a lonely but fulfilling road
chill
Ohh a smart and beautiful woman your boyfriend is luckiest guy in the world :O
It does sound like "learning"
I'm still thinking in terms of productivity over habit 🙃 who says supercharged learning once a month is gonna get less done that "learning" ever day? I'd wanna see some data... but it would have to be based on personality, I assume
Do you have any guidance for a beginner?
You are an inspiration for me. I've avoided learning new things "I wouldn't need" (according to others) because I cared what other people think. It made me realize that my need to learn new things is normal, regardless of how "useful" it is.
I love it when you said that it makes you happy! Internal happiness is the key. Keeping up with this fast paced world is so hard and most of the time, stressful. There's nothing wrong with chasing your "dream job" but nothing and no one can make you truly happy if you're not happy from within. I love our community and thank you for always showing up for us! ❤️
With all these inspiring projects that you manage, you also learn how to filter things, not bother about something very, very trivial because you realize it doesn't matter. Side hustles are cool. Good luck with everything, Tina!
The idea of having a community to encourage each other is brilliant.. I actually really need that
Omg Tina! When I tell you that finding your channel during my NLP Masters was such a blessing in disguise! It changed my mindset, my motivation and just overall made me feel like I can do this! I didn't come from a tech undergrad so it was really hard to get my head around the statistics and coding, but I'm getting there. Your videos made me realise it's possible to do that!
Thanks for always being so candid and motivating.
Wow, I feel so similar. I was actually in a deep low when I was getting closer to the end of my masters, because "just" working a job and not studying anymore sounded so bland - I always looved studying even when it got hard. Since I started my channel (it's still a tiny baby channel) and seeing how others have a channel next to their job it really changed my mindset and made me actually look forward to starting my job soon.
What's deep learning?
Use the shortest and simplest phrase you can come up with for a 12 years old kid know nothing about the subject
Go ahead, that's my challenge for you
I will smash the subscribe button if you do that XD
I'm currently on a moment in my life where I can relate to a lot of what you said. Loved the video
I'm glad I've discovered your channel. I feel like your content is exactly what I've been looking for. I can't wait to go down the rabbit hole of your channel.
It is indeed a fulfilling experience for me. Learning. Although my triggers that push me keep changing way too often, I try and make the most of them. And thanks to StudywithTina, I am trying to build a little discipline and routine around my life. It is indeed awesome how an entire community turns up to cheer one another in making learning a habit. I hope someday I would be able to integrate my skill sets for a better day in life. Keep inspiring us by showing up.
Excellent insights, thank you! I am a lifetime learner but often get told that I sometimes read / study too much.
The worst thing that happens is that you know more than you did the previous day, and that is a wonderful feeling. Enjoy and you have a new subscriber!
I really appreciate you taking the time to share your life and expertise. Its been very helpful!
All of this resonated so well with me. Love all your efforts, excited to learn more about you through your videos in the coming time
Tina, your content is so good! I'm so happy that I found this channel. You inspired me to go to the library to study after work!
i was working on a data analysis project, then i saw the notification and here i am actively learning from you.... we love an intellectual techie lol ^^ thank you Tina
Hi Tina! I love your videos, aiming to become a data scientist and your videos are helping me so much!
A huge hug from Brazil ❤️
🐈
This was a nice video Tina, I for sure need to focus on creating discipline to achieve my goals. Thanks Tina :)
So glad I found your channel. I need some extra motivation to push myself further after getting my degree and new job.
Hey Tina just wanted to tell that I love how you think about all this you're doing is for the benefit of your happiness, some people do it solely because of society's pressure and trends of the so called 'hustle culture', yet you're so realistic about it (that we can have good and bad days, and at the end of the day what most important is just to learn step by step).
I really get the message that we should just do what we love and 'start' doing it, yet not being too hard on ourselves either. Anyway nobody is going to deny that your default personality is a hard worker though (for putting all that time to learn new things and the fact that it makes you happy), definitely inspires me 👏
I completely agree! I thought that when I clicked on the video, it would be hustle culturey but instead it talked about personal fulfillment.
Your video is very inspiring!
I’m a pharmacist (yes, with no coding background) I just started learning coding.
The information, data and everything seems overwhelming and sometimes it is very difficult to start learning new things (again and again)
Really love the way you manage your daily routine and self-discipline
Wow. Youre an inspiration Tina. I have been struggling with consistency since a long time ago, and I don’t think I have met anyone who is 99% consistent, but you show me that its possible!
I just had a huge setback. This really helped
Just discovered your channel. I really like it. Very insightful and really good lessons. I’m 55 (almost 56), and am only a few years away from retirement. I’m really trying to figure out what I wanna do in my retirement, and I like the way you approach learning new things and discovering new interests. I think your videos will help me in the process of determining what I do next. Thank you.
Tina, thanks for putting together a video that has helped tie what it is I've been going though, and some feedback on how to become better at all of the learning I've been working on.
This is such a great find! I am in a position in the business and I like things done by myself first before anyone else would do it. Of course not going through with all of the specifics but knowing is something that makes things works seamlessly and not fall into cracks. The skills you learn from these different platforms are truly wonderful. People tend to think of unlearning things because of the new venture they are going to participate on but I think that bringing in the experiences and other relative skills from previous experiences would be beneficial to the new venture. Hope it makes sense, I got too excited to comment this lol! All the love Tina!
Thank you for helping me prepare for my job interview, honestly, you just gave me a lot of talking points. We are similar in a way that we operate.
Actually, one of the best videos on working hard, and finding the real dream job... Seen many of your videos, but this one earned a huge thumbs up.
I love the pace and delivery of your videos
You're inspiring, Tina. I appreciate all your videos.
Thank you, Tina, for sharing your insight that searching for "THE dream job" may be a fruitless search. Good to see that you are creating a good life for yourself in reality. Wishing you the best on your path as you are going on :o)
I can relate to you sooo much!
I was so incredibly worried about "not finding my dream job" all my Bachelor and had this constant aura of uncontentness around me.
Now I have come to the realization this job doesn't exist and I don't need to "follow my passion" to live a great life but rather choose an interesting career that fascinates me and encourages me to always learn new skills and do exciting tasks is absolutely enough and will lead to bigger overall fullfilment, I feel like a mountain of stress has fallen from my back I didn't even know I was carrying.
I feel the "follow your dreams 🤩🤩🤩" mindset is not the best career advice for most people and can end up really hurting people like you and me.
I love how passionate you are about learning and all of the stuff you do! (:
Thanks for sharing this with us.
Obviously with such a schedule your journey won't be dull at all even if it can be exhausting.
That make life more enjoyable especially when your love what you are doing.
I'm kinda in a place where i want learn so many things but I never find the will to push myself to do it. This video kinda made myself motivated, thank you.
Thank you for this video you said a lot of what I’m trying to say and helped me get on the right track!
Your voice is so soothing and your videos really make me wanna push myself harder. I resonate so much with what you said about learning. "how it really makes you fulfilled". The pressure of excelling sometimes makes me forget that learning is fun. But watching your videos help me go back to my center. Thank you.
I followed a similar path: BS in Pre-med, now I'm in the engineering field that requires a BS/MS in EE/ME which I don't even have. It took a lot of self-motivation and self-learning. But here I am now, I love my easy going career and I get 3/4 day weekends to do what I love. I may go back to school for a MSE just for my own personal enjoyment.
how did you get a engineering job with BSc?
@@iLastStar I forgot to read the educational requirements. LOL. To keep the long story short, I got on the wrong train and had to walk back to my destination. It was a very rough 2 year journey.
My new favorite youtuber! Thanks for all these nuggets of wisdom.
Such insight and maturity for someone your age. I am decades older than you. Although I have a well paying day job, I am learning CS on the side to challenge my problem solving skills and to express my creativity by making small programs. Sometimes you just cannot force everything you want out of your W2 day job, and you have to find side gigs to full fill those needs :)
You are my favorite UA-camr! Thank you so much for these videos ❤️
love the hustle tina. awesome video, just subscribed!
Thank you for this video, so inspiring to hear your learning journey!
Extremely well done video. Not even finished with it and wow. Had to leave the comment to support the channel. Love this.
While I surely appreciate your helpful content for many freshers like myself, I was wondering the same thing myself. Glad that you made a video addressing it and I hope that I can input the same amount of zeal to my own professional life.
I read nonfiction for about 5 hours every day I have for the last 20 years, you're absolutely correct it's so easy to learn new things because I've mastered the art of learning and so many subjects
Tina is realky excellent! I should learn your spirit and your good habits! You are such a great inspiration to me.
I thought this was a hustle culture type of video, but no as soon as I realized it wasn't I had to sub! I'm coming into this same understanding with myself right now that it's okay to change career paths and try new things. This video is giving the same vibes that the internet had a few weeks ago when we all simultaneously learned the rest of the "jack of all trades" quote lol. Love it!
Thank you for articulating how important it is to be open to learning new things even in diverse skillsets - it makes sense!💗😊 Here I am at 50yrs old about to launch my nail salon, data science student about the graduate from massage therapy in Nov/21 and learning to code (bite-sized chunks 😁). I am constantly in doing, learning, leveraging what I learn by sharing info and trying to balance family, purpose, life. It's all possible friends.😊
Wow that’s awesome! 🌼🐈⬛❤️
randomly spotted your blog and now I'm hooked
The audio quality has gotten a lot better from some of the other videos I have seen and I really enjoy that. I love how much self awareness you have. I also have social accountability irks. 😂
Many thanks Tina, you inspire me a lot
what a super dope video. I'm gonna' commit to putting out my own UA-cam video inspired by this one! I also work, learn and create practically around-the-clock because I find it keeps me in a continuous state of flow. thanks for the Inspo!!
Thank you TIna for your video and your channel ! This is the kind of content i needed to boost me
Thank you so much. This really gives me motivation to learn to code and become a developer.
I love this video. Thanks for sharing your experience.
thanks for ur videos, i was motivated to learn a new course this year! It was tiring but all worth it!
Thanks, enjoyed your video, which popped up in my feed 👍🏾👌🏾
I loved this video, and I can relate also, I love learning new things each day, it is what excites me to wake up in the morning, I am a third-year dental student, and am learning python, digital marketing and will start a youtube channel and a blog of my own soon, my videos will be about productivity, studying and learning, self-improvement, daily vlogs about my life, and sharing the knowledge and the lessons I have learned, and am excited to learn new things by putting myself out there, showing my own work and learning from the community. keep up the good videos .
I loved what you had to say. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you, Tina that was very fascinating, Hope to see more content like this keep going !
The learning process never ends! I can relate...working, studying for a certification, and establishing my UA-cam channel! :)
I just found you after I looked up videos on how to code, and I have been binge watching them sense. Great knowledge and great view on the world girl! Keep it up(:
At my own data scientist job, learning new things and continuing to provide increased value for the company is part of the job description.
"the purpose of a cat is to hunt"
That is a straight up lie.
The purpose of a cat is to lay legs-splayed on your keyboard when you're trying to work.
😂 True
😂😂😂
#notallcats
Pun intended 😳
I guess the quoter was talking about street cats and wild cats
not home cats that can't go outside or else be captured by animal control and be burnt to ashes
@@YassuYasen subjective nuance kills the joke.
being a finance grad, seeing the 40 hrs made me tear up 🥲
Very timely tina! thank you so much for this! I love the quote you gave, "The purpose of a cat is to hunt" [maybe that would be a reason behind my name, lols] and I learn that in this fast-paced society, I person would grow and bloom in my own pace through learning. Habit would take care of itself. I love the new set-up by the way, so cute!
Your videos motivate me so much 💜
Thank you Tina!
I'm a college student and I aspire to be a data scientist too. Everyday I spend hours for coding and read. After class, in lunch time usually I'll trading in stock market (I'll try forex later). But all these routine really made me can't rest, I always wanted to work hard all the time even in the weekend. I also feel bad because I don't spend a lot of time for socialize with people.
Also I think to some degree we got our work ethic from our parents, my parents really work hard since they were young so live together with them really affected me adjust to their work ethic.
Thank you for this. I can relate to this video.
what a precise and thoughtful way of explaining. It was engaging and does get message.
Hi Tina, you're amazing and your videos are so helpful!
Thank you for this!
I just discovered you and you really inspired me for to be the better version of myself. I studied law, now I am working as a community manager, but just today, I have decided to learn about coding, I’ll try to push my limits and expand my passion on learning new things. Thank you for this awesome channel and being a great source of information 🤍🌸
wow you blow my mind but i totally get it and understand you. Learning and knowing your purpose is key to life. ✨💖
The ability to learn is the best skill you can have!
It's so inspiring. I'm currently pretty anxious because of my master study (I'm afraid that I won't graduate successfully). But your Video motivated me and told me that WE CAN ACHIEVE MORE, we can do more! It's possible. Thank you !!!
Watched a couple videos of yours this week. The second you said “I realised there is no dream job” I hit the subscribe button. Thanks for making this video !
Loved this video thanks for sharing 🥰
Thanks for talking about how you weren't always like this because I feel bad cuz I have gotten my routines/systems/schedules down yet!
The social accountability thing makes so much sense!! I'm usually a great employee because if someone else is relying on me to do something, I'll get it done even if I don't feel like doing it. What other things could someone do other than live streaming (I'm too anxious to do that lol) that'll work in a similar way? I can't really use my close friends or family for that because I feel too comfortable with them so I wouldn't feel as pressured to get things done.

Hi Tina, thanks for this video. It's just what I wanted to hear. I also love all the Naruto clips you used, it's my most inspiring anime. I am a Quantity Surveyor and blogger but am planning to delve into Data Science in 2020. Thanks for inspiring me.
Fantastic video Tina. Very good job. tnx
Probably the best advice I ever received. This is your first video that I am watching and I already consider you a mentor. Love from India 🇮🇳
You are so me. I can't stop myself from getting into new things 🥰🥰
On lifestyle design, I love the book "Designing your Life". You prototype what you'd like your life to be in small iterations.
Good point about live streaming and "just showing up"!
Thank you! Really helped to well--position my divergent skills as I am preparing for grad school interviews
Haven't watched the video yet but subscribed based on the title and thumbnail. Hustlers appreciate other hustlers. Keep it up.
Liked, shared and subscribed.
I am going to start my new job at FAANG next month, and I was thinking about how can I continue working hard outside the work and not become lazy. This was inspirational, will definitely check your livestreams
Learning makes me excited & the ability to practice the art after learning is fulfilling.
I really enjoy your content, so motivating and intelligent.
I think it's worth saying that you may not sustain this forever with no stopping. I was like this in my 20s then i went through a few years in my late 20s/early 30s where I had to just sit with where I was and really assess. I am now coming into another phase where my desire for learning is heightened again, but definitely in different ways. So it ebbs and flows, and you'll find that different phases of your life call for different aspects of yourself. Everyone used to call me a 1 woman army lol; they'd always ask how I did it all. Now I am really happy where all that hard work got me but looking to just enjoy it a little more because I feel ready to do so. Just one word of advice if this happens to you - respect that what makes you happy can also be less. If you're anything like me, taking so much pride in being a "1 woman army" makes it really tricky when you get to the mountain top and realize you don't know how to *just* enjoy it.
Thank you, Tina.
This is inspirational, truly. Also, you actually have a lot of subscribers. Over 100k! Whoa.
Great content a lot of people is chasing after that dream job as you mentioned but at 1 point or other we just got a realize nothing of that sort exists we are responsible for our own happiness, no external entity can do that for us. BTW looking killer in this jacket. Keep up the good work!!!!!
